First I wanna say I love the mod and appreciate the work you put into it!
Second, where are the waypoints stored locally? I am using a different IP to connect to my favorite server and I'd like to know where the waypoints are stored so I can copy them and they will work on the new IP as well.

OMG I'm SO happy!! I was so upset when I saw it was removed and looked like it would no longer be developed! I dislike the fan-update of Rei's cause it's incredibly buggy, and Journeymap has a strict 'no modpack perms' license which makes it annoying to use, not to mention I can't move while I have the full map open. This just seriously brightened my day!!
Any chance in getting spectator mode to work with the minimap? What I mean by this is when I click a player or mob while in spectator mode, the minimap doesnt move with me, it thinks im still at my old position. But F3 shows my coords and direction change as the player/mob that i am spectating moves. But the minimap doesnt.
I noticed a bug with the 1.8 version that waypoint markers and beams sometimes dissapears depending on what level I stand on and where I am looking.
I tried to get it on video, but since it's so random I hardly got it on camera, but it happened quite often when I was in third person mode for some reason. Here's a video showing it:

I know all about that one unfortunately. I appreciate you reporting it though! But don't worry about the details and when exactly it happens, I know exactly why.
Minecraft does a much better job of not rendering things that are occluded now. If an entity is somewhere you can't see it (behind blocks), it won't render. Keeping the waypoint entity where it's always visible is pretty easy. Unfortunately I also want to render them after mobs (for purposes of transparency with respect to the mobs) but this is a lot harder now. Instead of rendering in the order in which they appear in the entity ArrayList, they render in order of distance, so I try to keep the entity a bit farther away to render after at least the nearby mobs. It's a balancing act, and right now it tilts towards what you are seeing, where the waypoints sometimes (infrequently) disappear.
The whole thing is related to how you can't see Beacon Blocks' beams if the block isn't in frame. They've fixed that in 1.8.1, so I'm hoping that can give me a clue for a better solution for waypoints for next version!

Thanks for the update, Mamiya! (I think I remember you from ancient Vegastrike days...)
EDIT: I left the launcher open and grabbed the game output. Looks like there's a conflict with, or issue caused by Optifine. As soon as I removed the Optifine jar, the minimap worked perfectly. Here's a pastebin with the output (beginning was cut off by MC) http://pastebin.com/sc1uqVeB EDIT 2: Optifine's latest update fixed the issue
Good to hear! And yes, I was around for Vegastrike (and the Privateer Remake)
I really like Voxelmap. One thing though- I can't teleport. I assume I should be able to in singleplayer. My son can in a LAN game but I still can't.
Aside from that, have you considered adding a clock? REI minimap for 1.7.10 has one and I miss it.
Thanks!
Teleportation requires commands to be enabled for the world you are playing on. That can be achieved after the fact with NBT editors, or open it to LAN (nobody else actually has to connect) and allow commands

Huh I'll check that out. Some people on the server I play on were testing out spectator mode the other day and discovered that people in spectator mode don't appear on the map. That's a happy accident, and not something I programmed in We didn't notice anything about the map not moving while viewing from another entity's viewpoint though, but again it wouldn't surprise me. If the fix isn't too hacky, I'll do something about it

Those are some good memories! Here's an old in-game shot and a shot of the Orion model I made. I think the Privateer Remake is now as old as Privateer was when the remake came out! Time to remake the remake. I'm sure someone will do so in Star Citizen or something haha

Great!
And a suggestion. Could you make it so when your in spectator mode, it shows other players in spectator mode? Assuming its possible, i dont know how minecraft handles spectator mode. Maybe it handles like vanish and just doesnt send packets to other players in other game modes?
Also, about my previous msg about the minimap not moving when viewing from other entities. You could just do a check for which game mode player is in, and if gm3, get the cords from the same place the F3 screen is?

Fixed map not following the spectated entity. It's pretty easy actually. Instead of grabbing coordinates (and yaw) from minecraft.thePlayer, I'm getting them from minecraft.getRenderViewEntity(). That's usually thePlayer (so same behavior as before) but it isn't always! Will be in next upload
Showing other spectating players in spectator mode is doable - it's the difference between Entity.isInvisible() and Entity.isInvisibleToPlayer(player). Deciding whether I want to clutter up the view with other spectators, and if so, whether to make them more see through or something
This is by far one of the best map mods for minecraft. It has the most superior mini-map out of all map mods out there, tons of options and it just does everything right. However, it lacks a good large map, that's my biggest concern. These days I run voxelmap and journeymap, voxel for the minimap and journey for a big map. I just don't like how the minimap works on journeymap. It's just not as good.
First of all, thanks again for the awesome mod.
I don't know if it come up in this thread already but an option like MapWriter in VoxelMap will just make it the perfect minimap mod available.
also, I would like to give a hebrew translate for the mod, i'll send it to you in a P.M now
I'm wondering if there's any chance to run VoxelMap on 1.7.10 without the need of liteloader?
I love your map but I don't want to use liteloader just for one liteloader mod.
This is, by far, my most favorite map mod. Low overhead, cave mapping, excellent nether mapping. I thank you so much for continuing this mod and once all the mods I use are updated to 1.8 (which will be awhile I know) I am so happy this is ready to go!
Load Optifine with Liteloader? You really should read up on some of the instructions mod authors are leaving, just laying around.
Do mind that if you're talking about 1.8 then it's pretty much impossible right now. Almost everything is early beta at most and not exactly made to be compatible. I.e. Optifine probably won't work with anything else no matter what you do.
EDIT: Or not. I forgot sp614x added compatibility with other tweaks some time ago to 1.8
I tried putting Optifine in the mod folder, and thats all LiteLoader says to do.
Plus, Optifine has nothing about LiteLoader. Only - wait for it - MagicLauncher

being a minimap has always been this mod's focus. Journeymap's big map is really great. I've considered doing something like that before; see this post for the complications: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/2261180-voxelmap-1-8-a-minimap?comment=48 (replace MapWriter with JourneyMap, same idea)

Can I put this in a public modpack? just asking.EDIT: Nevermind saw the permissions on downloads. ignore this post.

Okay. Well is there a way for me to use Optifine and Liteloader (plus voxel map) right now?
I got Voxel Map and Liteloader working but not Optifine
