interesting mod, not sure i'd ever eat worms, but i kinda figured you want to do the fishing thing before anyone said it anyway, i'll try to remember to keep an eye out.
why a mod for 1.8, though? that's.... strange... very strange.
I haven't been playing Minecraft for that long. I actually started after 1.8 had come out, so was first exposed to 1.8 vanilla survival. Then when my buddy and I started to play online and I set up a spigot 1.8 server, and the performance was awesome.
Then we experimented with more mods that would add content, and most of those were Forge 1.7.10 and the mods were super cool, but the performance was nowhere near as good for me. My computer is good, but fighting mobs was more difficult (hits registering, lag) and riding a horse would cause my game to hitch up every 1 or 2 seconds. In 1.8 everything works super smooth for me, so I decided to start making some mods for it so that I can have interesting things in a 1.8 SMP server.

very interesting, from what i've gathered excessive (and bad) memory use is the chief reason a lot of mods might skip straight to 1.9.
don't get me wrong, glad you're modding for the next version early really, too many wait until everyone's nearly done with the current MC version and then act surprised to see people waiting for an update just a week later.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
Yeah I agree. Btw, if you saw my other comment, I don't really eat bugs lol.
Had I known you said that, I would be laughing as well. Being a person from the states I'm not keen on eating bugs of any kind. However, My character in minecraft loves them a lot.

Downloads hit 1000 recently. That's awesome! Thanks to everyone who has tried out the mod. Sorry it's been a little bit since an update, things have been busy at work. Still planning a couple new features for Worms, and I have a few other mods in mind that I think will be cool.
Thanks for letting us know, even though you didn't have to, and as hikachan says: Take your time and don't rush. Last thing we need is a another mod to go inactive (not trying to be rude more out of trying to be supportive.) Here is a for your mod. "Love it and hug it and call its name George" If you know where that reference came from then you've earned my respect.

I haven't in a long time now. I loved the looney tunes. Best cartoons around hands down IMO. Not like the cartoons of the 21st century. Since you knew the answer you have my respect sir.
To Mr.Pike: I have a question Can you add in Sandworms? I don't know exactly where they come from, but if the name is anything to go by, it should come from digging sand from the ocean biomes or sand in general. If this idea isn't appealing, then you don't have to do that, I just thought I would suggest.

I am also wondering now if you (Mr. Pike) are able to make grubs come out of modded trees for the highlands mod
Thanks DTSW, This is now resolved. V 1.1.2 out now.
I also noticed that new trees in Biomes O'Plenty also weren't dropping grubs. This fix should make sure that it works with any other mod, assuming they set isWood to true when defining their new log blocks. Tested in Biomes O'Plenty, and the version of Highlands you linked.
Also, I don't think I'll release sandworms right now, just because I think that with the blocks that worms/grubs/larvae are dropping from you should hopefully be able to find some in any biome.
Also, how do you guys feel about the chances for bugs to drop currently? Are you getting too many, still starving? Or do the rates seem good?
For me the rates seem fine. Having a config file though really helps with that issue if you get too much. I get plenty from each tree mainly because I was in a Dark Oak Forest and those trees drop a ton of grubs when the tree is chopped. Thanks for the update. This mod screams fishing. One idea you could look at is to add a "nightcrawler" which could be a rare type of worm. You could then see if it is possible to make fishing require a worm, If that is possible, you could have the "nightcrawler" increase the odds of catching a better fish by some amount.
Another cool use for worms would be for the creation of some type of compost. You could combine the compost with bone meat to make fertilizer which would be used to help plants grow.

I agree that fishing would be great. I did spend some time trying it out. Because of the way fishing and the bobber work in vanilla it seems as though I might have make an entirely new fishing rod and bobber to get it working. I'll check into it again at some point.
Compost is a good idea as well. If you want a mod that adds an alternative check out Pig Manure. Really cool little mod, pigs will poop every now and then. Then manure can be applied directly just like bonemeal, and you can smelt the poos into bricks I've set up a small pig pen with hoppers under it, the manure is just funneled into a double chest.
I like the looks of this mod and will probably add it to my Explorer's Club modpack.
And because I can't resist a good flame war:
screw MC 1.7.10. Man, I hated Minecraft's old renderring system so much that I updated to 1.8 even before Forge did (using the beta pre-release of FML). 1.8 haters need to try out some 3D texture packs (without mods, pure vanilla Minecraft) before passing judgement. Finally I can separate coding from textures and models and potentially let someone who's better at art replace my models with better ones via a texture pack. Also, my GPU performs better (more FPS, less lag) with the new VBO renderer than the old draw-one-polygon-at-a-time system of pre-1.8 Minecraft. Furthermore, the graphics helper objects in Minecraft 1.8 do more for you than in previous versions so you don't have to write as much raw OpenGL code (and OpenGL is WAY HARDER than any other programming language or library I've used). On top of all that, the new Minecraft commands /summon, /fill, and /setblock make testing mods a lot faster.
I am done with MC 1.7.10. I won't go back!

Thanks a lot DrCyano, it means a lot coming from you. Hopefully it will be good in an Explorer's modpack, it was meant to be an early game/exploring type mod
Is the modpack just for you, or do you play online somewhere? I have my own small server, but it's just me and occasionally one friend now. I think I should start looking for a new place online to play a bit.
The Explorer's Club modpack was intended for use on my server with my friends and also as a showcase collection of mods that work well with my own. I'll be making a major overhaul to the Explorer's Club this week because I want to switch to using a platform that automatically updates the clients mods when I update the server, such as the Technic launcher.

Ah cool, I had a look at the mods list on the thread for the pack. Very similar to the list of mods I am using. If your server ever becomes open to applications I'd be interested.
Everybody: I'm looking for suggestions. Back in post #32 I put up a screenshot of a white box. This was meant to be a bug box. And my thought was that you'd be able to multiply your bugs in here. The GUI might work a little like a furnace, where you'd have 1 or 2 slots for bugs, and one for food (the block each type of bug would drop from (ie. dirt for worms, logs for grubs, cactus for larvae.) After some period of time the food would be consumed and you'd get extra bugs.
After a while I wasn't sure this idea was interesting. Is this something you'd actually use, considering a beef farm would give much better sustenance? I suppose the advantage would be that this is essentially a farm in a box.
Any other ideas for the bug boxes are more than welcome as well!
