Coming here to say I love the mod, but I do wanna state something Ive recently run across:
I'm guessing there is some kind of limitation on the exported map size to ~105 Megapixels? Cause Ive been mapping a 14,000 x 14,000 server and the exported map size seems to max out at 10240x10240.
I guess one way I could export this properly is to move some of the #_# zip files till the dimensions are under 105MP, export that, put another set of the zip files in, export, and composite together the exports.
I'll fully admit what I am doing is quite insane and a very fringe use case, so I don't expect you to update this or anything. But I found it just kinda interesting.
I just made a new instance and copied it over, and this time it worked. I swear to god, I've done this at *least* 6 times so far and it hasn't - why is it as soon as you make a report/complain it starts to work?
*edited to add* Actually, I did one thing slightly different this time, I started the pack up and logged in to the server so that the folders were created already before I copied them over, then just overwrote with the old stuff. Before I was copying the folders over before they were created by running the pack on the server. No idea if that made the difference!
In one of the times it happened, I noticed that the waypoints filename was renamed between instances - in the first couple/few iterations it was "mw-3,1,2_1" but then the filename that appeared in the folder was "mw0,0,3_2" so I took the data out of the old and pasted into the new named one, and my waypoints at least came back, but I've lost (and since deleted apparently) the actual map data.
Is there any way for us to make a compilation type map BTW? Share which parts of the world we've explored with each other?
The folder name changing is probably the reason it didn't work previously. It wasn't related to updating the pack. Did the world spawn of the server change? Because of how multiworld detection works, the mod sees it as a new world when it happens. If the server uses the compass item for anything other than pointing to the world spawn, then it would also explain the issue.

Thanks! I'm planning to make it possible to select a custom region to export. And yeah, saving such large images is a very extreme case, it's limited because RAM is limited. It might possible to save the image in parts to the same file, instead of saving the whole image from RAM at once, but this can become quite complicated. A quick Google search shows that it might not be possible if we're talking about a PNG (which just means it's very difficult to do). That being said, I can definitely look into it further, it's not of the highest priority at the moment though. There's not that much demand for it.

Just wanted to follow up and let you know that yeah, simply copying the folders over works now - must have just been something weird when the server started =) So much happier with that! Thanks again for the mod! =D
I didn't think of that with the zip files! Will definitely be giving that a go! I'm an explorer, so I've been over a LOT of ground, and was trying to work out the best way to actually make a map that I might be able to share, as the exported image isn't really useful at all - was beginning to think I would have to go through and cobble together screenshots!

I'm probably going to make multiworld detection optional in this mod too (it already is in the minimap mod), which should help prevent the "mw-3,1,2_1" from changing. So if it's a simple server with 1 world save, then you'll probably find it useful.

When I try and view my map, I have to wait for "sections" to load as I scroll around it. That's not a problem, but when I try and export a map, I get left with lots of "white" where the map hasn't loaded yet. If I scroll around the map and try to get more of it to load, so I can export a proper version of it, some of the stuff I have already loaded goes back to unloaded again. (attaching an export to show you)
Mind you, I think the outer edges of my map would be from 100,000 to -100,000 so it's kinda big!
Is there anything I can do to get it to show more at once so I can share my area with other players on the server? I did try to remove some of the zip files, as DeScruff_2 said he was going to try to do his map, but the game just crashed on me when I tried that =)
Fully understand if it's just that I am nuts for trying to map as much as I am trying to do, and makes it impossible to work how I want it to! =D

That's weird, unloaded areas should not look white in the export. What version of Minecraft is it?
Removing zip files should definitely work. Don't do it while the game is running though.

Hahaha! I'm so used to going into the pack to find an exact mod version that I am looking at the list of mods going "I can't see which version of minecraft it... oh!" =P
Minecraft Version: 1.14.4 - forge-28.1.90 - version 1.5.0.1 of your world map =)
Will try removing zips again later! Didn't think I did it while the game was running, but maybe I did!
Just logged in to the server real quick to test the export again, without opening the map at all, and yeah, all white except the bit I am in (attached)

Thanks! It's definitely a bug. I haven't had time to test it myself yet but I have a feeling it might be a compatibility issue with something else you're using. If you're using Optifine, what version is it?
Hopefully I can include a fix for this in a bug-fix update I'm planning to release next week.
Also, because I don't know if it means anything, or what any of the stuff inside the folders mean, should I have multiple "mw" folders inside the "null" folder? It doesn't seem to have multiples inside any of the other saves I have - admittedly though, in none of them have I gone madly out exploring yet either! Inside the server "null" I have mw0,0,3 - mw-3,0,2 - mw-3,1,2 - mw-4,0,-4
I was noseying through the folders hoping I could find images to cobble together =P I see that won't work though! =D
*edits* Also, I don't know if this makes any difference to anything, but I have two game accounts, and log into both of them on the same server at different times - it doesn't seem to me like it's saved per user, rather is saved per server, but just in case, thought I would mention it!

Thanks for the info!
"mw" folders are for multiworld detection. Does the server have multiple worlds like a hub/lobby and other types of worlds?
EDIT: Multiworld detection is based on the world spawnpoint because a "proper" way to do it doesn't exist. So if the world spawnpoint was changed in the past or the vanilla compass item is modded to point to anything other than the world spawnpoint, then it would explain the multiple folders. I've recently made multiworld detection optional in the minimap mod and I'm planning to do the same here.

There's a mining dimension, using YAMDA, but other than that, not as far as I know! Server admin is sleeping atm so can't check with him til tomorrow.
I did notice another thing BTW - if I try and export a map, while I have the earlier one open I crash - happened yesterday too, and I actually asked my server admin to look at the log to see if it was the map that makes me crash, but the log actually stops before the crash, so I didn't mention it. Happened just now again though There is a whole lot of this message right before the log ends, so assume it is the map rendering!

The white unloaded areas turned out to be caused by a very simple bug and it was there for quite a while now. I'm not sure how nobody mentioned it until now. So yeah, it will be fixed soon.
As for the crash that happens if you have the old export open, it's probably your computer running out of free RAM, which isn't difficult to achieve when playing a modpack. Having a huge image open can definitely use a lot of RAM depending on the application that you use to view it.

That's the thing (one of the things!) that was confusing me - I expected them to be a huge file size (roughly 10k pixels each way so expecting it!) but they are 740 KB roughly! Assuming because there is still so much black - and white instead of colour! So they aren't eating up much RAM to have open!
Anyway! Am really glad you found that bug! =D I'll have to nag at server admin for update when it's out! Thanks so much!

It's only 740 KB because of compression. Size on the disk isn't even close to what the image takes up in RAM/VRAM, so an image like this can easily use 400 MB+ of RAM.
And you're welcome!
EDIT: BTW, being out of memory doesn't always mean that you're actually out of memory but can also mean that a continuous section of required size can't be found. So if you have less than 1 GB free when playing the modpack, it's not difficult to "run out of memory".
EDIT: Should probably also mention that (with some exceptions) the map starts unloading regions when you're low on VRAM, so it's safe to assume that you're in that territory.

Thanks for that info - I might need to do some checking on my PC then, cos I have a decent(ish) system - 16 gig ram and 8 gig video card. Will start to monitor it a bit for a few days!

No problem. It really sounds like it'd be hard for you to run out of memory, but if you have a ton of things running in the background, then it's still possible.
EDIT: BTW, like I said, there are exceptions. If you're not using an NVIDIA or AMD card, then the region limit is not based on your VRAM.
* Compatible with Xaero's Minimap / Better PVP 1.19.0+. Not compatible with older versions!
* Fixed unnecessary map reload after loading the whole map for a dimension, then going to another dimension and returning. This caused some performance issues and potentially rare bugs.
* Fixed compatibility with Aroma1997s-Dimensional-World and other similar mods.
* Fixed some non-transparent blocks being recognised as transparent only because they are in the translucent render layer (Ore Stone Variants).
* Fixed unloaded map regions appearing fully white in the PNG export.
+ Added check for the per-world teleportation config in the minimap mod.
* (1.12.2 and below) Fixed cursor coordinates option not being visible in the settings.

I apologize if this has been asked already, i went through about 12 pages before I couldn't go on any longer lol
I LOVE this map but I have so many waypoints saved that it's starting to get in the way of my FOV. Is there a toggle option to hide them on screen?
Thank you! Yes, there's a key binding you can set. You can also do it from the minimap settings. Organizing them into different sets could also help.
