Some people play on older versions of minecraft alpha and noticed that there is no sound. They are looking for a solution on the internet and found out that it is necessary before each run of the game to turn off the internet.
This modification will allow you to play with the sounds without turning off the Internet.

can i have all versions that you have in the video please i want to start a nostalgia series
Watch out next time you post to a thread as this one is almost a year old, and bumping ooold threads (over half a year) is kinda frowned upon (there's exceptions). You should've sent a PM or posted in the video.
Other than that, I think this'll interest the indev community.
4 years ago, I started played MCPE/Minecraft in general. Now, I have MCPC, and I'm still not bored of the blocky sandbox indie. Cuz awesomeness! Got a problem with that?
Nothing works. No matter what I do, the game reverts the version jar to how it's supposed to be, even if I delete the entire META-INF folder like most mods that don't use forge need you to do. When I made the jar read-only, the game just didn't start.

The installation instructions are outdated; in order to manually install mods you have to first make a copy of the folder for the version you are modding and rename it and the files inside to something that doesn't exist on Mojang's servers (FWIW, this has had to be done ever since the launcher for 1.6 came out 6 years ago, which changed the .minecraft directory structure, including removing the "bin" folder - I'm not even sure why a thread posted in 2014 mentions that unless they assume you are using the pre-1.6 launcher, which probably doesn't even work anymore, nor can you download it).
Then you have to open the json file and search for "client.jar" and delete the entire "downloads" section that includes it, then you edit the following line, which is in the form of "id": "version", where "version" is changed to match the name you gave to the folder/files (in all the json files that I've seen they have all had the "downloads" section and "id" next to each other, making them easy to find; I presume that this is true for all versions).
Here is an example, using my own modded 1.6.4 version:
Before (note that this is all on one line without line breaks, which I added for readability):
Here is what should happen when you launch a modded version; the launcher complains that it can't find the jar and/or its hash but it will accept it (this is true of all modded versions, they usually use an installer so you don't have to mess around with the files):
Also, mods that must be manually installed should distribute a pre-modified json file so the user only has to replace the default file, as I've found that people often edit it incorrectly, and because of this I've been including them with my own mods (an installer like what Optifine, Forge, or other modloaders use would be better but I don't know how to make one and I haven't come across a generic" installer that you can use to distribute your own mods; given that nearly all mods depend on a modloader of some sort I doubt there is one).

if the folder with your version does not exist in the archive, then give me your minecraft.jar and I'll give you a corrected version
Even if you are using the new launcher to play these versions?

Let this tell you that I'm not a noob.
And I'm not a 6-year-old whinger either.
Cool!
Is there one for infdev 2010-06-18? Because that's the only one in the launcher by default.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
