But got the following error:
"Could not find or load main class C:\...\.minecraft\bin\jinput.jar"...
I'm making a custom launcher so this would be nice to do .
Well, legally you can't do it. the .jar they give you has to be opened using their .exe so they can tell if you are premium or not. I would say it, but I can't because of legal issues against Mojang and I don't like pirates.
You need all the following files in the .bin folder to be able to launch. The Official Mojang launcher downloads all these files, as launching the game has dependencies from each of the other JAR files.

That's the thing. I have all those files, so I'm wondering why it isn't working.
You do realize every mod ever created is against their TOS? Notch and Jeb seem fine with modding, I'm not creating a hacked launcher or anything.

You do realize I got the code I have so far from the stickied thread at the top of these forums. I'm pretty sure it is for doing exactly this...

Then each and every single MCP modder is breaking the law. Good job.
It's illegal to redistribute Minecraft. There's no legal stipulation that you have to use the provided launcher.
You were right about windows not being able to find my java. Didn't run into this problem before. I've tried Solution_1 and the .bat just closed immediately upon opening .
I've checked the paths several times and tried to make it "Javaw" instead of "Java", both with and without ".exe" (mine is C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java).
However, Solution_2 worked, thank you very much! The .bat now runs without the path, only with "java -Xms..."
Now it would be nice if OP updated his post for any people searching for this to know the solution right away, without looking through the whole topic
Just to make you aware, there is no difference that I am aware of (correct me where applicable) between java.exe and javaw.exe

Is there a way to launch the minecraft.jar (in .minecraft/bin/) directly?
I tried this:
