The only thing I can't figure out on the tessellator is how to make it do the repeated texture stitching like the ModelRenderer class does. It's so easy to say "make a box here", and get one that has a texture that's the same as the rest of the plane. ModelRenderer only does boxes, though, and has the annoying habits of butchering bordered texture mappings like glass (I use the tessellator for windows) and not allowing for the rotation of textures. That being said, it does force me to stay with the 'block' modelling style of Minecraft, so maybe that's a good thing.
If i understood correctly, i think i may know why, actually.
It's core OpenGL mechanics: If you pass in texture coordinates <0 or >1, textrue will be repeated. When using ModelRenderer, i think, it automatically creates this texture repeating. When using tessellator, you are probably using texture coordinates between 0 and 1, which stretch the texture to vertexes.
As to temp dependencies, that shouldn't be hard to do. I can add in an abstract render method like renderIce() that'll get called when the plane's been in freezing temps for a few minutes. Only difficult thing is figuring out the exact formulas.
Yeah, formulas are hardest part here. But ice should affect flight too (it's quite heavy for wooden plane), right?
The problem is the optifine , you must download optifine B6, it will be solve
Optifine is not installed on his system, nor is it a requierment for running Minecraft Forge. Please refrain from making false statements like this.
@crazytmonkey
Try these steps to get it working:
Install a fresh copy of Forge. I use the one here.
Right-click on the .jar file and open it with Java (you may have to use the 'open with' option and locate Java in the 'other programs' section).
Click 'install client'.
Once installation has been completed, open the Minecraft launcher.
Create a new profile by clicking 'new profile' in the bottom-left corner, and select the forge version *1291 in the 'use version' box.
Launch profile.
Now about 1.8:
I detest maintaining multiple versions of a mod, as it means I have to constantly move code over and switch coding styles. 1.8 isn't my preferred platform either, due to the fickle-ness of the .json files that abound. I have yet to look into porting the mod, but if I do I'll most likely update it only when there's a major update for 1.7.10. Personally, I don't see what people see in 1.8. Sure, there's some new worldgen and blocks and stuff, but it's not like you're getting another redstone update. That, and Mojang's insistence on playing fast and loose with memory means it causes lag spikes on my old lappy.
@ReTeYeZ
You're right; non-burnable items like Galacticraft fuel won't work in the planes. I think that's a bit of an oversight on the part of the mod developers, as it makes their fuels less compatible with other mods. Yes, oil is transferable between mods as long as they use the FluidRegistry, but what happens if you have a mod like mine that doesn't want to use RF or another energy source? I suppose I could set a burnable time manually for those items, but I'd have to know what value to use. You wouldn't happen to have any suggestions on what those values might be, would you? Lava buckets currently fuel a plane 1000 units, for reference.
@elix_x
You would't know how to duplicate the repeating texture functionality using the tessellator, would you?
Ice would make the plane heavier, but more importantly ice causes the lifting capabilites of the plane to degrade. Either way, mimicking the effect of ice is simple, figuring out how much damage the ice does is hard.

Theoretically - yes, practically - never tried that. What you do, is use 16*16 orginal texture (instead of atlas'd icons) and set values above 1.0. For example: for texture to be repeated 2 times on x axis, x texture coordinate is 0f and u is 2f.

Realistic flight in Minecraft has never really been implemented. Even the elytra doesn't take into account true aerodynamics. Minecraft Flight Simulator aim to change all this, by introducing planes that handle like actual planes! To do this physics and aerodynamics are used, taking into account thrust, drag, lift, prop pitch, and much more. Controls are also tailored to provide a simpler means of controlling planes than the current mouse-yoke standard, which allows you to look around as you fly. You can even customize your planes by giving them different propellers and engines, which affect their flight characteristics.

Features
Realistic handling of planes makes flight much simpler. Planes can be put in circular holding patterns and will climb on their own power.
All rotating parts do so at the correct speeds. No slow-moving propellers here!
Multi-entity planes allows for accurate collision detection and breaking of parts during rough landings.
Plane components like engines and propellers can be customized to create hundreds of unique planes, each with their own capabilities.
Unique camera system makes it so you can fly a plane and look around at the same time.
Crafting recipes are material sensitive; seats take the color of the wool used to craft them, and the MC-172 take the type of wood as its texture.
Controls
W: Pitch down
S: Pitch up
A: Roll left
D: Roll right
I: Increase throttle
K: Decrease throttle
J: Yaw left
L: Yaw right
Y: Flaps up
H: Flaps down
B: Brake (disables parking brake)
RIGHT_SHIFT+B: Engage parking brake
M: Start engine - you can also hit the propeller until the engine starts
RIGHT_SHIFT+M: Stop engine
PG_DOWN: Zoom out
PG_UP: Zoom in
RIGHT_CONTROL: Toggle camera auto-follow
Pressing the P key will open up the key config editor window. Use it to change any of these settings!
Crafting and creating
Crafting planes and components is easy! Just use these recipes. Note that any recipe with a TS at the end of the name indicates that it is type-sensitive, and must be crafted with parts of the same type. This means that you can't mix and match wood types with a TS recipe. You can, however, use ANY type of that material in the recipe, which influences its outcome. One example is the MC-172, which must be made with only one kind of wood, but takes the texture of that wood when crafted.
MC-172(TS):
Seat(TS):
Wooden propeller:
Iron propeller:
Obsidian propeller:
Small Wheel (any wool):
Small Engine (1.0 fuel per tick @2800 RPM):
Small Engine (1.2 fuel per tick @3000 RPM):
If you want to create a custom propeller or engine, you'll need to know about their codes. When you use the give command you'll need to input the code as the item's damage value. Propellers are specified using a four-digit code number that defines their properties. The first digit is how many multiples of five the propeller's diameter is above 70. The second specifies how many multiples of three the pitch is above 55 degrees. The third is how many blades the propeller has, while the fourth is the material code, with 0 standing for wood, 1 for iron, and 2 for obsidian. This means that the standard propeller for a MC-172 is an 1120, or 70+5*1=75in diameter, 55+3*1=58in pitch, 2 blade wooden propeller. Similarly, a 4241 would be a 90in diameter, 67in pitch, 4-blade iron propeller.
Engines are a bit simpler, in that they have only two parameters. The first two digits times 100 plus 1000 is the engine's maximum RPM, while the last two digits divided by ten plus 1 is the fuel consumption per tick. This means that the basic small engine (1.0@2800RPM) has a code of 1800, while the advanced small engine (1.2@3000RPM) has a code of 2002. Remember that the fuel consumption is based on the engine spinning at the maximum RPM; the 1.2@3000RPM engine uses only 1.12 units of fuel per tick at 2800RPM.
Pre-flight checklist
Before you go flying, there's a few things you should know:
If you need to access the plane's GUI, just shift-right-click the center of the plane.
Planes require fuel to fly. Currently their internal combustion engines run on liquid lava, which can be inserted into the fuel tank by opening the GUI and placing a bucket of lava into the slot with the gas pump icon. If the bucket doesn't fill it means that the fuel tank is full, or there's no room for the empty bucket in the adjacent slot. Each bucket provides 1000 units of fuel.
Should you run out of fuel during flight, don't panic! Planes can glide for a long way even without power.
Remember that the faster the engine is running, the more fuel it consumes. When you get up to your desired altitude you can let off the throttle to conserve fuel. This doesn't result in much of a speed loss, and makes flying much more fluid.
Flaps are used for takeoff and landing. 10 degrees is customary for takeoff, while landings can use as much flap as necessary to slow down. Make sure to remove the flaps after takeoff, as they slow you down and increase drag.
Braking force depends on how many wheels you have on the ground. Landing crooked is not advised as it reduces the effectiveness of your brakes. Also note that planes won't turn on the tarmac well unless all wheels are down, so keep that in mind when speeding on taxiways.
Other notes:
Currently I'm NOT allowing use of this mod in modpacks. It's too early in the development cycle and there's bound to be a few bugs that I've missed. When I change this policy I'll make a post to the forum.
If you want to contribute to this project, I'm glad to have the help! One of the largest uses of my time is creating models, so if you have one you'd like to have put in the mod let me know. I'd be more than happy to give you credit for it by putting your name in the item name, or name on the tail.
Another big use of my time is finding out the properties of airplanes. I'm always happy to get feedback on performance or properties, so don't hesitate to correct me if something seems amiss.
I see your point. My main beef with fuel is that I don't like the thought of putting any burnable things into the plane. The idea is that the plane engine is an internal-combustion type, which means that it must have liquid fuel to run. Lava just happens to be the only vanilla fuel that fits this criteria. I like the idea of letting engines run on regular fuel or oil too, as it allows for better compatibility with other mods. The bucket requirement is just so I can avoid importing other mods; if I let people put in Galacticraft fuel canisters I have to import Galacticraft to make the canisters, as well as make a bunch of checks to see if there was already a bucket in the slot to begin with. I suspect that there's a way to allow the config file to dynamically add fuel values as it finds liquids, but I haven't looked that far into the FuelRegistry and Configuration classes to be sure.
@elix_x
I mean damage to the flight performance of the aircraft. Basically, how much lift goes away when you get ice on the wings.

I see the problem. I'll release a fix soon, but in the meantime you can prevent a crash by placing a seat in the driver slot prior to placing one in the passenger slot.
OK so I kind of discovered when look for a mod...... Long story short I see potential for this mod and I would like it to be unique not like flans, mcheli, archimedes or any other transportation mod. I like the props and I would like to know if we will get any modern props like twin otter, Bombardier dash 8 or islander and will we get a virtual cockpit?

A cool idea, but might be going beyond the scope of this mod is realistic plane dog fights, where things like guns and stuff can happen, and then if you can make loop-the-loops possible, then it would also make that even more fun, as many people still use flans for the guns, and some people just like like the horrible physics. Also, can we have a status update on the new plane?

Hmmm, sounds nice. I think when our lord don_bruce is done with the planes, he might refine some things, and cockpit might be one. I would love to have instead of the HUD/GUI/Thingy that pops up, some controls in the plane that move accordingly to your keypresses and such, like rudder pedals etc. One thing that would be great if we got more modern sort of planes would be a wheel at the front which is motorised and can move so you can taxi down the runway with ease
That's the fault of Minecraft having digital inputs. There's no way to tell how hard you've pressed a key so I can't really mimic real flight controls. I can add a config that'll keep the position of the control surfaces, though.
@Ravin8910
The best way to get familiar with the flight controls is to give your plane an overpowered engine. This ensures that you don't have to experiment while constantly worrying about crashing. A good command to get one of these engines is /give <playername> mfs:SmallEngine 1 3000. This engine has a much higher RPM than the stock engines and doesn't use fuel, so you shouldn't have to worry about falling out of the sky.
@Wolfraider
If by virtual cockpit you mean realistic rudder pedals and yokes? Possibly. Gauges are easy to make. Models are hard. As to other planes, see the next comment.
@MrAwesomCreeperFace
Loop-the-loops are already possible: you just can't perform them with the stock engines that are provided for the MC-172. If you spawn in another, more powerful engine you might have better luck.
Guns will not be implemented until I have a plane that's enough of a fighter to put guns on.
Not sure why you need the wheel for taxing. Just put the throttle up a bit and let the plane do the work for you.
Now as to planes:
As I've said before, I'm not good at modelling. Currently I've logged about three weeks worth of coding on the Trimotor and it's still not ready. This doesn't make me happy as I've got two other mods that need attention, as well as numerous real-life matters. Once the Trimotor is done you shouldn't expect any more planes from my hands.
That being said, if you know of any modelers or models let me know. To add a plane I just need to make one file with the properties, so if I've got a model ready I can get a flyable plane in a jiffy. It's all the modeling that kills my time and prevents me from working on features like passenger loading, cockpit gauges, and autopilot.
By the way, here's a pic of the aforementioned plane.
If i understood correctly, i think i may know why, actually.
It's core OpenGL mechanics: If you pass in texture coordinates <0 or >1, textrue will be repeated. When using ModelRenderer, i think, it automatically creates this texture repeating. I see the problem. I'll release a fix soon, but in the meantime you can prevent a crash by placing a seat in the driver slot prior to placing one in the passenger slot.
Anyone want to join my server for flight simulator at play.flights-of-insight.com
Decided to mess with your mod, I must say its cool, though I can't fly... I nose dived like 3 times blowing up my plane...
Check out my modpack if you are looking for a tough modpack, though its still having stuff changed here and there: http://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/deadly-encounters
Also using agricraft and pam's harvestcraft and want to fix the sesame seed issue? I know how to check my bio for link to see how to fix it.
ya the controls are not the best because you cant make small adjustments to the control services unless you contently are tapping butuns
Its all about knowing how to control the craft

I know that much, I just was never able to fly planes in video games.
Played a lot of the GTA games and most planes i flew crashed into the ground, so my friends banned me from flying if they were with me.

@Crazytmonkey
That's the fault of Minecraft having digital inputs. There's no way to tell how hard you've pressed a key so I can't really mimic real flight controls. I can add a config that'll keep the position of the control surfaces, though.
@Ravin8910
@Wolfraider
If by virtual cockpit you mean realistic rudder pedals and yokes? Possibly. Gauges are easy to make. Models are hard. As to other planes, see the next comment.
@MrAwesomCreeperFace
