Mistcraft is a mod that adds in mist from Final Fantasy IX(9). Mistcraft itself is mainly just a base mod for more mods to come. These add-on mods will do anything from allowing you to manipulate the mist for your own needs, to generating redstone flux(TE).
The mistcraft base mod aims to add in the mist biomes that the other addon mods will use for they're own content.

Update 1.5.7 is now available for download from curseforge: http://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods/229270-mistcraft/files/2233043! Make sure to download the version lableled: [UNIVERSAL] If you don't know what dev versions are, then you don't need them! I would recommend making a new world for this update, as it fixes previous biomes and adds new ones!
Yeah those titles are quite similar. i might change it sometime. if anyone have some good ideas for names, feel free to either post them here or pm me about them, you will of course be credited!

The only name i could think off of the top of my head is 'Misty Manipulation'
And a new release is available, it adds nothing new, but it's for 1.8! NOTE: The 1.8 version is unstable and is therefore in alpha(use at your own risk). The mist effects are no longer in the mist biomes, this is obviously being worked on but it will take some time to get it fixed! Thanks for your patience!
The mist you're adding is already possible if players play with normal vanilla settings, for example, a short or tiny distant will give you the same effect. The only difference is that, you mod does not allow players to alter their settings while in your biomes, and you also have more planned to use the mist. My question is, if the player uses a machine to convert the mist into flux, will that slowly increase the player's ability to see in the mist biomes?
You just summarized my script for the mist right there. With that said, there are no other "easy" ways to create mist/fog without doing so.
As for your question, the plan for flux mod is to have a set amount of mist being in each biome, when the set amount is reached the biome will be converted from say a "mist plains" to a normal plains biome. Having the ability to see better in these biomes as the mist decreases would be possible but would be quite a bit of work, i shall consider doing it after figuring out how i would go about doing so!
Well, if that's your plan, how about overhauling vanilla biomes with your biomes? Until players successfully get rid of the mist, they are forced to play in your biomes; if players do get rid of the biomes, then your mist biome automatically changes into vanilla biomes with the corresponding name
That idea isn't too far fetched, but would require me to disable the biomes from naturally spawning, which a lot of people won't like. So this will either be an addon or a config option.

Version Changelog:
- Trees now spawn in mist forests.
- Flowers no longer spawn in mist biomes.
- Mist Desert biome added.
I almost mistook this for a Mystcraft thread..
But just almost?

That could work for one of my planned addons for the mod, which is all about using the mist for redstone flux, creating water, and similar.
