Hey everyone! I've been seeing people posting modpacks in this forum so I wanted to share my 1.7.10 RPG Modpack here, MysticBlade!
MysticBlade is a PURELY RPG magic modpack. There are NO tech mods in this modpack. Mods that you will find in this pack include things like More Swords mod, Balkon's Weapons Mod, Thaumcraft, Roguelike Dungeons, Archimedes' Ship Mod, Biomes O' Plenty, Decocraft, and so, so much more.
The pack is based around your character surviving the hostile, and sometimes unforgivable RPG world that you spawn into. Strange monsters may come out of portals that you place down, roaming monsters of immense power could attack you anywhere, at any moment, and in order to survive, you will need to explore the deep dungeons and caverns in order to acquire loot. There are DOZENS of weapons, some completely unique to any other modpacks for minecraft; Flails, Halbreds, Shields, Boomerangs, Magic Staves, and so much more thanks to the unique mods contained within this pack! You can even duel wield weapons, and they will combine their attacks into a single swing of fury for even more damage! Besides awesome weapons, you can also help your survivability by wearing rings, gauntlets, necklaces, and belts from a variety of mods that will give you boosted stats, or special abilities! Harness magical powers through the use of Thaumaturgey, or delve into the forbidden art of Blood Magic and become a powerful battle mage! It's fun to play alone, and its even MORE fun with a friend or two.
PLEASE NOTE: This modpack is designed to be HARD. I mean REALLY, REALLY, hard. I'm not kidding, I'm not toning it down. I designed it so that even a VERY experienced minecraft player would find it challenging to survive; that's the way I want it, and that's the way it will remain.
This modpack is always evolving as mods for 1.7.10 become more stable, and as such has gotten frequent updates in the past couple days, and will continue to get them! Currently, the modlist is as follows:
For the mods that require permission (Infernal Mobs, Chromatictaft, Mystcraft, and Myths and Monsters (NYI- waiting for update to fix conflict) I have sought their mod makers out and acquired the correct perms. Posting print-screens of our conversations. (Forums are misbehaving again and won't let me post them as an inserted picture)
The modpack currently is perfectly enjoyable and playable as is, however I do also plan on adding an RPG Map to be included in a future version download that will include custom NPC's, factions, and towns.
Donations to get a new server and keep it running are GREATLY appreciated. The machine the server is currently running on isn't capable of supporting a player base who explores (80% of what the modpack is about!) so I would like to get a good, dedicated server setup. Since I don't have a job atm because I'm watching a baby 24/7 I have no way to pay for one out of pocket other than the couple dollars a month I make off my youtube.
I want to hit my initial goal before I do anything because I'd rather not provide server service on a month by month basis as this isn't steady, reliable, or fair to players- Not to mention time consuming on my end, if I need to move the ever growing server files from machine to machine as service stops and starts.
Initial Goal: $150 will pay for 6 months of dedicated server services Stretch Goal: $300 will pay for ONE YEAR of server services
So, what do you get for donating? Since MC ToS has changed significantly, I'm obviously not able to offer certain things to players. Here is what I can do:
$5 -- You will get your name/thanks/rip on a gravestone in the Cathedral Graveyard in Andelor
$10 -- You will get a statue inside the Cathedral in Andelor (this may change to a sign if I can't get the statue mod to work). Guards in town will mention your name in random conversation w/players.
$15 -- $10 sign/statue in the Cathedral and I will make you a hirable non-combat NPC Critter Companion with minimal dialogue. (Rabbit, Squirrel, Ram, Raven, Bird, Horse, Cat, Dog, etc)
$20 -- $10 sign/statue, the non-combat NPC Critter Companion, and a non-hirable NPC of your design placed at your base to act as whatever you want (Butler, Maid, Stable Master, Cook, BFF, Significant Other, etc) who has custom dialogue fitting the compnion role you choose.
$30+ -- Give me an idea
Welcome to my personal guide on how to survive the your first night (and hopefully more!) playing MysticBlade! First, I'll be going over the game mechanics added by some mods that you may, or may not be familiar with that will effect your character, the environment you choose to settle in, and your minecraft life in general.
Hunger Hunger is a basic minecraft mechanic that most players should be familiar with. The hunger decay rate doesn't really change in this pack, BUT you will need to find varieties of food in order to keep gaining nutritional value from it. There are two mods that effect hunger in MysticBlade in different ways.
1) Spice of Life requires that after you have eaten your first SIX meals that you branch out and add variety to your diet by eating different foods. If you continue to eat the same foods, you will very quickly find yourself not being satisfied by them, and starve.
2) Enviromine adds food rotting. I have upped the days to rot to 16 (I will change it if that's TOO few, please feel free to leave feedback), however there are two blocks you can use to slow this process. One is Enviromine's Esky, the other is it's Freezer. I have changed the recipes for both to much simpler earlier game materials. I would suggest investing in at least one of these asap.
Thirst This is a new mechanic added by Enviromine. This also has been adjusted so that it decays at a similar rate to food, but CAN (and will) drop faster if you are in a hot and/or humid biome. Bottles should be a top priority once shelter has been established so that you can start harvesting, cleaning, and storing fresh/cold water- depending on your biome. Drinking dirty water has a chance to make you sick. Drinking salt water will give you a burst of thirst, but it will decay quickly afterwards.
Temperature This is also a new mechanic added by Enviromine. Every biome in the world has their own temperature, which will effect your character's body temp. Along with this, there are also items and blocks that will effect your surrounding temperature and your body temperate and either help to cool you off, or keep you warm. (Bath's, showers, etc will cool you down, fireplaces, furnaces, etc will keep you warm.) (I will be tweaking this as more feedback comes in since it had minimal testing. I will be happy to adjust biome temps, block temps, etc based on info provided by players. PLEASE leave feedback!)
Now that the important basic mechanics are out of the way- your priority for survival should look something like this:
1) Shelter. You need to hide from all the monsters. I'm serious, they're everywhere. Even if you have armor, I seriously suggest hiding at night (even I do it).
2) Stone. Make a Harvestcraft Juicer and Furnace in order to make juices and water bottles that will feed you and keep you hydrated.
3) Forage. Find berries, fruits, and anything else you can press with the juicer.
4) Esky. Make an Esky in order to start preserving all the juices you make and keep them fresh in case you can't find:
5) Seeds. Get a farm setup as quickly as possible in order to start cultivating all those berries, fruits, etc you've been foraging.
The first thing you may notice is that you spawn with a Crystal Orb. Save this, and use it IN A BIOME YOU WANT TO LIVE IN. If you use this, it will activate MCA and you can choose statistics for your character such as gender, name, gender preference and starting life. That last one is very important. You are given 4 options, depending on which one you choose, you can actually make the start of the game a little easier now. So chose your life carefully!
I like it the modpack but maybe when Ars Magica 2 updates to 1.7.10 you should add it
Oh yea, that's a planned addition. I just have to wait for it to update AM2, Myths and Monsters, and Mystcraft will all be added once they are compatible with the version of MC the pack is on Thanks! I actually just updated it this afternoon to add some of the HQM quests I've been slowly adding. Hopefully the next BIG update will be the map and more of the quests.
I could throw one together quickly There is going to be a MysticBlade public server hopefully soon, but I haven't been able to work on it this week cause I've been super sick. Let me see if I can get you one in the mean time :3
Here you go- see if this one works! Sent you a PM ^^
Yea, once I'm done with the single player map, I'll be working on the quests more. :3 The map is about 50% done atm. I have at least 2 towns planned with one outpost. One town is pretty much done, and the other one is about 1/3 according to the friends who are building it xD Then I have to run it through MCEdit to change the spawnpoint to that city xD
Quests will be a lot of kill based dailies (rewarding coins to spend at vendors, and reputation rewards) for now :3
Hopefully. I've been working on it for the past month, but it seems to have issues with rendering some mobs from Special Mobs, so I may need to remove that from the server and just leave it as a single player mod.
Added Travelers Gear which combines the default inventory UI, TC4 Baubles UI, and it's own UI, adding cloaks, pauldrons and bracers as items you can craft, enchant and wear! Also gives you a nice little overview of your current statistics (Health, Armor, Damage, and any Vis Discounts)
Updated Twilight Forest and it's config to no longer require 'Boss Progression' in the Forest. Also changed TF's Biome ID's to the 300 range, as they were STILL spawning in the overworld due to a BoP conflict. Hopefully this fixes it. Deleting your old TF in your save and regening it is advised. You'll find it listed as folder Dim-7
Altered the Thaumcraft 4 Config to reduce the spawn rate of Magical Forest and Taint Biomes. They were still happening a little too frequently.
I've looked into magic crusade, and I've been testing it in my world. So far, it seems cool, but I have been getting small crashes here and there with it installed, so I'm going to wait til it's been updated. Minestrappolation I've never heard of- I'll look it up. Thirst is a very nice mod indeed, I have it in my survival themed modpack, but I don't really feel like it fits well in a magic based RPG pack. Trust me, there's plenty of things waiting to kill you without you having to worry about dying of thirst as well xD Thanks though! :3
Edit: Oohhh no, I have heard of Minestrappolation, I saw it a while ago. Looks cool, but it looks like something that would work better on its own, or without too many mods. I like Metallurgy 4 for most of what Minestrappolation does. :3 Thanks though!
