How about some way to use a specified item or block of choice from the backpack on left click? Now that'd be a super sweet upgrade, and maybe a way to get around the issue of the resupply only working on item pickup (which is next to useless for certain things like concentrated essence berries).

Restocking upgrade will be getting an overhaul in the next version so it is more useful, which means the item specification you are describing should be unnecessary.
1.2.2 is out. 1 new upgrade and a couple quality of life changes. Get it while it's hot!
EDIT: 1.2.2 has a bug that resets your hunger (derpy me forgetting to take out debugging code), update to 1.2.3 to fix this. Sorry for the inconvenience!
EDIT 2: It seems I wasn't careful enough with testing the Player Item Use on 1.2.2. I broke the crafting upgrade and the basic filter, but they are fixed now in 1.2.4. These hotfixes should be unnecessary, but at least they are fast xD
not tested this in a while can you equip these like you can in the backpack mod?
For the 1.7.10 version, yes, look at the main page for all the features. For the 1.8 version, no, look at the old spotlights/changelog to figure out what you can do with it.
Just getting back into playing Minecraft after a short break, and I just had to pop on here quick to say that finding out backpacks are now equippable has just made my day. Loving the other new updates as well. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! It did take a while, but I managed to get the functionality I wanted without needing to include a dependency
Is there any possible way to make the treated leather? I can't see any crafting recipe for it, so is it not craftable in 1.7.10?
There shouldn't be any issue with it. My only idea is to try deleting your config (if you haven't made any changes to it) and letting it regenerate when you start your world so the default values/recipes will be correct. If that doesn't work let me know and I will look into it more.
I have an issue with iron backpacks and lag/time out. I have a diamon backpack with crafting upgrade and basic filter upgrade. I have it set for cobble and coal to filter into bag. Cobble/coal also gets compressed up to double compressed cobble. If i keep mining until my inventory is full (terrashatter) When my inventory reaches full the server tps drops and we experience server lag. I can reproduce this quite regularly. 1.7.10 version
I am having the issue currently that i can not change the key bindings for these backpacks (because i need B and R for something else). With this i also can not equip them for some reason.

Playing 1.7.10 version.
Very strange. Can you describe exactly how that is happening (steps to reproduce ideally)? Are you on a server or singleplayer? If server, does it happen for others? Any mods that may be conflicting? As a reminder, bug reports go here please. If you wouldn't mind, repost the issue you wrote here there and add in your reply to my questions above ^

I will look into my code to see what is going on, but it probably won't be a particularly fast fix. Does it only occur when you have a full inventory or does it happen elsewhere? And is a full inventory a full backpack, a full player inventory, or both? As a reminder, bug reports go here please. I think you may have misread my comment, I only wanted to know how to make it. I'm not entirely sure how to make it, and it doesn't show how to with the mod description.

You can use NEI to see the recipe in-game. You can also configure the recipe to be whatever you want it to be. The default recipe is 1 leather, 1 water bucket/container that you get back, 1 lime dye, and 1 flint.
I released a new (beta) version [v1.2.8] today. It has some bug-fixes and optimizations, and now (unequipped) backpacks can supply items to Botania's Rod of the Shifting Crust (exchange/equal trade rod). Full changelog.
Not that this is definitely a beta version! Unfortunately my computer recently decided to not work nicely at all, and I get 2 fps on modded Minecraft (the issue is with my specific hardware or software and not with the mod), so I can't test anything at the current moment. However, it should play nicely, and if not let me know on the bug tracker and I'll fix it as soon as I am able to. <-- Edit: It was a driver issue.
As promised, 1.2.0 is released! Feel free to go out and test it.
As a reminder, bug reports go here, and the more detailed you are the more likely it is I can fix it for you.
Thanks, and enjoy!

Do you know what was people were doing at the time of this crash? I can't reproduce in dev.
Could you try with 1.2.1?

Where can I see the alternate GUI?

Shift right click while holding any backpack.

I just pushed 1.8-1.0.6 for the 1.8 builds.
Localizes all the things and allows launching in a 1.8.8 instance.

I guess I could add that as a temporary measure.
Honestly, I could do the entire "back"pack (hehe) feature in about 2 hours minus rendering. I'll look into it later today.
Edit: I got something that works going. Need to knock out the TODO's listed there and it should be good for release.
