The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Hey guys, I was wondering if I could ask you a question. This question isn't really a problem, it is what you guys think.
So basically, I worked a year straight planning for a huge Minecraft 1.12.2 modpack, and I have finally come close to finishing it. Should I sell my modpack or should I post it on CurseForge/Twitch for free so anyone can use it?
First off, you cannot sell modpacks, that is step one! No mods allow users to profit off of their work! Donations are allowed but even legally speaking you can not legally make profit off of a non profit or copyrighted object, that could result in IRL fines in a court. Second I would not put it on curse because people that download modpacks on the twitch client usually don't read the description and people will have too little resources to handle the behemoth, also you have to write a manifest, and that is it's own headache but it can be handled by exporting it from the twitch client. Optifine is not allowed on CurseForge by the way. I'd suggest just writing a lengthy description with a modlist with the mod link, mod name, and authors name, needed recourse (AKA at least 12 GB of RAM dedicated to the game) and a mediafire link to the .zip.
Not writing this to scare you, just making you aware of this.
