Ive been wanting to create a mod now for some time but I've never been able to figure out how. I've tried watching some videos but they don't seem to help me. I use a Mac and many of the videos i watch for that are outdated. If any modding veterans can help me i would really appreciate it!
Okay first of all, wtf are all those IDs. If you're on 1.7, pretty much none of them are needed. If you're on 1.6.4, facepalm.
Also, you really shouldn't just post your main mod class, absolutely no one is going to use it unless they're really lazy and don't want to read a short tutorial. There is no reason to post that anyway, because the OP still needs to learn to setup gradle etc. And finally, use spoiler tags please. :>
I'm a noob Mac Modder too and the problem I'm finding is that I cannot run the command gradlew setupDeobfuscatedWorkspace without getting an error that causes it to fail. I will attempt to recreate the problem and give you guys error code.

Is it not setupDecompWorkspace? It might be different for mac though, so I'm not sure.
EDIT: dang it ninja'd, but anyway, I just checked and it is infact setupDecompWorkspace for mac too.
You should get an Integrated Developer Enviroment (or IDE for short). Eclipse and InteliJ IDEA are popular and easy-to-use IDEs that you can use.
Second you should get some sort of version control software set up such as git. If you have InteliJ IDEA, you can import GitHub code repositories from the startup menu.

Tell us the error.
Do you have JDK 1.6+ installed?
In my opinion, guide videos for programming are annoying and take way too long. A good wiki article that I followed (and worked fine for 1.7.10) can be found here - http://www.minecraftforge.net/wiki/Installation/Source
The same series also covers how to add your first item, block, and stuff - I highly recommend it.
Once you finish that tutorial and want to move on to more, you're welcome to browse my source for a mod I started 2 days ago - it's very small now but covers some more advanced things that I had to figure out from scratch by guesswork and following old tutorials (I am also working on 1.7.10 - I do recommend it since it's latest but there are quite a few changes since 1.7.2/1.6.4 that break old tutorials). I do/plan to use as much comments in code as I possibly can source repo here. One notable example is how I generate my new block called Brushwood in the world - it will generate anywhere within x blocks of tree leaves (and it's pretty fast).

I'm a derp
Let's do some math.
1/3 = 0.333...
1/3 * 3 = 1
0.333... * 3 = 0.999...
1 = 0.999...
1 - 0.999... = 0.999... - 0.999...
0.0...1 = 0
0.0...1 * 10... = 0 * 10...
1 = 0

And that's pretty much it.

What?
