Man...If (or when) this mod gets made...I can see it. A Temporal server war. Each faction trying to change different parts of history to make the other's base be damaged or destroyed...or to gain resources quicker. It would be chaos. One minute you have diamond everything and a super epic base, next, you have nothing and you are sitting on a lonely hill.
I'm hoping to get the time travel worked out in the next few days.... at least the engine.
And here was me thinking this was going to take a month or two. Btw, I am advertising the mod in my siggy. "I reject to your reality and substitute my own." is my catch-phrase, and I decided to advertise the mod with it
It simulates block decay. So cobble would turn to gravel to sand to nothin. Stuff like that. Maybe create a method to make caves expand and stalactites to grow.
so its esentially just simulating erosion and if thats the case will rocks near water erode more and will wind affect mountains and hills in the same way as in real life?
What you want to help with: I can do some simple java coding and I am good at graphics design. I am also a good creative thinker/Idea man Previous experiences: I have made some mods that add blocks, items, and entities into the game, but none have been made public. What sets you apart from other modders: I am one of the youngest aspiring programmers that I know (14) and I feel as if I know several methods that could be used for the past-self pathfinding. Examples of work: I have a few simple mods saved for 1.2.4. I could send them to you. The good ones are in 1.7 and I deleted them long ago Do you have a github: yes (same username) Can you debug:yes
P.S. - You should add a car/vehicle that can be altered for time travel. Once it reaches a certain speed (88mph?) it would travel to the chosen time period. It could use a flux capacitor which runs off of plutonium or lightning, and obviously those would be rare materials. (time travel can't be easy, am I right?)

Previous experiences: Making my mod...
What sets you apart from other modders: I know generally how we could do this and, I've been thinking about it for awhile (Not much really except for my extreme determination!)
Examples of work: I'll get back to you on that
Do you have a github: Yes
Can you debug: Definitely
You'd need a good comp for this as it would have to save every action a player does...
servers will need to be huge too

Why not name the mod "Back to the Future" too? lol
Though, the idea of a car isn't that inviting. I like the idea of going inside a capsule or using a portal.

Hm... When you say debug, do you mean that you can debug bugs (lol) or can you fix crashes and stuff? And yea, It would help if you sent me at least some screenshots of your mod or even a dl. Also, what were some of your 1.7 mods?

You actually would not need a very high-end computer. The mod will take snapshots of your location (every 10 secondsish) and saves those to a file. Servers would probably be much, MUCH more complicated though. As for your app, I NEED to see some previous experience for a few reasons: 1. I need to know of you are a troll and 2. I need to know your experience level so I know what I could give you. So, just get back to me with some examples of your work.
as I said I'm working on finishing my mod before I give you the example, because of the fact that it's one simple error that just won't do what I'm telling it too (Well it really does) It won't call the setFire method when all the conditions are right
and It will have to save more than the players location and you wouldn't need a high end comp because minecraft saves every change every tick already... you'd just have to create another save file every 10 seconds with every aspect of the world ... where your player is whats in the chests ETC...

Yea, I know... I have not gotten to that part of the mod yet. I am still just working on the engine itself.
I was thinking of setting specific points that save, such as the player opening a chest or something like that.
Well thought out mod. You might need to find the best 'memory conserving' method, though, if that makes sense. If you log everything that the player does, like was in one of the ideas, then that is going to take a ton of memory, thus creating immense lag. I wish I could help, but I'm busy coding my own mod. Good luck.

What you want to help with: Code Previous experiences: 7 different known programming languages. What sets you apart from other modders: I am 12. And I know NO OTHER 12 year old that has master programming languages, also, I am intuitive, smart, and bilingual. In 3rd grade, my IQ was 132. I also strive for efficiency in my work, when I see people that do so much useless variables and stuff, I shiver. Too much memory wasted, I do as much efficiency as I can. Examples of work: Pre-Alpha More More More! Over 200 unique items. Do you have a github: ??? Can you debug: Yes.
Also, if you want a Swedish version, I can translate for you with a little help from my Swedish friend.
And, my ideas are absolutely insane, if you were to look into my mind of idea-making, it is so outrageous that you need to nuke it in order to take it down a millionth of a notch.

DXPower, I find it really hard to believe that a 12 year old has mastered 7 different languages. It'll take years to master just one language, genius or not.
Reading a thread of yours, you asked for help finding an Item. Namely the item dropped by Lapis-Lazuli, if you had actually mastered 7 different languages, Java included, I'm fairly sure you'd have enough knowledge to look in the Item class file to find it.
Also, if you actually had an IQ of ~132, you'd know that the Lapis-Lazuli ore drops blue dye. And from there know how to find it in the Item class.
Just sayin'.
Edit:
You've double-posted several times in this Thread, double-posted in that you've posted twice, not necessarily posted the exact same thing twice. Nonetheless, it's against the Forum Rules
Ah, thats what you meant! I thought you meant posting the topic twice. Therefore, I dont think its breaking any rules...

every minute the mod would save a copy of the world to it's directory In order to be able to create an instance of the world as it was. Though this will take up a lot of memory It will be the only way to ensure an exact world copy as it was. If you can figure out another idea though , we would appreciate knowing
As a somewhat lag-saver, the mod could only save when the player stops, then make the "clone" use a pathfinding AI to get to the next save area. So, basically, you have two options...
1. Some lag and a perfect past.
2. Less lag, but the past won't be 100% accurate.
I think we should find a way to fix the lag, as a 100% accurate past is a very awesome idea.
Lol, that would be epic!
