They were with 1.7.10 using the Shaders mod and Better Foliage. It may be glitchy and doesn't support Optifine but it looks a lot better in my opinion.
This is fantastic! however in some ways this is worse than the original, example: can't walk up blocks on multiplayer (which worked originally). The easy fix would be to disable auto-jump for multiplayer. Also it would be cool if tree leaves were rounded. Another thing: sometimes blocks are unfortunately invisible. I wish this worked for 1.5 because that is my fav version.
I'm a dev & I'm now working on a port of NoCubes for 1.12.2. I've already got it working and fully compatible with Optifine & BetterFoliage. I’m currently working on optimisations and fixing a couple small bugs yet so I haven’t done a full release yet. I’ve made quite a few 95% perfect pre-releases though. Join the discord server if you want to help with the mod/ask questions/view the progress on it.
Don’t forget that the lighting is set based on your video settings, but everything else is changed from on the mods config which can be found at Mod List > NoCubes > Config
There are a bunch of cool options in the config that can make the visuals a lot better. (Beautify textures, change the rendering algorithm, smooth liquids etc.)
Any compatibility planned in the future? Like biomes o' plenty or terrafirmacraft?
For themodpackmaker’s 1.7.10 or my 1.12.2+ version? I think it was talked about and might be planned for themodpackmaker’s version, and it’s already implemented and going to be enhanced soon in my version.
Is it just me or is shader water broken in themodpackhacker's fork of No Cubes? I have this problem in every shaderpack but I don't see anyone on here with the same problem:
I'm on Linux Mint 19.1 using the iGPU on my Ryzen 2200G, but before my GTX 780 died it had the same problem
I haven’t looked at 1.7.10 OptiFine code, but if it’s anything like the 1.12.2/1.13.2 code then shaders compatibility is added in to the vanilla rendering code. If you’re not using the vanilla rendering code shaders compatibility needs to be manually added. It seems as though themodpackmaker’s 1.7.10 version renders liquids normally with the vanilla renderer (so it should be 100% compatible with shaders). However the “ghost liquids” are not rendered with shaders compatibility.
Cadiboo is it possible to port the mod to Windows 10 edition? Using virtual glasses and the performance (of the java version) with vivecraft is horrible, while with Windows 10 edition I can have the maximum 36 chunks without any performance issues but the "no cubes" mod in the mcpe websites is slanted/curved blocks only.
Here is a link to the last screenshot because the forums absolutely refuse to load it for some reason
Did you make the screenshots with No cubes for minecraft 1.7.10 or do you have the mod for the minecraft version 1.12.2?

Yeah... Looks amazing
Yeah... But why?
Did he just say, "Now I don't feel like it anymore", or what?
Can you give a link to the fork so I can look over the license?
Probably the best screenshot I'm gonna get.

Thanks you very much for this !
I joined the Discord and can't wait to test it with 1.12.2
NoCubes is a client-side-only mod, it looks like you’re trying to load it on a server
I'm putting the project up on curse forge if anyones interested
Here’s the project on CurseForge

Hey this keeps crashing minecraft. Any help maybe?
for 1.7.10 use my forked and fixed version and no one can help you if you don't post the crash either in pastebin.com or a spoiler
