Was something changed with how jsons work in 1.9? When I create items they are shown as giant when dropped and not rendering correctly when held. They worked perfectly in 1.8.
Some display transformations have changed in 1.9. The firstperson and thirdperson transformations were split into left and right hand versions and basic item models now specify the ground and head transformations.
Simple item models should now extend item/generated, which extends builtin/generated and defines the standard display transformations.
The block/block model extended by most cubic block models also now defines the standard display transformations.
This removes the need to specify display transformations in your own models unless they're a custom shape or should display differently to regular models.

Please don't PM me to ask for help or to join your mod development team. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future. I'm not interested in developing mods with people.
Thx for the reply. Do you think you could explain this a little further? Not very good with json related stuff.
The thirdperson and firstperson display transformations (used in the "display" block of item models) were replaced with thirdperson_righthand, thirdperson_lefthand, firstperson_righthand, firstperson_lefthand.
If your model extends item/generated or block/block (even indirectly), the standard display transformations have already been defined for you. You only need to define your own if your model is a different shape or should be displayed differently.
Was there a particular part of my post that you didn't understand?

You can see a simple item model here and all of my mod's assets here.
You should really sort out your IDE, though. Looking at Minecraft's assets is important for figuring out how things work.

Yeah idk what happened, might just be a bad computer. I ran everything like it should have, and for an old one I was able to look at them. Who knows. Thx for the model though.

Would you mind showing me an example json file? I can't my workspace to open them (probably set it up the wrong way).

Edit: That really is so much simpler.
