Arch's Grind Complex
Warning : This is not some random all-in generic modpack.Second Warning : It IS hard. Harder than any pack I've tried.
Last Warning : It will not run on a tin can. If your box is more than a few years old, maybe this ain't the pack for you.
Don't say I didn't warn you !
Do you like challenges ? Do you like complexity ? Do you like challenges ? Do you like being kicked there by a raging kid right where it hurts ? Nope ? Not the latter. Well too bad. This is what my pack reminds me the most of. Pain. The mod selection aims to provide something that's challenging on all aspects. Be it for the overall recipe complexity, the much tougher mobs, hunger/regen mechanics, or even the added physics, I made all I could to keep this pack as hard and complex as possible while still trying to preserve the sweet, sweet tiering and balance of GregTech.
Tools AND Weapon are provided by Tinker's Constructs and all other Weapons and Tools are disabled. (Except for GregTech's tool which are available after the pre-game phase only.) Iguana Tinker Tweaks provides some nice, much-needed progression and customization to Tinker's. The more you use tools, the more random enchants you get. Additional modifiers are disabled and you only get to choose ONE modifier once you've mastered the tool. The others you'll be getting are -random-. The probability to get Auto-Repair has been lowered and balls of moss will require quite some exploring in the TF, so the tools are not free either. Basically, the nice mechanics of Tinker without the overpowered weapons. And for once, weapons that will really follow you through the games. From Stone level to Manyullyn level if you wish, as you can change the head and keep on mining to higher tiers ! Trust me, you'll grow fond of them. ;]
Once you get a hold of yourself, get some food running and a few weapons... It's time for exploration ! Be sure to have a Sleeping Bag with you, 'cause really you don't want to have to go through the night. ;] With support from Special Mobs and Infernal Mobs , mobs are really a terror at first when you have no room over your head and not even enough to afford an armor. Since the pack uses Random Things' Hardcore Darkness which makes everything pitch black unless lit... And also uses Zombie Awareness, you which make zombies follow lights... You really have no other option but to skip the night. Or enjoy a swift death. ;] All life from all mob has been doubled or even tripled. Don't worry though, for support is available. Be it for Blocklings, MCA's villagers or even... A... Tiny... Maid, make sure to have an ally by your side !
Once some exploration is done and you've found a few veins of ores... It's time to mine ! About the mining... This is GregTech oregen all the way, as we like it... However the locations of the ores themselves has been changed, requiring you to go to no less than 7 of the dimensions we have available to get all the ores... Namely the Overworld, the Twilight Forest, the Nether, the End and Galacticraft's Moon, Mars and Asteroids. All other ores from all other mods have been disabled unless this was impossible and replaced by their GregTech's equivalent. Once again, challenging stuff.
All in all... Good luck. =]
P.S : There's also an end-game surprise if you manage to get there. ;D
I try to extend the gameplay of MineCraft, sort of like GregTech tries to do (And suceeds pretty well.) using other mods, providing many different tiers to all aspect of your tech progression, be it automation, bee breeding or just about anything. and try to make every mod feel like it has always been a part of GT, sometimes altering the original recipes to great extent, to recipes that are more Greg-ish or just recipes that I find more pleasant to look at. The pack currently has almost half a megabyte of Custom Recipes in scripts (Or 10K+ lines), more than any other modpack I know of. And I'm far from done. To accomodate my needs I've also started working on a small "mod" I'll be using to add bunch of little things to the game. Already have a dozen so far. Feel free to grab it and use it, just credit me somewhere. Same goes for the scripts, of course.
All in all. Have fun. :3
*** THE MODLIST *** Yay ! (Apparently I cannot center this...)
As it is too long to write here, I'll just post a link to another list I made, here. Always up to date.
The rules : I won't make it really long... 'Cause rules are boring (Although necessary.). Don't be an ass. Is all. Of course, this implies a bunch of things. I like to call this COMMON SENSE. Do not steal, do not grief, do not destroy other people's stuff... Simple, isn't it ? So simple because I'll be there all the time, and if you act like a jerk, you're out. (Sounds frightening, but really, it isn't.
- * The pack : Available here. Simple instructions on how to install are found lower on this page.
The server : I have a dedicated server running 2 different Minecraft worlds, both being linked by qCraft portals, allowing to split the workload between two servers. The server specs are as follow : Xeon 1230-V3 @ 3.7Ghz, 16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM and 1 sufficient 120GB SSD used for SWAP and of course the world. As you can see, not a bad server at all. Do note however that some mods in the pack are REALLY expensive to run ressource-wise, so judgement and care must be used when travelling.
Okay, think I'm done. If you're interested after all this, there's 3 ways to contact me so I can give you the necessary files. (Scripts and whatnot.) I'll put them here in order of efficiency. FIRST. Communicate with me on the official TeamSpeak. (IP : 162.219.27.202) This is where you'll end up grabbing most of the updates anyway, so might as well get used to it now. I should answer you and allow you in pretty much instantly that way. SECOND. Send me a message on the IC2 forums. I see these every day or so, maybe less. THIRD. Send me a message on the MC Forums. And FOURTH, write a message in here. ;P

Is all for today. ;P I guess I should give a version to the pack... Consider this version 1.1.0.0.
Pew Pew Pew !
btw i like this
Could not even find it using my Google-fu.
Pew Pew Pew !
1.1.0.0 was short lived. O.o
Massive config cleanup and a few (50+) lines of script. AM2 is no longer early game, being pushed after Thaumcraft. ;P
Added Battlegear 2 because well... Dual Wielding is fun. 'Specially since TiCo added support for it. 1 Cleaver and one pick at the same time ? Yes please. Dynamic Lights is now recommended client-side as well if your PC can handle it ! It's -really- dark at night.
When I say it's pitch black, people imagine dark. It's more than just dark. Trust me.
Is all.
See you soon !
Arch.
Pew Pew Pew !
Also, more config fixes and a brand new script for WR-CBE.
At the moment though... I'm playing. Yes, I do that sometimes. ;P
EDIT : Official version is 1.2.2.1.
Pew Pew Pew !
Which means you can now try the modpack without even contacting me !
This' simple.
1. Create a new Minecraft instance using your favorite launcher.
2. Download and Install latest Forge.
3. Download the pack on my github page, here.
4. Drop the content of the zip into your instance.
5. Play !
5b. Optionally, install a mini-map mod, as I couldn't include Journey Map.
Low FPS ? This pack, while having only 150 mods is -heavy-. Here's what you can do :
1. Install FastCraft, available here. REALLY helps. Recommended !
2. Remove BetterFoliage1.0.4 from the mods folder. It is not necessary. Not even to come on the official server.
3. Remove DynamicLights1.7.10 from the mods folder. It is not necessary either, but it is quite useful.
Pew Pew Pew !
I'll stop scripting for a little while and start focusing on two other things for a little bit. There's two mods I added to the pack so I could do stuff with them... And unfortunately haven't had the time yet. The two mods are HQM and CustomChestLoot.
Well I started playing around with CustomChestLoot today. This is gonna be fun. Did you know loot chests' items were taken from a list that doesn't even have 100 items ? In fact, mine had a ridiculous 56. No wonder all loot chests seem the same ! I'm here to fix that. I've only changed loot from vanilla MC so far and I already have 240+ different items you can get as loot. From cobble to a nether star, going by all the dye colors. Of course all of this is weighted.
All in all, lots of work I'm going to do for you guys. ;P But I think it's gonna be well worh it.
As for the official server, a new player joined our ranks !
Is all ! Take care.
Arch.

I also got one good new, and one bad. Let's start by the bad one !
I had to remove Battlegear II due to it working only half the time and actually being incompatible with a mod on the list, causing heavy server-side crashes.
Now, good new time. I added a new mod. ;D This :
Starminer1710-0.9.8
Allows you to create little planets with their own gravity. I know nothing of the mod (I APPARENTLY can't read Japanese.) but it seems amazing and I wanna try it out. ;D
This is it ! Take care.
Arch.
P.S : I also included Forge with the pack download, so no need to find the right version anymore. It's right there.
EDIT : Up 1.3.1.1 - Removed FMP Integration. It was causing problems. Sorry.
Pew Pew Pew !
THIS UPDATE REQUIRES A WORLD RESTART ! If you want to avoid this, replace Blocklings 3.0.0 by Blocklings 2.1.1. However, oregen changes will only apply to chunks that you generate after the update.
What has changed anyway ? Lots of new stuff.
Oregen changes ! Small ores are a little less just everywhere and more Dimension-based like the ore mixes. 90%+ of the small ores change, as well as the height of some ore mixes, including Cassiterite, which should overall make it a little bit easier to find.
I dropped Waila Harvestability as it was acting funky with a few GT ores. Got replaced by Infinitubes. Once it's nerfed, it should provide some basic pre-Steel automation. (It still does that now.)
Mods that updated : Twilight Forest --> 2.3.3, Tinker's Mechworks --> 0.2.12.95, Starminer --> 0.9.8bf1, Secretroomsmod --> 4.7.1.397, OpenComputers --> 1.4.8.33, OpenModsLib --> 0.6-snapshot-307, OpenBlocks --> 1.3-snapshot-556, Logistics Pipes --> 0.8.3.100, IndustrialCraft --> 2.2.673-EXP, Forestry --> 3.5.0.459-unstable, ExtraCells 2 --> 2.2.53b82, CoFHLib --> 1.0.0-B9-88, Buildcraft --> 6.3.6, Blocklings --> 3.0.0, AsieLib --> 0.3.9 and finally, Ars Magica 2 updated to 1.4.0.008.
Custom Chest Loot config now works and has now around 500 items. Mostly added a few GT dusts/tiny piles/small piles and nuggets. Chest loot starts looking different everytime. Woo ! 750 items should happen next release only.
Other than that, small script/config fixes. Such as chalcopyrite being smeltable in the smeltery and mushrooms should stop collapsing on themselves. ;P Also, Eira IRC now links to the official channel. More stuff. ;P
Plans for 1.5.0.0 :
- Make at least a few HQM quests... Just a few to guide people through the first days.
- Add 250+ items to loot table again.
- Re-touch Forestry and Natura scripts.
- More mod updates. ;P
What about the server ? It will get reset in less than one hour for the last time. All items will be transferred. We also got a new player. Welcome, HolyGaab !
Pew Pew Pew !
New Starminer script ! Over 100 lines of script.
Also added IHL - Tools and machines, latest version. Comes with new Water Physics !
Pew Pew Pew !
Anyshway... Updated my core mod, Grind-Core, previously known as Arch-Core.
But that's not why I came here. I made application to get my pack on a real launcher ! I should have news about that soon enough.
Let's hope it works !
Pew Pew Pew !
Two new mods : Remote IO and NEI Integration.
Also new config fixes all over the place and LOTS of scripting. Have a lot of free time soon, so I'll do a bunch again before 1.6.0.0.
Many mods updated... But I'm sorta lazy saying which ones. Might do this later. Railcraft is now 9.5.0.0. Had to remake some parts of the script to make it work, but it works.
If I were you, I'd wait a bit 'till 1.5.1.0 or 1.5.2.0 is out as the update broke a tiny little bit some scripts. Then again, unless you're at Aluminium level, shouldn't change a damn for you. (This will happen later today.)
This' all !
Good luck with the Grind-Complex, and god speed !
Pew Pew Pew !
Is this still being worked on? I'm very excited!
