I have been trying for a few days now to get mods (Forge) to work on my Minecraft Launcher that is installed on my External 2 TB HDD.
The vanilla game installed and works just fine but if you go into the game files, there is no way to install mods and it seems to have way less file folders than if it was installed on my C drive in the %AppData% Folder. as you might have been able to guess there is no mods folder present in the new directory and just making one does not solve the issue, Forge does not install either.
I am at a loss on what to do. Is it even possible to get a modded game working on an external hdd?
Hello to anybody reading this,
I have been trying for a few days now to get mods (Forge) to work on my Minecraft Launcher that is installed on my External 2 TB HDD.
Is it even possible to get a modded game working on an external hdd?
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Did you change the working directory with --workDir?
https://minecraftirc.net/support-articles/changing-working-directory/
Setting a new path in your Launcher profile is not enough to get this working
how exactly would I do this? is the given directory " %ProgramData% " the correct one to use?
On your HDD create a Minecraft-folder
Then set the Path to it
Something like:
--workDir D:\Program Files\Minecraft\
Ok, I see how this works now
Thank you
