Hello everyone! Tell that for an error!? How to fix it?
rv1.stable build 1
Your running a newer version of Forge with an old version of Applied Energistics. Try moving to this version appliedenergistics2-rv2-alpha-12 or higher.
I am running 1.7.10 and it works for me. Also be sure to update Biomes-O-Plenty to the latest too, if your running that one. For some reason, those two mods fight together if you don't have both the latest.
Hey everyone, Im not sure if this had been asked, and I apologize if it has. Ive been experiencing some intermiten "hang" issues with AE2. Its usually in my automation. Eaxmple setup is a Mekanism crusher with an import and export bus and an emitter to switch on/off the machine, with a storage monitor to display inventory count of processed material. The problem is it doesn't seem to be removing the processed material or give the machine the raw material. As you can see in the pic there is 148 crashed certus quartz. The setup was running fine, and made 120 certus dust, and just stopped feeding and removing. My inscriber is currently stop at 71% as well. This has happened as few times in the past, there are no errors in the console, and I can take items in and out of the ae system from the terminal. Any Ideas? We are running the hermitcraft modsauce pack 1.0.0.5 (it did it on 1.0.0.4 as well)
When I was installing up rv2.alpha build 14 have another problem! If I want to get something out of the terminal, I was disconnected from the server at once!
I've been using the ME storage for a while (to the point that if I start a new game, I have a little trouble keeping things organized with regular chests until I'm able to craft the ME storage), and have recently started using the crafting CPU, but I'm still confused by the "ME Storage Math" on the wiki. Does the "Stacks of items With 63 Items in Cell" column mean it stores that many stacks of each item, or just that many stacks total? (I'm guessing the latter, but it would be better to make that explicit on the wiki page) Also, what if I have a number of item types that's somewhere in-between? The table is called "Storage Capacity with Varying Type Count", but it's not all that helpful if it only covers the extremes.
Also, is there a way to rearrange which items are in which cells? The wiki page for the cell workbench is a little confusing, but I think I figured it out just now, so I don't need to ask about configuring super-common items like cobblestone and dirt to go into larger cells. However, I'm not sure how I'd transfer the contents to other cells if I wanted to extract the storage component to use toward crafting the next tier of storage.
I'm not clear on exactly what you're looking for with the item/stack storage question, but having one each of two items takes up more space on the storage cell than having two of the same item, if that helps.
As for moving stuff off a cell, that's what the IO Port is for.
You need to direct the parts to the correct sides, the simplest approach is to make a small network with 3 storage bus, 1 interface. storage bus goes on the top / back / bottom of the inscriber, interface can be anywhere.
You then put an interface on the main network, that points at the interface on the small network, put your pattern in there.
Then put the correct white list onto the storage buses to direct the items where you want to go, make sure you power it with some quartz fiber, then try crafting, it should put the outputs into the small network via the interface, which should store them in the inscriber.
Only thing missing is the retrieval of the final product, you can use an import bus or hopper or something to do that.
I almost had this working in my game, but then I realized I missed the part about it being a small separate network with an interface on the main network pointing at the interface on the small network. How do I actually set that up?
See my posts about the Mekanism Infuser subnetwork last page. Set up the Inscriber in a similar way.
I tried putting the interfaces face-to-face like in your picture, but that didn't work too well for me. Also, import/export buses don't seem to be able to interact with inscribers. However, I've gotten three inscribers working using one storage bus for each in insert only mode, filtered to the correct material for the press, one storage bus for each in extract only mode, and two chests to handle the input and output. I think I'll want a controller block for this subnetwork so that I can have 4 inscribers in it (one for each press) and a separate subnetwork for combining the inscribed items into processors.
For some reason, when I type "o" in the search box within the item terminals, my game will crash. Anything else is fine, but as soon as an "o" is used, the entire game shuts down. Any clue why this would happen?
EDIT: "i" also crashes it. a doesnt, so it's not vowels.

My guess is there's an item (presumably represented by the class mariculture.fishery.items.ItemVanillaFish, as listed in your stack trace) that it's trying to bring into the viewable area that's triggering the crash. You might check if you're able to scroll through all your stored items (not using the search) without crashing.

As for moving stuff off a cell, that's what the IO Port is for.
I experimented a bit in creative mode, and determined the following:
1. each type uses 8 bytes, across all tiers of storage cells (a single cobblestone took the same number of bytes in a 64k cell as in a 1k cell, which conflicts with the wiki page that says higher tiers use more bytes per type), with a limit of 63 types per storage cell.
2. each item uses 1 bit (though the interface only shows usage rounded up to the byte), so I'm not limited to stopping at discrete stacks of 64; in a 1k storage cell, I can have 4098 items of one type and 1 each of 62 other types.
Thanks for telling me about the IO Port, though, I hadn't noticed it existed.

I can scroll through, yea. Its most letters that do it now, still not sure why.

There are a couple of things I've been wanting to do in AE2, but haven't figured out how:
1. Set a maximum number of items of each type to keep in the storage (e.g. 5000), and when any item type goes over that count, automatically send the extra items to a target inventory. (e.g. an IC2 recycler, a chest with a BC wooden pipe and void pipe attached, or a formation plane above a cactus)
2. When a crafting/processing recipe can use more than one item to get the same output (e.g. making quartz glass from certus quartz vs. nether quartz, or using different types of wood planks), make the crafting cpu start with whichever one I have most of in storage.
Can either of these be done currently (with help from other mods if necessary)?
1) The only way I can think of to do this would be to have a level emitter and export bus set up for each item you wanted to limit. (alternatively, if you have MFR or another mod that offers a similar block, you could use a storage bus on a DSU for mass storage.)
2) I know in AE1 you could set recipe priority by controlling the order they were in the crafting computer, but that only allowed you to have a backup if you completely ran out of your primary materials. You can probably still do it, if you check the crafting monitor to see what order stuff is in in the system. Other than that, the best I can figure would be to set up two interfaces with toggle buses (one inverted) and a level emitter between them, so you can force the system to change recipes at a threshold. Can't think of any way to count and compare items like what you're looking for, though, though admittedly I'm not the best with vanilla redstone logic, so there might be something that can be set up with that.
I have a big issue with formation plane but it might be me not using it the best way... I have a quarry with silktouch so anything gets harvested in ore form because I can have better output like that but some of the stuff (like TC4 infused stone for example) can't be processed with machines so i set a formation plane to place them in front a block breaker of sort... but the plane takes a butt-load of time to place the blocks so I skipped to expot bus on block placer but I need 2 to white-list all the blocks... long story short I run out of channels on the line and got back to the formation plane... also gave it the highest priority in the network... do I need to build a sub-network to make it work at decent speed (since it doesn't accept speed upgrades)? or it's meant to be that slow?
I'm not all that familiar with the formation plane, but it seems to me if the export + block placer works better, but just uses too many channels, the best solution is to just run another cable of a different color or replace with a dense cable to get the channels you need.

the problem is that would make 33 channels so I'll have to run another dense cable from the controller for just one channel... not to mention the partial/total breaking and replacing of half of my network to do so... I might have been a little too compact when first making it

So use a P2P tunnel and use a channel on the existing dense line for the two new channels you need.

As for moving stuff off a cell, that's what the IO Port is for.
I almost had this working in my game, but then I realized I missed the part about it being a small separate network with an interface on the main network pointing at the interface on the small network. How do I actually set that up?
I tried putting the interfaces face-to-face like in your picture, but that didn't work too well for me. Also, import/export buses don't seem to be able to interact with inscribers. However, I've gotten three inscribers working using one storage bus for each in insert only mode, filtered to the correct material for the press, one storage bus for each in extract only mode, and two chests to handle the input and output. I think I'll want a controller block for this subnetwork so that I can have 4 inscribers in it (one for each press) and a separate subnetwork for combining the inscribed items into processors.
EDIT: "i" also crashes it. a doesnt, so it's not vowels.

There is a link to the crashlog.

My guess is there's an item (presumably represented by the class mariculture.fishery.items.ItemVanillaFish, as listed in your stack trace) that it's trying to bring into the viewable area that's triggering the crash. You might check if you're able to scroll through all your stored items (not using the search) without crashing.
This only happened after I restarted the game recently. It was working right before that, and just broke after I booted it back up.
I can scroll through, yea. Its most letters that do it now, still not sure why.

2) I know in AE1 you could set recipe priority by controlling the order they were in the crafting computer, but that only allowed you to have a backup if you completely ran out of your primary materials. You can probably still do it, if you check the crafting monitor to see what order stuff is in in the system. Other than that, the best I can figure would be to set up two interfaces with toggle buses (one inverted) and a level emitter between them, so you can force the system to change recipes at a threshold. Can't think of any way to count and compare items like what you're looking for, though, though admittedly I'm not the best with vanilla redstone logic, so there might be something that can be set up with that.
the problem is that would make 33 channels so I'll have to run another dense cable from the controller for just one channel... not to mention the partial/total breaking and replacing of half of my network to do so... I might have been a little too compact when first making it
So use a P2P tunnel and use a channel on the existing dense line for the two new channels you need.
