The Version Tracker support is slightly bugged. For me, it's reporting that the mod is out of date even though I have v1.8-2.0 installed (says that "v2.0" is out/newest), and redownloading it doesn't solve the warning.
This should fix that without you needing to redownload anything. Sorry about that :$
Thanks! I take it the standalone mod download's already fixed as well?
What do you mean by standalone mod download, and what about it was broken?
All I did is fix the version number in the online repository, so when VersionChecker compares that to the version everyone has already downloaded, the two match up. Nothing about the mod actually changed.
You know the red FINISH HIM!!! text that pops up when you've done a certain amount of damage to a mob? Can you add an option to disable that with the Combo HUD? I find the text rather unfitting in-game and it would be useful to be able to disable it. I'm using version 1.6.5 (Minecraft 1.7.10) and I don't think the other, later versions in 1.8 have the option.
It pops up when you've hit the same enemy 2+ times in a row within a certain amount of time without being hit yourself, which is letting you know that you can use the 'Ending Blow' skill at this time. Plus, Mortal Kombat!!!!!!!! Lol.
But yeah, I can see how some people might not like that - what would you suggest instead to let you know you have an opening, or would you prefer to have just nothing at all? Might make it more 'realistic', at least, in that you'd have to pay close attention in order to execute the Ending Blow.
Anyway, this will give me a good excuse to release a new version so that the 1.8 one is downloaded by default on Curse - right now I think it's 1.6.4 since that is the last file I uploaded >.<
Oh, so that's what the "finsh him" text was for. I had no idea what it was for up until now. Hmm... Perhaps some sort of exclamation mark could pop up in the corner of your screen (say, top right) with the words "Ending Blow" next to it. Something less intrusive. Maybe you could add a config option to move the Ending Blow indicator to certain positions on the screen (i.e. corners, middle, top middle, bottom middle, right and left). Then you could add the option for it to even show up.
That could work - a (moderately) big exclamation mark at the top center of the screen wouldn't be bad at all. Configurable would be nice, but I don't have as much time to code as I used to, so I options may be limited.
I have a suggestion, what do you say that if you block an attack the second before it hits, you can follow up with an increased damage attack, and maybe make the enemies stagger?
Like a Riposte? Yeah, that would be neat, though I probably won't get to it until December or later - lots of real-life stuff to do these days :\
Is there anyway we can do this without having to lock on to a target? It's pretty cumbersome. Additionally it makes playing with a gamepad even harder, there just aren't enough key bindings even on the xbox controller for everything necessary.

Sorry, it was designed with Keyboard + Mouse in mind, much like Minecraft itself. I can't even imagine playing vanilla Minecraft with a gamepad, let alone with mods that require additional keybindings... same goes for pretty much any game not designed specifically for consoles - the Elder Scrolls comes to mind as a big one that really sucked to play with a gamepad.
Anyway, no, it would require rewriting a ton of code, and I have neither the time nor inclination to do such a thing. Sorry.
Could you add an config like, "Start with all skills=true"? Meaning that you don't have to start with a basic orb or anything, just starts your game with all skills unlocked at maximum level. Or maybe "Customize skills in-game=true", like on one of the options section, you can set each skill's levels, like the way you set the render distance etc. It would be a really useful feature in certain circumstances.
Not a bad idea, though it may be quite some time before I get to it.
In the meantime, you can use the /grantskill command to give yourself specific skills at specific levels, or all skills at max level.
I could do that, but for example if I am the administrator of a server, I might not want people to be able to do whatever they want with the commands for themselves, and I might not want to waste my time giving each player the skills, and I won't be on the server 24/7 to grant each player the skills, they might have to wait hours or days for me to give them the skills. In those circumstances, the configuration will be very useful.
I never said it wouldn't be useful - in fact, I said the opposite:
Not a bad idea, though it may be quite some time before I get to it.
BUT I don't currently have the TIME to add it, thus it will be a while before you can do so, and you'll just have to make do with the command until then. Make sense?
Whenever I try to open the skill book my game crashes instantly, any fixes?
Before you report a problem, read the mod requirements to make sure you are using a compatible version of Forge.
If that doesn't fix it and you would like to report a problem, ALWAYS include the version of the mod that you are using as well as the version of Forge that you are using, and if you have a crash log, include that.

Well dang - somehow my Dropbox links have generated more than 20Gb of downloads in a day, so my account was suspended temporarily...
I'll update the main thread here in a second, but if anyone needs to download it, you can do so from Curse:

the 1.9 combat update when it comes and forge too you will/may have to rewrite this
but the spin attack can have an easier keystroke when you do the sweep attack press ->
Frustrated with a mod and need help?, Then click here
sans avatar i get it before you just go out and yell undertale fanboy at me tell me 1 good reason why that's terrible
if it's too lighthearted the game gets more dark and serious in the later parts and genocide
Can you put a picture of fighting using the skills?
I doubt a picture would give you a useful sense of perspective... Why don't you watch the mod review instead - it's a video of the skills in action.

I have been looking for a mod like this for so long! This has just made my private pack hit 100 mods.

The use case was clear enough to me initially, so I misinterpreted your last comment. Yay for communicating by toneless text
