Next thought as I play -- sheep all drop specialty wool blocks named for their breed. But I have a custom wool2string recipe that doesn't recognize these wool types.
Is there any particular reason that the sheep drop these specialty wools? Are there any recipes that care which subtype of wool? I don't see anything on your plans that would distinguish between types, so this just seems like extra complexity.
Alternately, I am not a sophisticated modder -- is there a way I can write a wool2string recipe that can use animania wools? I'm just using Recipe Manipulator to make Peaceful Mode playable so that I can play with my kid, who still panics at monsters.
BTW: There DOES seem to be conversion recipes in Animania to convert the specialty wools to base game wools, so I can use my wool2string. I just have to go through the step of converting.
BUT all Animania wool doesn't convert.
Also, the crafting recipe that converts animania wool into minecraft wool makes white wools brown and brown wools white. Is this a bug perchance? I looked a bit in mod's recipes, and it looks like there are several conversion recipes that specify specific data values of minecraft:wool being created by specific data values of animania:wool.

Yeah, that last one is a bug. It will be fixed in next release
I don't seem to be able to pour a bucket of milk into the cheese mold. Is there a special mechanic for this? Right-clicking the mold on the ground with the milk bucket in my hand doesn't seem to do it.

Are you using Animania milk? What version of Forge are you on?
I think I found a conflict with Mo Creatures-- Without the vanilla horses there's no way to breed the spotted horse and therefore get the rarer horses like fairy horses or pegasus.

Animania does not replace vanilla horses (unless you manually change it in the config). So you should be good to go.
Hello, I saw Animania was updated yesterday on curseforge. Was there anything fixed/added? I tried looking for an update page so I could see but I didn't find anything. Anyways, thanks for all of the hard work you guys do!
IVlandy, check the changes area in curse forge. also in the next update, can you add cats, i saw you siamese and ragdoll cat models in twitter and facebook.
Spawning completely rewritten. Animania no longer requires Spawn Limits, and there is no more Overspawning and no more Despawning.
Pathing to food/water has been completely rewritten. Coupled with overspawning, this was often the source of massive lag on servers.
The above two fixes should make the mod much more server friendly

You can also use WAILA or HWYLA or The One Probe
Still, I'm curious -- are there any plans for the species-specific wool types?
If not, it might be nice to have an option to drop (or immediately convert to) appropriately-colored basegame wool.

My animals are still thirsty for some reason and wont drink by themselves

They might be stuck.. try leading one to water or removing and adding a new water source. This is a bug in the latest version.
I'm in a world that was created with Animania, using milk obtained from an Animania cow. It's the most recent version of Animania.
Forge 2387.

Are you sure you have the right breed of cow?

Change it from Better models, textures, and animations to Better models, textures, animations, and sounds
Just wanted to say that I really like the added touch of the rams fighting. Also, the hamster's are adorable and I have too many of them.
Mandy
Thanks Jc. I did put a lot of time into the sounds
