Anyone else ever look at the stacks and stacks of eggs in their survival worlds and wish you could eat those things? Seems silly that such a great source of protein goes to waste in the game right?
So ... I know there have been "egg" mods in the past - I've used a few of them myself. But ... since none of them have updated for Minecraft 1.9 yet (I think) and since I recently got the itch to try my hand at Minecraft modding ... I thought I'd whip up my own egg mod!
Notes:
Each of the food items fills up a slightly different amount of hunger. I prefer whatever mods I use to make Survival mode realistic but fun so I don't want these recipes to be overpowered! If anyone thinks the food/hunger settings need tweaking let me know.
No native Minecraft items have been altered so it should be safe to add or remove from your Minecraft saves without breaking anything
Again this is my first mod ever so please be gentle with the feedback. That said, if anyone tries it and has feedback let me know and if it's worthwhile input I'll make the necessary tweaks before calling this version "1.0". Especially chime in if anyone has ideas for new egg recipes!

Yeah I kind of suspended reality a *tad* for the cheese ... it's yellow dye. I tried to use orange too but not sure that recipe worked yet.
Well, you could always make curds and whey items. Made directly from milk and stackable. Put a milk bucket and two bowls on the crafting table. The bowls on the crafting table turn into "bowl of whey" and the slot for what you crafted has 2 curds. The bowl of whey is stackable. Then cheese could be made directly from the curds and the whey could be used in some buff or another food item.
I know that this is a third comment, but I just want to ask if the mod is dead? It's a wonderful mod and passing it on would be preferable to letting it die off.

FYI first build for a 1.10 compatible version has been uploaded - should be approved by Curse shortly and should automatically show up in the downloads area.
I know that this is a third comment, but I just want to ask if the mod is dead? It's a wonderful mod and passing it on would be preferable to letting it die off.
Sorry for the delay! My notifications for this thread somehow stopped coming in. My son kept bugging me for a 1.10 version so here it is! (should show up shortly). As for future plans - I'm pretty busy but I'm up for suggestions if anyone has any major changes/additions in mind?

FYI - just pushed up tweak for 1.9, 1.10 and 1.11 that simply changes the cheese recipe to make 16 cheese from 1 milk / 1 yellow dye instead of just 1 cheese.

Wonderful! 1 cheese from an entire bucket of milk always did seem a bit much. This makes the cheese recipes more practical.

I posted this in the general Mods forum but no one's responding/biting so thought I'd drop here too in case anyone using the Egg mod has thoughts:
Last night I thought it would be neat to have a mod that added some more recipes for the potato ... another vanilla Minecraft food that is far under-utilized! Think of the possibilities! (none of which would break immersion): French Fries? Potato Chips, Potato Soup, Mashed Potatoes (+Butter), Hash Browns, Potato Pancakes ...
Anyhow .. *IF* I got the time to work on something like this I'm wondering if I should bundle it into my "Eat the Eggs" mod or make it a standalone mod? OR ... are there already enough 1.10/1.11 "food" mods so that there is no real need for a mod for potatoes?
I would love to see it bundled into Eat the Eggs. Perhaps mostly with recipes that call for eggs or cheese to keep it closer to themed since cheese is already part of eat the eggs. I don't know if it sounds stupid, but have you considered some form of salt extractor or something to the effect that can be placed in ocean biome water to collect wet salt? It would then be put in the furnace for salt for recipes.
Edit: Just realized that I should have posted this on the other thing. Posting it there too.

Well, you could always make curds and whey items. Made directly from milk and stackable. Put a milk bucket and two bowls on the crafting table.
