Automatons are technically steampunk, which can count as that time period.
No, it doesn't count as that time period. Steampunk-related stuff has to do with the Industrial Revolution more often than not. Medieval stuff is... well, medieval.
I know this is probably highly impossible, but would we be able to transform into a werewolf/vampire and be able to operate the giant automation mech like the builder does? I know there are mods for that but it just sounds really cool because your models are just amazing and perfect. If you do think about it, it doesn't need to be complicated, just seeing myself transform with those animations is good enough.
I'm making a custom map and would like to know if there is any way to get generated mobs to respawn where they were generated such as cyclops, dragons, sirens, etc..

If you make the map in Minecraft, it will generate things for you, no questions asked. However, if you did it in Worldpainter, you'll need to tick "allow Minecraft to populate the entire terrain" on the dimension properties screen or the export screen (when exporting your custom world).

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
What if you just use a pressure plate with respawn commands at respawn points. Or a similar command in a command block set to trigger every, 10 minutes or so.

I would like to see this feature added. Or at least natural spawning rules added to the config to have dragons and Cyclops spawn like Hipogryphs do.
100% Agree with cyclops, that's what i thought they'd do at first.t he caves are pretty lame imo, especially with the spawning of the caves(they usually spawn half midair onbeaches and such) I'd also like this with stage 1 dragons or something, or like a stage before stage one.

My Discord ign is The_Naked_OwO#6969/308030940280520734, i don't add people i don't know though.
I was in the aether dimension, from the aether legacy mod, and started a fight with a dragon, I noticed that when pushed off a border the dragon just falls, so I get near the border to see if it falls to the world below or just starts flying, and the dragon bites me!, and falls below dragging me in his fauces!
Suddenly the screen starts loading another dimention, the overworld dimension I assumed, but I'm still in the fauces of this dragon, so I get free from it, and slowly fell to the ground thanks to a golden feather, but the ground never loads, or so I assumed. I look up, the dragon is flying elsewhere, having lost interest in me, I look down and try to see the land where I'll fall, when suddenly I start getting hurt, confused I try to jump, to attack, to do something, until I die and appears the message "You fell out of the world"
So, yeah, a dragon just tossed me out of the world.
Yes, I've had my eye on that one too! It looks very promising. But, so far, it seems to me that the Various Oddities are not yet spawning into the gameworld. I don't know maybe I messed up something?
I'm also taking a good look at Custom NPC's by Noppes. I think these two combined will open up some great options!
Regarding the Automaton
I have to agree that this does feel a tad out of place since almost all of the mobs in this mod feel they come from either the ancient period or the medieval period. Automatons and to a lesser extend golems do feel more like they belong in Steampunk. Steampunk is a genre of science fiction that takes place during the Victorian Era of Britain and somewhat during America's time of the Wild West.
You know, I guess the main thing is to see the model of it first.
But, it does open up a really exciting possibility because I've seen medieval fantasy blended with some light steampunk elements typically through the Dwarves. I've seen that in World of Warcraft, Morrowind (Eldar Scrolls 3), and Warhammer 40K (before the Dwarves were eaten).
So, I think somebody could create a really cool Steampunk pack with this mod. I could see Thaumcraft in it and Davinchi's Vessels for Airships.
I also have heard that Fossils and Archeology Revival is being updating for 1.12. If that's the case, then I would love to have that and this mod in a Steampunk pack. Reminds me of Journey to the Center of the Earth which is classic Steampunk fiction.
Speaking of killer robots, look up the Necrons from Warhammer 40K sometime. Their story is pretty cool.

I'd also suggest the Dwarven Automatons from Skyrim as well, they were freaking amazing, and well-made when it came to fitting them into Skyrim's diverse underground landscape. Made me excited just to set foot in a Dwemer ruin.

Oh okay, I think I see now. The first time I encounted the Dwemer was in Morrowind. That's Eldar Scrolls 3. Skyrim is Eldar Scrolls 5. Yes, I've been around a while.
The Dwemer, although I didn't realize it at the time, have a very Steampunk element to the them. So in Morrowind, I would find these big weird looking structures all over the place but they were empty. They used a lot of copper and brass colors in the buildings and most of the time they had these clockwork style golems walking around in them. A lot of the times, I had to fight them just to get in the door.
I haven't played Skyrim for more than a couple of hours mainly because I know that I'll get stuck in it like glue. I find that it's a lot easier for me to turn Minecraft off.
But, for funsies, I think this golem would go very nicely in a pack with the Embers mod. I can also see Thaumcraft 6 in it too. That would be cool.

The model has been released, though.
Anyways, as unfitting as the regular automata may be, I feel that they are pretty nice. Unlike most of the other mobs showcased recently, they contribute to the "mysterious mythical world" feeling that Phase I has going for it, and they even fit the mysterious, "barren" feel Minecraft has. As well as this, the fact that they come in two kinds is pretty cool.
However, I feel that the Automaton Creator is the opposite of that; not only is it way more unfitting of the mod's theme than the regular automata, it is also straight-up cheesy. The last thing I'd want to see in a nearly completely myth-based mod is some evil scientist villager cackling his head off while stomping around in a giant robot and blowing everything up.
Nope. Automations are unique and definitely needed.
No, it doesn't count as that time period. Steampunk-related stuff has to do with the Industrial Revolution more often than not. Medieval stuff is... well, medieval.
Ah, yes, killer robots. Very unique and incredibly vital. What kind of medieval monster mod would one be without them?

You can get the first two from their respective mods, or both with bewitched.

I don't think you quite get what I'm asking.. Is there a way to make, say for instance, a dragon to respawn at it's roost once it's killed?
Not without using a command block or something, no. Which it would then have to somehow be triggered by a player or drop anyways...

Oh, well, no, unless you use a command block triggered by a player, like Edgy said.
