This is a small mod, which adds in buttons for each of the different color codes available for Bukkit servers. Just hit the button and the color code will be added to your current message! Note that this will not work in singleplayer, as the codes will not be translated into colors.
Update 1.2
Huge code quality improvements and efficiency improvements
Config options allow you to rescale and change the display of the GUI
GUI now opens in every GUI with a textbox, not just pre-defined vanilla ones
Unicode table can be modified using language files (may change this to config in future)
You now have the choice to input vanilla or Bukkit-style color codes - take note that on singleplayer and some servers, using vanilla codes in chat will auto-kick you and, in singleplayer, will crash the game
Update 1.1
Version 1.1 adds a new Unicode table! Add in Unicode characters from the GUI into chat, signs, command blocks and anvils! Note that color codes now also work in signs, command blocks and anvils (although rainbow mode does not work in signs, as it would only allow for 5 characters on each line anyway).
Also included in the mod is a rainbow feature, which will automatically generate rainbow text as you type using color codes!
Incompatibilities:
None known as of yet. If you find an incompatibility, please leave a comment.
Definite known compatibilities (provided by Sniper_Delta_02):
Step 1: Download the mod and Minecraft Forge from the links above.
Step 2: Install Forge using the installer.
Step 3: Open appdata\roaming\.minecraft (Ctrl+R, %appdata% to open appdata)
Step 4: Copy and Paste the mod zip file into the mods folder in .minecraft.
Step 5: Run Minecraft with this mod installed!
But seriously, if you could do unicode that would be freaking amazing. There was a mod a while back that did this (oudated, can't remember name) and it was really fun to use.
OH SICK, MAN! I want to let everyone here know that I've been following this mod since the very beginning! I'm glad it's finally done and that I can now use it for business and pleasure. Keep up the good work, pal.
I haven't actually used this yet (but I will soon probably), and before I do I was wondering how the compatibility with mods like Tabbychat is. I can't live without tabbychat

I've never used TabbyChat before, so I don't know how well it would work with this mod. If you're willing to test it out, I'd be very grateful. Unless TabbyChat dramatically changes the data structure of the chat GUI, it should be alright.
It would be nice if you could add this function to signs. Some servers that I play on have that feature.
I've added the functions to signs (command blocks and anvils too), but sadly I'm going to need to fix some rendering bugs yet. There are also a few issues with rainbow mode, due to the very short limit of sign lines, so I've disabled rainbow on signs for now.
On another note, I'm working on a unicode table!
Tell me any thoughts you have!
1.1 for Minecraft 1.8 is out! A unicode table and GUI for signs, command blocks and anvils is included!
(Note that while the GUI renders underneath regular GUIs due to Forge limitations, it still works and colors/symbols can still be used.)
The 1.8 version isn't working for me. This shows up in the log.
FML has found a non-mod file Color Code GUI by NukeDuck [1.8][1.1].zip in your mods directory. It will now be injected into your classpath. This could severe stability issues, it should be removed if possible.

Try renaming the .zip to .jar, that could fix the issue. Otherwise, what version number of Forge are you using? I've never seen such an issue before, everything worked fine in my installation.

Is there anything like this for version 1.7.10?
I haven't released a version for 1.7.10, but I could certainly make one for that version. Stay tuned!
Other than that, this mod is really useful.
