the book will place them for you. left/right click to cycle pattern, shift-right click on the ground to place it (if you have the required dusts/are in creative). documentation is on the tooltip (shift for extended tooltip)

that would work (activating logic is triggered in the block), but now there would be no real use for the staff, so I'd need to figure out new recipes for the book and pouches. also, accidental activation would be easier and that could be a problem if the "destroy dust on invalid pattern" config is enabled (maybe shift right-click would be better, although it breaks the "holding shift bypasses block activation" standard).
While we're on the topic of balance, should automatically placing dust with the book use XP/hunger by default?
Wonderful work on this mod, I loved runic dusts back in 1.6.4 to commemorate the old runic dusts: I give you an incomplete sword pattern made entirely with the classic dust.
EDIT: ill probably extend the blade with the current design and probably redo the handle. the crossguard turned out well, though

Release day! I decided to keep the staff for now (only requires glass and gold nuggets now) and did not implement the inscriptions because I want to take the time to do them properly (or almost properly, I doubt I'll make a GUI for now) as part of the main mod.
Rune of... I don't remember. it raised blocks in a pillar though.

An idea came to mind whilst i was messing around with this mod. Would it be possible to place runes on yourself? Like paint a small rune (I'll just call them glyphs) on your forehead or arms or feet which give you abilities. I've always wanted to mod minecraft but never new how to start so I wouldn't know how difficult this would be, but I would assume a prototype would be to just craft and wear it like armor with the intent of there later being another interface for glyphs on your individual body parts. Just imagine in F5 there being a lightly glowing glyph on your forehead. Thoughts?

There is a (currently in development but almost done) feature that allows to craft "inscriptions" that can be worn in either the chestplate or Baubles amulet slots that do just that! they don't get rendered as glowing symbols though

I just pushed the update that adds the inscriptions. It should support MC 1.9.4-1.10.2, but uses the latest version of Baubles and may not be compatible with previous versions.
With this, the classic dusts pack is mostly feature-complete in terms of content. Next steps include writing better documentation here and on the curseforge page and porting to 1.11, although I will probably not get around to it until January.
What's the range on the Teleport Rune? Can it teleport between linked blocks as long as two areas are chunk loaded or does it work as long as it knows where it's going?

If regular is Vanilla then what flavor is your Minecraft?
Nice! Perfect for transport hubs! Is there going to be a wiki for this mod? I feel there are so many useful runes that it may be needed to strategize about them out of game for a while.

Can we have screenshots of the runes? I can't figure out any of the patterns.

I plan to make that glass instead of a diamond. empty-handed activation would conflict with placing/breaking

So does anyone know the recipe for the bags, book, and staff?

Well your doing a good job, this mod is one of my favorites.

As usual, feel free to flood me with bug reports

It should be able to teleport between linked blocks regardless of chunkloading. networks are separate for each dimension though
