what version of forge, what modpack? what version of mapwriter, what version of minecraft.
check the saves folder if there are images there.
the mod shouldnt delete the map. only thing i can inmagine is that it isnt saved properly or the server name/IP changed.
I knew I forgot something. I shouldn't even have made that post without the important information. I will update Forge to see if that was the problem. If it isn't, I'll reply back here.
Also, 2.3.13 doesn't save waypoints for some reason.

When I rejoin the game after getting kicked/lagging out, the map will redraw itself. The blocks are dark, but I can usually see liquids. This is fixed when I restart minecraft, but it's annoying to do.
i think that for some reason the mod is having problems with saving the data to your hdd.
this would also explain why waypoints are not saved.
i tested with the same mod en forge version as you on the wyncraft server and every thing worked fine. (i did see something odd with the labels on the full screen map but i blame optifine for that)
as for the multiworld suport i have no real idea how i can detect a world change and what world you went to. if i ever find this out i will add the function
I am also trying to update this mod to 1.8.8 ( forked from Vectron's 1.8 branch ).
And I think I am success! ( maybe)

In 1.7.10, with opis's Mapwriter, things work.
Changing to this Mapwriter, my minimap goes completely white.
Optifine is present, but does not mess up the Opis version.

only have it here for bug fixes. most things i do are for 1.8+
I was going to try this mod for 1.8.8/9, but it seems the file was deleted. :/
there was a bug in that version, i will reupload again today after i did some testing.
Been having "problems" with this mod.

delete the blockcolours file, and the config file. that shoul fix it.

Me and my gf are playing on a single player game on my computer that I open to lan so she can play.
I am using minecraft 1.8.9
pixelmon 4.2.1
forge 11.15.1.1722
The real issue I run into is when she exited the game it is not saving the map for her. For me it is.
This error comes up alot in the output screen
[mapwriter.tasks.Task:printException:50]: java.lang.NullPointerException
We looked in the folders and the mapwriter saves and there was none. I gave me my maps to see if that would work and it didn't.
How do I fix this issue?
