I'm currently trying to build a pack based strictly around water and air exploration (with a heavy "pirate" theme), and am currently limited to using minecraft boats.
Once this mod is out, I plan to created custom ships (complete with Davinci's Vessels blocks) which the player can try to board, conquer, and steal/salvage.
So, yeah. I've definitely got my eye on this, haha!
I am extremely excited for the 1.10.2 version, I think a while back I played either this, or some zeppelin mod and it was incredibly fun moving my whole base with me. Great work, this looks awesome.
Hey so I noticed that some of the air balloons are very lightly colored. The red ones almost look pink, even. Don't know if this would be an easy fix but I was hoping that'd be changed in the next update, otherwise my ship will look more like an ice cream cone XD
Hoping someone can help me out: I play MC 1.7.10 with lots of different mods. I Have Archimedes Ships in my pack (not really sure of the version as the .jar file does not say, but I think it my be earlier version as the Anchor block is not in it) I built a ariship and placed a helmblock. I could access it fine and rename the vessel and it accepted it as an airship. But when I tried to mount the ship my game crashed and now I can't log back in. I've spent quite a few hours on this world so I really hope someone can help me out.
-Fix Bugs for Cogs in the Machine + Arc. Ships interaction
-Allow movement throughout craft while its moving (perhaps through somesort of Cruise Control or AutoPilot system? Bacca Yarro did it with Movecraft)
-Add Propellers that must be powered by Steam Engines in order to propel the craft forward.
-Custom Trains. Instead of Air balloons or Floaters, a Cart Block (not a real Minecart) with rails laid beneath it make the craft. Big Trains should be able to run on Two Rails at one time.
-Fix Bugs for Pistronics + Arc Ships Interaction
-Allow multiple players to board a craft, not just NPCs
-Damage Counter:The craft has HP like any MOB after being built. It's HP is determined by how many blocks and what type of blocks it is made up of. Once a craft runs out of HP, It sinks and the ship helm is destroyed.
-The allowance of more blocks. I cant seem to get it to work myself just by messing with the config, so thatd be awesome if it was auto.
-submarines
-cranes, hooks, tethers for connecting other craft or blocks
-sound effects (steam engines, wind, props etc)
-Airplanes, add wing blocks to differentiate from Airships just as Cart Blocks differentiate Trains from Boats.
-Is there anyway to get NPCs/Mobs to spawn with their own boats/airships that actually move where the NPCs want to go?
If you want custom trains, check out traincraft. Not custom, but there are just over 85 trains. Also, although they are a bit buggy, you already can make submersibles. just make sure the interior will not overflow with water, and there's an option to submerge(Like I said, still kinda buggy, try to keep submarines box-like I guess). Also, there's no need to make airplanes if we have airships, you can already make airships that look like planes, and you can make them fast with steam engines. Plus, Flans mod has a bunch of planes.
Oh, and darkevilmac, if you're reading this, I know you've heard this before, but ADD SHIP WEAPONS AND HEALTH.

I'm currently having an issue trying to get a pretty large submarine to work in 1.7.1.0, its around 5044 blocks and made of mostly stone and iron, I upped the maximum chunk size but it still gives me an error and tells me to check the console log, is this because of the density of the blocks?

Is there any way where you can build a boat and put entities on it while it is assembled? Like the metaworlds mod? It would be nice if we can start the ship and move around on it while the ship is moving and open doors and stuff.
From what I understand this is impossible unless the mod is completely rewritten. The reason you need chairs and crates to move entities in this mod is because it let's darkevilmac focus on creating more content opposed to slaving away to make a system which is inherently hard to create (minecraft was never created with this type of movement in mind) work. The reason metaworlds works is for the same reason it doesn't interact with anything; it's essentially two different fixed dimensions in a single space. Which is a clever workaround but has its own problems (such as meta worlds not interacting with the world). While I do think it would be awesome to walk around on a ship, I'd rather have a mod that interacts with the world (unlike metaworlds) and doesn't lag so much that it throws people overboard in mp (unlike the ships mod). The only reason this mod accomplishes these things is because it doesn't have these freedoms of movement aboard the ship. Then again, I'm no expert, if someone corrects me later in this thread, assume they're right.
I've used several version of this mod, and only have one complaint, I'd like to be able to stop the ship, and the walk around on it, without fully disassembling it, so that it doesn't connect to blocks and it is easily mountable. Essentially a "parking feature." It's hard to get out of big boats without flying in creative, unless you disassemble it first. I always end up pushing the boat as I fall through it and it goes flying off into the sea.
Sorry for going silent, I've had little to no time for side projects lately which has sort of halted development. The mod isn't dead there's actually only one bug left to fix before release, I've just had very little time to fix it. I have asked this question to the original mod developer around the time the mod first came up and he had trouble knowing how to make it so you can walk on a ship. the way modern minecraft is going do you consider adding a way of improving a ship through RF? people can still use the mod normally but rf could add some upgrades to a ship. now going to the original point. is it feasible to make it so you can walk on a ship? with passengers? and add working cannons?

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?

I really need some advice on how to fix this.

Would it take a while to impliment this "two dimensions in one space" thing. That sounds good to me.
