I have a question of lava tank cart. Can it hold molten metals from Tinkers Construct? I have this awesome idea of my metal processing factory, where lava tank cart has the important role of taking molten metal out of arc furnace and hauling it 5 blocks further to the casting area.
So I've recently spun up a server with the Traincraft mod and have been trying to build a rail line to deliver oil for fuel production however I can't seem to get the railcraft liquid loader's redstone signal to work. If the loader is two blocks up the redstone signal works however the tank cars do not fit under the loader. If its 3 up the tank cars fit and load liquids but the redstone signal to release the car never makes it to the holding track.
Has anyone been able to automate the loading of tank cars?
i don't know if there is advanced liquid loader you can use it if it exists and if not you can build a redstone wire to activate the track if you don't want to use it try signal controllers and receivers to get wireless redstone tho these can be tricky

the normal tanker cars should be able to, but i believe the lava cart is limited to lava specifically.

The railcraft loaders should work fine, although I've never had to get a redstone signal to one for it to load it.
If you hit F3+B you can see the hitbox it's supposed to interact with (which isn't very big), and also the one that fires off the activator rails, that should help.

Lava cart uses model of molten metal cart, that is used in steel mills. I think it will be reasonable to allow molten metals for it as well (extreme heat is no joke), and not allowing them for other tank carts.
I also managed to drown my locomotive in a 1 block water stream. "Locomotive was drowned" or something. Is this supposed to be so? Locomotive just disappears from existence, doesn't even drop itself.
Congratulations on the update! I was out of the loop, now I'm eager to see new stuff in my world!

We will look into support of molten metals for the lava cart if it allows us to use other things out of the box.
Maybe this is supposed to be like that. It's a straight port from 1.6.4 where we didn't even saw most of the functions that the trains are using due to the fact everything was working. Since our first release in 1.7.10 we made Traincraft a lot more stable for the users. I think it's supposed to disappear because you would need a crane to get it back out of a sea e.g. Maybe this was something "realistic" in MrBrutals vision.

Since trains are now 3 blocks height, If you put loader above 2 blocks, Train will stuck...
In my option, I use pistons to make liquid loader work, but vanilla pistons will not work, so I use Pistronics 2 Mod to do this work (That mod add some modular pistons)...
Use Railcraft advance detector to trigger the piston
When train arrived, It will detect the loco and pushes the loader to the current position, It will load the fuel into the loco (Work same ways on the other tank cart too), When the fuel tank was full, it's will send the loco out just like normal liquid loader did.
And when loco departed, detector no longer emit redstone signal, so the piston pull loader back to prevent train cart been stuck.
We will look into support of molten metals for the lava cart if it allows us to use other things out of the box.
For the lava cart, There's a perfect example in the Thermal Expansion mod, The Florbs.
Florbs is a spacial liquid capsule in this mod, it can hold almost every liquid, and can be thrown like eggs and snowballs, when collide on any blocks or entity, it will break and place the fluid at there...
But must importantly, This "Water balloon" comes with two variants, The normal one which can be filled with most liquid, And a "Magmatic Florb" which can only holds "Hot fluids"(Such as lava, pyrotheum, and most molten metals), When loading the liquid, It will automatically detect the fluid, If the fluid is not hot fluid, it will unable to loading in.
So... if you can enable this hot fluidmechanism into the lava cart, that should do the trick.
P.S. Sorry for my poor grammer, My english is not good.
//EDIT this was unintentionally a double post, so instead I'm gonna change it to a news post.
Been working on some dynamic rendering and shaped rails for the 1.7/1.9 rewrite, starting with some 'blended' vanilla shapes, but later on I can expand the system to include all the rails in TC.
Basically the system works by providing the 4 vector 3's necessary for a de casteljau's beizer curve to each shape, along with the blocks in length to define the segmentation.
Here's what i mean by 'blended' it renders as if it's multi-block so it's smoother. Later on I'll be able to take this same system and make it actually multi-block like the rails in TC's port.
Still need to cover the pitch rotation for the parts, and blend the segments together, but if nothing else this is a good example of the progress on the new rails.
Aside from the rails a lot of other systems are done, and I'm quickly running out of bugs to fix, so hopefully stable alpha release soon (alpha sounds early, but beta is when I'll actually start adding content from the TC port).

Thanks for the heads up. Was a really good tip - didn't saw it until now. I used an other system before but you had to manually add all the required fluids to the lava cart.
I checked what they did and had to adapt it to Traincrafts way of handling the containers. Never thought that there is a getTemperature method in the FluidRegistry.

should have asked me, I use it with my Thermal Visor to detect hot liquids. I don't know why it exists but it's pretty darn useful.
I Believe the last I Saw it was on 1.4.7. Anything older should have it too.
found a good use for the Rio Grande F3A unit: hauling coal loads.
in the image that (hopefully is) attached, I have a DRGW coal train heading northbound (facing south and west) with a Pennsylvania caboose at the end

Say no to those "Low-quality MCreator Mods" !!!

I feel the trains are too 50's 60's or 70's except 2 or 3.
Well, most of them are. We'll be getting new trains with time, the 1.7/1.9 rewrite will even be getting support for maglevs and monorails.
