Sorry, I didn't see your reply until now. The values are taken from my AncientWarfare2 config. It's basically a list of what the NPCs will recognise as "food". Currently I can only feed them vanilla food and I've been keeping them on a diet of baked potatoes. I'd really like to be able to feed them HarvestCraft foods. I managed to get the list of foods but I have no food values for them yet.
I'm using Harvestcraft 1.7.10c with many other mods, and when I punch a wild plant, random vegetables pop up. For example, I punched a cantaloup plant I've found and 2 pumpkins came from it. And the berry bushes drop random berries...
Could be a conflict with another mod?
EDIT: No... it does the same even if I only have Harvestcraft installed...
Is it intended? Is it a config thing??
FINAL EDIT: Sorry... I've just watched Pam's tutorial... I didn't know that now that's the way you find the vegetables. I'm used to the 1.6.4 version where every vegetable has its own wild plant.
Dose anyone have any good sugestions for making an orchard? Im gathering up nearly all the saplings to make a nice big field of fruit trees but would like some ideas on a good layout.
So far all I can say for sure is that I will have the "nut" trees seperated from the fruits trees, but thats all I can come up with right now.

Here's a few of the regular things I do for orchards:
1 place a dirt block on the corners of village gardens and plant a tree. Food and shade.
2 place dirt blocks five spaces apart with a torch or glow stone between them. Having the trees raised gives you room to harvest short sprouting trees. This also works for harvesting wood. Keeping raised blocks makes for faster replanting and allows room for flowers or crops.
3 I'm a big fan of rooftop gardens in my villages. Again, I place trees on the corners larger buildings, or as a centerpiece of smaller ones.
As for layout, what ever seems logical or looks beautiful. Personally I like mixing colors. You could also set up by color or sapling type. Another really pretty arrangement is to plant dirt blocks in a water garden with glow stone beneath the water.
Hope some of these gave you some ideas for your own orchards.
How do you get your hands on stuff like banana saplings etc? Ive been using bonemeal on grass like crazy, but the only thing I get is a few common stuff like sweet potato and rice. I dont get any saplings what so ever?
I also went on a 5000 block long trip, hoping to find naturally spawned trees. I found a ton of trees like chestnut, plum and pear. But nothing else? I never had this problem in 1.6.4.
You get fruit tree saplings by crating an oak sapling with a banana (for example). You get your bananas off a fruit tree that generates in the wild. Certain fruit trees spawn in certain biomes.
As I said, I traveled 5000 blocks and I didnt find a daim. Biomes o plenty doesnt work on the server, but that cant be a dependency for Pams Harvestcraft?
If I get $75 for my donation drive, I'll be adding a Market block that eases this issue with not being able to find gardens/trees. You'll be able to buy seeds and saplings from it.
what fossil lol i think i miss that one i aint saw fossils, even on your creative menu Pam, where are they lol? or you guys are talking about other mod than harvestcraft?
also Pam i think your mod is the best food mod by far, hows that for a compliment?
also be careful with greg from gregtech, his trying to mess around with food mods now, making them hard to make, all the bread now need to make his own knife and stuff like that... i personally dont like that cause i think your system is by far more fun than his system, he should keep his nose on tech, where hes good at
lol yeah i use to use the old pam harvestcraft too, and it was different first i tought it was a bug but i think this new system is better, less realist but much more fun and balanced and more elegant too

Hows that going? I could make a small donation. I'm unemployed so I dont taking any daily baths in money.
I'll just leave this here.. Also, as a matter of interest, Mekanimsm has salt as well (NaCl, found in oceans and sometimes rivers. It's ore dict. compatible with Pam's salt.) If Pam broke that compatibility, I'd have to get her rock salt to generate again or drastically up the amount of saltpetre generating in my world. The problem I've found is that some mods make way too much saltpetre. Pam has a salt rarity setting in her configs already. That's great. I really wish every mod that added saltpetre would add that same setting so I didn't have to use another mod to keep it's generation in check.
i gotta say i love ur harvest craft mod its by far my favorite mod for minecraft. i have to say ever since i updated to 1.7.10 i have become mildly frustrated by the fact that when i use bonemeal on the ground it no longer produces the tree saplings or plants. love the bushes update, the fact that we can get all those plants in a single bush makes finding them much easier. i do miss saplings being created by bonemeal though made getting the saplings much easier. for instance finding olive, cinnamon, and maple are the hardest to find. btw i thought it would be super cool if when u cut down a fruit/item tree that instead of dropping regular saplings it would drop the sapling of the tree it was when u cut it down.
lots of props. keep up the great work. i look forward to ur future updates.
No sure if anyone will see this. Back in the day this was my favorite mod! I created a pdf book for this mod before there was hardly any information on how to make half the stuff in it. So I hope its ok that provided a link to this book on pam's mod from back in 2012
books.google.com/books?id=KwDTAgAAQBAJ
if you do download the pdf give some feedback. oh and its free even though I put a ton of time into it. I know its old and may not be up to date to the newest version but maybe it will help.
Ok. If I put this aside. Still the problem with Salt "dust" being registered as oreSalt (the Salt block) i can get infinite materials that are only obtainable by processing the ore. And also... Salt dust should never be registered as Ore block... thats not what you should do.
The ore block should be the ore block, the dust should be dust
What etactly means that...? Items accessible to only "Donators"?
And frankly, what you're doing here is more selling features, rather than asking for donations...
"Donation items" are available to everyone. It's just a donator had an idea for a block they wanted to see in the mod. Pam took time out from her part time job to make sure it made it in to the mod for everyone to use. I donated too (asking for a recipe for vegemite on toast ). I won't be the only one who gets to use it though. It's in the mod for everyone. Lots of suggestions have been implemented without donations (gardens being shearable, bonemealing grass to get saplings, etc) but again, everyone gets to use the features. Donators don't get special features just for them. That would be wrong

In other words salt and saltpeter could share an oredict slot and have minimal realism issues while also limiting ore generation of similar materials?

What's your favorite mod besides one of yours, I'm curious
P.S. HarvestCraft is the best mod in my opinion

Market Block (buy saplings, seeds, farm animal spawn eggs, and bonemeal; change costs and turn buying types on or off)
Donation items (including a faster cooking furnace block for food)
Bonemealing grass to get gardens and saplings
Shearing gardens and moving them around
MOAR FISHING - Lots of fish stuff to catch with the vanilla fishing rod and in the Water Garden
