I've been adding a few block to minecraft using MCP(no modloader) and my code works fine and all, but where in the mcp folder should I put the terrain.png so it finds it and applies my textures to my blocks? I've tried mcp/bin/minecraft, mcp/temp/bin/minecraft, and mcp/bin minecraft/net/minecraft. None of those places have worked so far. Any suggestions?
Just as a tip, in the future, you shouldn't use the game's terrain.png and just edit it. It would be easier just to have one file for that has your texture, like a 16x16 one.
And OptiFine is overrated as heck. Use ModLoader, simple as that, many people simply refuse to help people who don't want to use ModLoader with no reason to back it up.
Ok, I'm using modloader now and I have the texture separate from the terrain.png file, but I get this error in my code:
src/minecraft/net/minecraft/src/mod_ClassicWool.java:6: cannot find symbol
symbol : method setClassicGreen(java.lang.String)
location: class net.minecraft.src.BlockClassicGreen
public static final Block ClassicGreen = new BlockClassicGreen(160, 0).setClassicGreen("ClassicGreen").setHardness(.5F).setResistance(4F).setLightValue(1F);
^
Here is my code:
package net.minecraft.src;
public class mod_ClassicWool extends BaseMod
{
public static final Block ClassicGreen = new BlockClassicGreen(160, 0).setClassicGreen("ClassicGreen").setHardness(.5F).setResistance(4F).setLightValue(1F);
public void load()
{
ClassicGreen.blockIndexInTexture = ModLoader.addOverride("/terrain.png", "/ClassicWool/green.png");
ModLoader.registerBlock(ClassicGreen);
ModLoader.addName(ClassicGreen, "Classic Green");
ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(ClassicGreen, 1), new Object [] {"#", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt});
}
public String getVersion()
{
return "1.1";
}
}

unless its something that goes beyond the scope of ModLoader, a mod such as Optifine.
I doubt he is making something that advanced, but good point nonetheless.
Here is my code:
Any one might know what i'm doing wrong?

Delete it.
Yes, some of us do. I've been working on mine for a while, changing to modloader would require relearning what I know and redoing all of it.

Congrats on bumping the post. Also, for major mods which may require base edits, Forge serves a massive help.
