No it is not for changing biomes. It is a modular device that can be used to give the player buffs in a certain area like regeneration, speed, night vision, flight, ... It can also prevent mob spawning in that area. All this is controlled with modules that you insert and of course will also require power.

Ah, so it's like a machine that gives a localized version of a dimensions background effects? If so, do they use dimlets? It's what would make sense to me.

Well in a way you could look at it that way. I was actually planning to make most of these modules craftable out of the same essences you need for crafting equivalent dimlets. So not the dimlets themselves. For example, for the Peaceful Module you would have to get the peaceful essence (which you get from gathering essence with the syringe from 9 specific mobs).

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

Speaking of bat wings ...
Portable in the sense that you can pick it up and place elsewhere. Yes. But you can do that (with a lot of effort) with the beacon too :-)
Flight essence would probably indeed come from either a bat or a ghast.

Waw finally someone who uses my endergenic generators :-)
I'll check out if I can find something wrong with the infusion. I will let you know if I find an issue.
Ok, found the problem. I did the infused calculation wrong. I will fix this for next release (which will be for later today). BTW. I'm interested in seeing your setup. Also you should be getting a LOT more RF/tick out of it so I'm guessing you're probably just using my example setup from the wiki (which is sub-optimal)?
I have been finding out that I am one of a relative few who seem to be digging into the endergenic generators. I understand the principle behind it, having read everything on the GitHub wiki and all of this thread, and I find the concept fascinating. I am also intrigued by the potential in combination with other mods that will allow me to generate vast amounts of power from tweaking timings, distances, substances, and perhaps even the delivery method of the ender pearls themselves into the injectors.
yes i am using your example set up to learn the concept so i can plan how i want to change it/ make it better. thats when i noticed some of the stuff was not working as expected. i'll download the new release and see what i can come up with. i really like this power system, makes you think about more then just putting fuel into a block and your done.
Ditto. I have crawled the 'Net for designs, ideas, anything in relation to the endergenic generators and their inherent mysteries and potential. With that in mind I have started a thread as a sort of "think-tank" for the endergenic generators and their potential designs, applications, and work-arounds/solutions to any of the practical implementation of these.
A new feature. The Environmental Controller. With this block you can control the environment around you using modules. It can affect a cylinder shaped area around you with a maximum radius of 100 and possibly going from the bottom of the world to the top. Of course, larger areas will require more power. There are currently 4 different modules implemented (and their 'plus' versions): regeneration, haste, speed, and saturation. Many more modules will come in the future.
New wireless redstone logic blocks. There is a redstone transmitter and receiver. These blocks have no GUI. You simply link a receiver with a transmitter by right clicking the receiver on the transmitter. You can also link a receiver on another receiver so that it is linked to the same channel.
Various new screen modules:
New redstone screen module that can show a different text based on a wireless redstone signal. To link you also right click the module on a transmitter or receiver.
New Counter and Counter Plus modules. These interface directly with the Counter logic block to show you the current state of the counter.
Implemented the inventory module. It can show up to 4 slots out of an inventory. Also added an inventory plus module.
Small refactor of the screen system to have a slightly more efficient way to send over data from the server to the client side module
Changes to the counter logic block:
Added WAILA tooltip showing the current counter value for the counter block.
Optimized the counter block by no longer doing an update every tick but instead only checking for the counter when redstone value changes.
Increased power capacity of the crafter to keep up with fast crafting setups.
Fixed the tooltip of extract button on the dimlet workbench.
Added a custom death message when power runs out in a dimension.
Implemented achievements for RFTools.
Apparently the RFTools dimensions didn't properly set a seed with the result that all rftools dimensions basically used the world seed. As such there is nothing wrong with that except that I now want a way to control the seed. Easy to fix but to make this compatible with already generated rftools dimensions I had to add 'world versioning' to dimensions. So all old dimensions will now be version 0 and new dimensions will be version 1.
Added a new 'special seed dimlet' that can be used to copy the seed of a dimension into the dimlet and use that to force the seed of another RFTools dimension. This only works with new-version rftools dimensions though.
Added efficiency and mediocre efficiency essence items for the dimlet workbench.

That update sounds exciting! I'm playing on a RR-mainline pack atm so I probably won't see those features soon, but still
A few questions as I learn more about your mod. I've been loving the dimensional builder aspect and it seems quite stable. The random 'luck of the draw' dimension creation is fun but I want to nail down the mechanics of the dimlets. Your wiki says that the order of the liquid and material dimlets matters - they have to go before what they are affecting. That makes sense. Is there a list somewhere of *all* of the possible dimlet tweaks just so we can see what a proper order would be? I must be doing something wrong, as the ones I'm attempting to create do not come out right. Let's say I have a 'molten gold' liquid dimlet. I don't care about any other features of the dimension, just want gold lakes/oceans I put that dimlet in the enscriber by itself and store the card. However, the dimension I get has a different liquid, not gold?
Another odd issue, perhaps not related but just odd - say I have a sky red dimlet in my hand. I toss it to my friend, and she says it is sky black. Toss it to another friend, they read it as sky green. Put it in a chest, we still all see differences. What might be causing this?
I really like your projector machine is it possible that you will add maybe some Modular Force Field System stuff to your mod? that shield machine is nice, but if you have a huge base, and want to protect the inner core a machine like MFFS would be cool (so that you don't have to place the shield template all by yourself instead you can choose a form (like a cube) then the range and and there is a storage block who you have to put on those template blocks so that you can generate a huge shield?
I would like to suggest having the new redstone module be able to read values from the counter and display them, as well as possibly from other modules. At the moment shift right-clicking them clears any settings.

About the differences in dimlets. That's caused by your configs not being in sync with the server. The best way to solve that is to copy the dimlets.cfg from the server to the clients. This is no longer needed in recent versions of RFTools but unfortunatelly the RFTools in RR3 is too old.

Well for the counter you can use the 'counter screen' module. I cannot easily read values from other redstone producers as it is actually the redstone transmitter that handles the communication to the redstone screen module.

Hi all. Today I realized that RFTools is becoming one of the bigger mods which is touching a rather big range of things in Minecraft. While I'm rather happy with my mod with regards to functionality, balance, and general concepts there are a few things that I'm not as good in as I'd like to be. The user interfaces of the blocks in my mod are not always very nice and usually look functional but rather bland. My english is sometimes a bit technical so the online manual is perhaps not the easiest to understand. I'm also not an artist so my textures are not always the best. So maybe it is time to try to get some more involvement from the community. Basically I'm feeling around to see if there are perhaps people who might be interested in helping me with RFTools. I want to keep a tight grip on development so I will not accept everything that people throw at me and to begin with I'm not going to give anyone write access to my git repository. You basically have to gain my thrust before I do that. But still I like to work in an open manner and in fact there have already been various contributions by different people and so far I have merged all of them
So basically I'm looking for people with the following skills:
Texture artists (and perhaps later also model artists when I will need those).
People who can help add some sound effects here and there.
Manual writers (both for the wiki as well as the in-game books).
People who can make nice user interfaces. That means people who know how to design a good UI and also know how to code it in Java.
Testers who can go deep in the murky depths of Minecraft to help find issues and make sure my mod works well in all situations.
And perhaps who knows, just general coders who can help me implement various systems in my mod.
So far I can still cope on my own but it would be nice to make RFTools a really nice and friendly mod with the help of a team.
So anyone interested?

Yes, I've been studying all of those wiki pages quite thoroughly! Some of my dimlet attempts work - ie, I throw a biome dimlet in there and the dimension usually has that specific biome. Some attemps do not - For instance I tried to make a dimension with simply molten gold lakes/oceans. I put a Molten Gold dimlet in the enscriber (1st topleft slot), then a Feature Lakes dimlet after it (2nd slot to the right of it). Didn't care about the other features, was just trying to get this one working first. That's it, pressed store. When I arrived at the dimension, no golden liquids What am I doing incorrectly? What dimlets do I have to put in, and in what order, to get that?
And am I correct in assuming that every time I want to change the Lakes, or ground block material, that I need to use a Feature dimlet each time? If so that seems difficult. I've collected a million Liquid type dimlets, but very few Feature dimlets
Just one quick question. Since I created many dimensions my dialer got stuffed with old addresses. Is there a way to remove them from the list?
The /rfttp cleanup command will remove all invalid/outdated locations.
If the locations are still valid but you simply don't use them anymore then for now you cannot do much except go to the dimensions and remove the receiver. But I have plans to make a 'favoriting' system in the dialer so that you can mark (and only show) your favorite locations.

Liquid and material modifiers have to go before either:
The terrain dimlet (normal, flat, ...). In this case this modifier will affect the terrain material and ocean liquid.
A feature dimlet (tendril, ...). In this case the modifier will affect the dimlet.
Additionally you have to make sure that the type of terrain you have actually supports lakes. You can't (for example) have lakes in a void age.
Unfortunatelly you cannot yet craft feature dimlets with the dimlet workbench. This is something that I plan to do.

Ive got an issue, chunk loaders arent keeping chunks in the dims alive. Running a FTB Infinity pack with the latest 1.50 of rftools, and only a player keeps chunks loaded. Tested with chicken chunks loader and railcraft both arent keeping an area loaded when I leave the area to a different part of the dim.
