I'm having trouble playing the songs from the songs that are pre-loaded in the etcher (I've tried half a dozen or so). I'm using version 1.1.2 on 1.7.10, Ubuntu 14.04, 130 mods in total. It says "Error: could not read file". The files are readable in .minecraft/betterrecords/cache, and I placed the libraries linked by Finalpk in my mods folder. I'm guessing it's a problem with Better Records's MP3 playback, since I can play the OGG file AdamBrony linked on page 6 just fine.
Also, has the ComputerCraft and/or OpenComputers wrapper for Better Records advanced at all? I'd be happy to implement it myself as an add-on.
MP3 playback is very buggy due to the nature of them.
The next version should be able to use opencomputers and computercraft.
When you go to that ogg file, it doesn't download it. When you press play, it's length is not correct, as, it loads when you play it. The site uses a stream, rather than an actual file. Sorry, due to the way that site handles music files, you cannot input that ogg file.
Well i have tested severals sites and their download links are fully working, as soon as i click ''Download'' i get that little window on my computer saying something like ''Downloading file'' and then i have it. but when i test it in-game. It dosent want to work.....but is it possible for you to make youtube stream audio throught minecraft? youtube-to-mp3 site didint work for me to put it ingame, but if you could somehow manage to code which makes it possible to download music in-game from Youtube-to-mp3 site at the same moment as you downloaded the file from youtube, this method would give so much advantage (I tried to go to history and clicked on the previous downloaded file from youtube-to-mp3, it gave me an error) Mabey an plugin?
You have no idea how difficult to program and CPU intensive it is to convert a video into audio format. I'm sorry, this just isn't feasible at the moment.
Is there a way to set only OPs to create discs? I'd rather not see people deciding to troll by adding R-rated songs to my server... (or maybe even a cauldron hook where you can create a "Trusted group" that can create records?)

Do OPs on your server have /give permission? If so, you could use MineTweaker to remove the recipe for blank records, thus preventing them from being freely crafted. If OPs on your server cannot use /give, then I am out of ideas.

Hmmm, you could disallow the disk itself for people without a certain permission? It should be possible without me changing anything.

Distributing records is not a problem. I have CustomNPCs installed and already made a Record Store

That's the kinda thing I was thinking around if there wasn't an easy config option or such. except I was thinking more of disallowing the creation of the etching block, that way players could easily make any disk into a "blank" and sell it back to the record store if they didnt want it.

I can't really help if you don't supply a url to the song.

Here is one of the songs HERE I got off youtube , but be warned all i listen to is rap , and it might be considered quite dirty to you , and others . I even converted it to .ogg with a program I have and uploaded it to my dedicated server with direct download links with the same issue . Tried 20 plus songs from youtube with same issue .

Hmm, when I go to that link, it sends me to a page with the download link. It probably resets the link every few minutes to prevent distributing the download link and applying load to their server. No idea. But, if you can go to the directly linked ogg in your browser it should work. The charsetutf-8 error indicates that it is recieving a plain text page, rather than an ogg.

Is there a way of me just manually placing music in a folder without downloading it ?
Since people seem to be having issues a bit ago I setup a quick upload thing to upload music, Practically all you do is select a .ogg file below 10mb, it uploads it to the site and gives you a link you copy paste into the etcher. You should have no issues as I just tested this on latest available version.
The freaking speaker wires. Won't connect, just flash red and black in a weird wireframe setup and disappears. So my disc player has the same old 40 block range, even though I have speakers nearby to connect them up to.

Hmmmm... I'm about done with the next version. It doesn't appear to have that problem. (Though, the current version doesn't have that bug for me ._.)
Can you make record players easier to open? Like, you should be able to right click on a music player, even with a disc is in it, and even if you are holding something. For some reason, when I put a disc in it, it doesn't register me even trying to open it. And if it hasn't been done already, you should allow your music discs to work in vanilla jukeboxes.

Hmmm, I'll think about a different way of doing it.
Impossible. Well, in a sense. I would have to override vanilla jukeboxes to use a custom one, you could only use ogg, and you would have to restart minecraft to use them.

There is, currently if you use a file:/// url, but I'm going to make it easier later on.

I have no idea how long I'll be keeping this up. Just a warning your music file might not be here forever.
Edit: Seems to be good, I see a few ogg files. I did a few small changes I hope it doesn't break anything.
