I like this. It's actually really similar to an idea I had, to be able to upgrade banners to work as navigation markers. Now if there was just a craftable minimap to go with it, I could use this and wouldn't feel like I was cheating. (I hate how most mods make the Vanilla map and compass totally obsolete.)

I 100% agree with you. That is why I still haven't added a fullscreen map to my minimap mod (not craftable unfortunately). I am planning to make a separate mod now, though, since everyone suggests it 24/7.
Thanks for the great mods. I like them because they remain true to the game. Are you going to be updating Craftable waypoints to 1.8.9? This mod is perfect to allow easy travel that must be earned and is closer to end game. and requires payment to maintain. Thanks for the good work.

Possibly, but not in the near future. I have almost no free time at the moment and when I do I'm going to be making a new mod which is very highly requested.
And upgrading to 1.8.9 is first on the list anyway.
Forgot to post the latest update here:
Update 1.2.1 (MC 1.8):
* Fixed waypoint "shaking" when view bobbing is on.
* Waypoints are now displayed correctly in the third person view (F5).
* Fixed how the game detects if you're looking at a waypoint.
* Waypoints will now automatically become bigger when using Unicode.

This looks like a very clever survival-friendly mod that I intend to start using soon. I do have a query though. Are the waypoints visible at any range, or is there a distance from which they cannot be seen? I'd love it if the latter were true.

* Upgraded to 1.10.2
* Improved player location security.
* Fixed other players being able to access your private waypoints inventory with teleportation wands.
+ Added light beams to waypoints.
+ Added capes as Patreon rewards.
Anyone using any of my mods (after a certain mod update) will be able to see capes on Patrons (including themselves).
* Other minor bug fixes.

I made this mod just for fun and downgrading to 1.7.10 is very far from being fun
That's really too bad. 1.7.10 was a bit of a cornerstone for Minecraft MP, and the reason so many mods/servers still use it.
Our server is going to re-launch with a new game in the next few weeks, and we re-evaluated which MC version to run on. We use a lot (100+ mods), some of them big ones, and the overwhelming favorite MC version was still 1.7.10, hands down.
Perhaps if/when you get time you'll reconsider back-porting the mod.
As a sidenote: we're switching to your Minimap/Worldmap, so thanks for those.

Thanks for the feedback! Maybe in the future if I have time and feel like it ^^
Right now I'll need to focus on some other mods that I have abandoned, and hopefully make them better. I also promised 2 new mods this year and I have no idea if I will even find time to make the second one XD
But yeah, maybe I will one day wake up and feel like going back in time with this mod, who knows
So installing both mods doesn't end up potentially giving the player 2 different sets or lists of waypoints: is there already or could there be Xaero's Minimap integration? Meaning Xaero's Minimap waypoints and Craftable Waypoints waypoints are one and the same. So they both use the same settings for visibility, both show up in X's Minimap waypoints list (also carries over to showing up on X's Worldmap), you can use the wand to teleport to (e.g. previously-made) X's Minimap waypoints and as such. There could also be a config option to disable X's Minimap free (wandless) teleportation if there isn't already.
More possible config options:
-disable X's Minimap free waypoint-creating, defaults to on if Craftable Waypoints is installed.
-require a waypoint item in inventory to place an automatic Death Waypoint.

My minimap already displays craftable waypoints
The world map will also have this feature soon.
I don't think I will combine the 2 waypoints lists. I don't see a reason for doing it + I think it will only cause confusion. Why do you want your crafted waypoints on the edit/teleport/add screen when you can't do any of these with them? You can do all of it in-game using a crafting table and an anvil, would like to keep it this way
Plus it's waay too difficult to do (code) for almost nothing in return, main obstacle being that craftable waypoints are stored on the server side and minimap ones on the client side. I should probably add a way to hide the crafted waypoints though!
If you want to disable free teleporting, disable cheats in your world ^^, it uses the /tp command, or any command that you specify in the settings. Wand teleporting will still work.
I don't see why you'd want a config option to disable the minimap waypoints. You can disable them through the mod settings if you want to. Anyone could edit the config file anyway XD
I REALLY like the deathpoints idea!
How do you download this mod?
