Same here, but I don't really want to ask such a thing of thehippomaster21. I know how difficult it can be to port a mod between 1.6.4 and 1.7, and with all of the work he's done with his various mods it seems like he has enough on his plate as-is.
I made a spotlight just like the other 30 people that posted there's. To try to give this thread some content beyond those others I'll expand on my post a little. I truly think my favorite part of this mod is the sea serpents. I would love to see more creatures in that scary fashion, that you amy find upon your journey along the ocean blue. I'd love to see mermaids and even marauders riding seahorses attempting to kill me. I don't entirely know your direction for the mod, but occasionally finding sea villages could be cool, having some with mer-people and other, hostile ones with said marauders. They could serve to create a cool little dungeon-esque location to attempt to invade. Above all a way to live in the water would be interesting. Maybe a glass dome or air system could be created to begin your own civilization among the fishies. All-in-all it is an awesome mod thus far and I am pretty interested to see where it goes from here (hopefulyl more than just adding a few new mobs/items, like every other mod these days does.)
Hmm I understand your concern. It's an odd thing to do, but I'll see.
This was in reference to a config option to have the water hostiles not attacking players unless a player attacked them. Thank you for considering it. I do not wish to pressure you to put it in. Im just happy you will consider it for later. I do still want the option for safe swimming. It has been nice in minecraft to be able to dive into the water to escape monsters. To me it feels peaceful under the water. Just my personal feeling about it.
On another note: It might be interesting to have a rare group of bottom dwelling creatures here and there such as maybe 5 star fish, or 5 to 7 clams, or a non-mobile patch of sea-anemone or other slow or non moving intersting things too see. perhaps catfish in the low parts of rivers. I would hope they would be pretty rareso its fun to find them. perhaps patches of different colored or shades of color seaweed. maybe they could be crafted into the corrosponding dye colors. Most seem to go from shades of green to a little purple or orange. just some fun ideas. do what you want. oh maybe a few rare things in rivers too. Its a fun mod you are making. Thanks again.
This mod has so much potential for bringing fun to the waters of Minecraft and making underwater living viable, kudos to you.
A few things I think might suit the mod (assuming they're not already planned):
Mobs:
Shark (hostile, fast and moderate damage)
Jellyfish (hostile, causes poison but deals low damage on its own)
Mermaid (passive unless attacked)
Crab (hostile, low damage)
Kraken (hostile boss, high damage, large size)
Whale (passive unless attacked)
Items:
Trident, acts as a moderately high damage weapon with long reach {four part crafting; trident tine recipe (m is material e is empty, top middle and bottom section from left to right in that order represent crafting grid pattern) [e, m, e], e, m, e], [e, m, e]; trident head (m is material, t is tine, e is empty) [e, t, e], [t, m, t], [m, e, m]; trident shaft ([e, e, m], [e, m, e], [m, e, e]; trident recipe (h is head, s is shaft, e is empty) [e, h, e], [e, s, e], [e, s, e]}
Net, can be used to trap mobs in place or used to fish {three part crafting; silk thread (c is cobweb, e is empty [e, c, e], [e, c, e], [e, c, e]; netting (s is silk thread, e is empty) [s, e, s], [e, s, e], [s, e, s]; net (n is netting, iron is i, e is empty [i, e, i], [e, n, e], [i, e, i]
I love your profile pic and name!

I think that this mod has great potential. I would like to make some suggestions if that's ok.
Mobs:
Leviathan- I noticed a few people request this, but I really thing their description of the Leviathan was..well...puny. Even having something like a Leviathan as a boss is not enough. If you look into the lore behind the Leviathan, he is no mere monster. As I quote from the Tanakh,
"His snorting throws out flashes of light; his eyes are like the rays of dawn. Firebrands stream from his mouth; sparks of fire shoot out. Smoke pours from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds. His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth....When he rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before his thrashing. The sword that reaches him has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.Iron he treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood.Arrows do not make him flee, sling stones are like chaff to him.A club seems to him but a piece of straw, he laughs at the rattling of the lance.Behind him he leaves a glistening wake; one would think the deep had white hair. Nothing on earth is his equal—a creature without fear.He looks down on all that are haughty; he is king over all that are proud." (Quoted from Wikipedia actually, since I didn't have a copy on me.)
I hope this clears up a few things, the Leviathan is not to be trifled with. If someone must do good in it's name, then it must be the true king of the seas that the lore refers to, not some mere "boss" that can be killed by using the ICBM mod or something to destroy it from afar.
World Generation:
Trenches- Deep, long ravines that lead down into the depths. Can spawn things such as angler fish, giant angler fish, other deep sea creatures, another variant of a sea serpent (angler serpent?), and on rare occasions, a Kraken.
Coral Reefs- Giant reefs full of beautiful coral structures and predators.
Underwater Cities- Giant, long lost structures of civilizations of the old days. May spawn mermen/mermaids. Can have some good loot, and maybe even a special dungeon.
Wow Hippomaster, once again you make an awesome mod with awesome mobs! Awesome job, you should totally be paid for this stuff! Im really hoping for more awesome sea monsters to come! A suggestion i may have is some structure generation in the deepest parts of the oceans. That would give players some incentive to go and explore (and fight some mobs). Perhaps it could be some rare ore, or a building.

those are awsome ideas! except could the cites be abandoned? and could there be no mermaids or merman? they are not exactly scary, but thinking of giant angler fish i cant wait! also if you make cities and make them abandoned could you make there a room that has a mutant or alien squid or eel or angler fish living in it that is a boss! it would be awsome and they squid could call babies to help it or if eel it could light up and shock you or if angler it could hypnotize fish to guard it! (mutent or alien above) these might be dumb ideas but its early in the morning so im being an idiot! so i recommend not doing these! but please do his!
Aw comeon i can't believe you cant downdate this to 1.6 oh we'll at least I can play a bit of oceoncraft L: but still this is a very cool mod indeed I wonder what it's like with this mod and oceoncraft oh and BOP combined awesome oceoncraft exploring mod pack with the new 1.8 water dungeons!
Amazing. The mod isn't even a month old, and already almost all of the posts here are requests for every feature under the sun. I suppose that's the mark of a world-renowned modmaker, but it still seems wrong that you people are on here making so many requests and demands (some just outright ridiculous). Let the Prof to his work, and enjoy what he gives you. That's the reason most modmakers do what they do: so that the players of Minecraft can enjoy their work as they do.
Had a bit more time on my hand, so just released a new update with swordfish Also added some other random fish like fairy and black cap basslets, plus added rocks into world generation. Check out the changelist for more info, and tell me how it goes Gonna work on updating animated players now
