remove Not enough keys (NEK), or update mapwriter i removed my support for it.
i'm kind of at a loss here... the map should just update old files when you fly over them. there are no errors in the log or something that could explain this?
it does make sense (kind of), if i remember right then when you visit a area all the zoom levels should be updated. but there might be a bug with this. i'll look into it and see if i can find the problem.
Can't get this mod to work with either version for 1.9, with any release of forge for 1.9. The crash reports always comes out the same, something about buffers in an illegal argument exception.

Now that I've had more time to examine this it does seem the mod can't or won't generate images that are about 2-3 levels zoomed out from the level that you used to visit an area. For example if I fly over an area at level 1 (the most zoomed out) then I can zoom all the way in with no issues. But if I fly over a new area at level 9 (almost zoomed in) then images of the map won't show up if I zoom back to level 6->1. I think this explains the issues I had over the past few months thinking that it wasn't saving areas I had been to - it simply wasn't generating those areas when zoomed out so I though they were still black.
hmmm that might explain alot. i will try this out if i have the same problem, and check the code that could be cousing this.
I do have a texture pack enabled, yes. Now that I look at it, it does mention getTexture and generating block colors. Is MapWriter only compatible with the default texture pack?

it should be compatible with texture packs, what it does is grab the textures from the VGA and get the block colours out of it.
i will try and reproduce, it might be a incompatibility with latest forge or something.
I was able to get the mod working, but now some biomes are a light-gray color.
try and delete the blockcolours file
189 release not work in forge area =/
yes thats the one i mean.
i need more information than that.

i dont like NEK, so always play without him
cant update mapwriter because it latest release under 189,
what version do you need then?
Amazing, you save my life with this mod!
but you have source code? like in 1.7? https://github.com/daveyliam/mapwriter
(Edit: I found it in main page haha)it does make sense (kind of), if i remember right then when you visit a area all the zoom levels should be updated. but there might be a bug with this. i'll look into it and see if i can find the problem.

thx, i will test new version (she come out at same day when i posted issue)
I've tried it with and without my other mods. Crash still comes out the same.

do you have a texture pack enabled?
or are there any other errors in te log about texture stuff failing?

Cubic Chunks Suggestion! (Link in text mode because banner image is 404) Cubic Chunks Mod below:
I'm on minecraft 1.9 and the maps textures are messed up. Im using the PureBDcraft pack. That "stone" is a forest. Any ideas?
it should be compatible with texture packs, what it does is grab the textures from the VGA and get the block colours out of it.
i will try and reproduce, it might be a incompatibility with latest forge or something.
delete the blockcolours(override) file and revisit the area
what biome is that then?
