The assembler is a component, what you're trying to do is load a library called "assembler" and call a method on that.
What you want is to get the component library, then get the assembler component, and call the method on that:
require("component").assembler.start()
Do note that robots can't interact with external components, so you'll need to have a computer call that. You can have your robot communicate with a computer making that call using redstone signals or OC networking.
Dear Sangar, please tell me where I can see the description used in the fashion OpenComputers libraries and their methods? And linking them to the components.
Does BKAC means Behind a Keyboard, Ahead of a Computer?
You're talking about me? - I do not write the program for more than 10 years.
I bought the game for Minecraft nephew. After that, I became interested in the game itself.
I appreciate the humor and it's probably fun.
So do not be offended if I'll ask again "funny" questions.
Ah, I keep forgetting about looking into the Rotarycraft thing. Reika told me they are set to only be visible to neighbors, so it shouldn't lead to a component overflow that quickly? Will hopefully not forget and find the time to look into this soonish. After finishing the ingame manual stuff:
OpenComputers 1.5.7 is out now! Biggest addition this time is the ingame manual. That's right, OpenComputers officially joins the book club now. It's kind of wiki-ish-ly structured, and contains documentation about pretty much every item and block in the mod. Huge thanks to rashdanml and everyone else who helped fill out and polish the documentation.
As always, remember to make a backup of your world before updating.
No matter, whether this paramets exists or not, light strength is always 0. Then it can be increased using glowstone dust (but only 1 per craft, which is uncomfortable =).
Besides that, it would be nice to be able to turn on/off the light by right click. (It would be cool for creating various decorative lamps, or maybe buttons/switches with light indicators.)
P.S. OpenComputers-MC1.7.10-1.5.7.14-universal
UPD.: First trouble was caused by old print3d program. Fixed.
Yep, the old print3d program was written when there was no light emission, so it won't parse the new entry in the files.
In case anyone else has the same issue, run `oppm update print3d`.
The tedium of getting them to higher light-levels than a redstone torch is kinda hard to avoid while leaving the freedom to get any step of light level. I'll probably add a recipe print+glowstone block, though, to allow upping it faster, reducing the number of crafting steps involved when just wanting to max it out.
As for switching them on and off, "dynamic" light is something I'll look into at some point. I'll also look into making holograms (and screens, hopefully) emit light only while they're powered, then.
Hello everyone!,well,i have the opencomputers mod installed,to say the truth,i dont know how to program,so im learning, but i have a few ideas that can
be useful.
Redstone interface:is a small machine that on the top side has a small screen, when a Bundled cable is conected to the input side, the screen will light up to the corresponding wire/s with a Active redstone signal, also on the side it would have a small slot to put a special chip, that can be programmed to send messages, redstone signals etc to the output side of the redstone interface.on the output side should be a switch to toggle the output.if a program
sends a redstone signal if it receives a certain input color,it would send it,but if the output is disabled it wont send anything unless enabled.
Mainframe computer:is a one piece machine, like the one used in the image of the mod.it has a built in floppy disk slot.keyboard and screen(obviusly)
this machine is a tier 3 computer.it also has a 3 buttons on the side.if someone uses them,a build in program executes,it can be modified.

Can I suggest changing the Drone Case default recipe to use feathers and moving the end-stone (that requires about 20 ender pearls) into the "hard mode" config. This is what I've done, to finally look at finding an in-game purpose for drones (I hate creative mode, touching it ruins the game for me).
At the very least, don't say "robots, but a little cheaper" in the documentation for them.
Also, I had a brief session using OpenComputers with MC1.8 - it's now the most advanced tech mod available for 1.8, with Progressive Automation (a tech mod that focuses on simplicity to the point of being boring) the only other one I found with a miner of any kind. So I'll suggest again that crippling the mining abilities robot is a bad default.
whingeMode=off
I still think this is the best mod ever made for Minecraft.
Hmmm, endstone is pretty much free, once you've been to the End. And don't even argue that you usually don't go there. If you don't, think of this as a good thing, now you have a reason to explore more of the content MC has to offer anyway!
So yeah, the endstone is there for gating, and because it makes sense. I may look into adjusting the rest of the recipe at some point, though. Feathers sound more like something for an easymode set (well, let's maybe not call it that... vanilla set might be better?)
As for the robots' movement adjustments, don't think of that as "crippling", but as taking off the training wheels. Or something. Reminds me to look into that flight height increase upgrade, though.
The problem in 1.8 is mostly that due to the lack of other mods the recipes are comparatively harder. They are mostly laid out with other mods being present in mind. Someone really should make a vanilla recipe set...
i was reading the method of wiping a dungeon floppy disk, and i got the following idea:
a machine that wipes especially floppy disks, its speed depends on the contents of the disk,it cant delete hard disks, unless some sort of adapter is crafted, then this adapter is crafted with the disk, and the resulting item,is put in the back of the machine,to disconnect the adapter, just put the disk in the crafting slot, and you get the adapter and disk separated.
there should exist a advanced version of this machine, that not only it can be comanded only from a machine,it has a built-in slot for hard disks, and a light above every slot,a red color means a the disk in the corresponding slot is being deleted.a yellow color means that a hdd is present in that slot, but no operation is being performed, and a green color means that the slot is empty.a blinking red means the operation has been paused.but a delete is in progress.this advanced machine, has a few commands:Start, pause,Stop, startfrom(starts the wipe from a certain place)and get slot(outputs different things depending on the slot selected and it's status).
these are all the things i imagined when i was reading about how to delete a dungeon floppy.

Yes, I went to The End. Once. Been there, done that. Great game it was too. But I start new worlds regularly - why go again? 'tis a silly place.
It's a matter of progression. A robot can be built with the Tier1 case that will (with you manually supplying pickaxes) go off and mine enough gold for you to build a Tier2 case robot, which will go off and mine (and make its own pickaces) and find enough diamonds for you to build a Tier3 case. Resources are then plentiful.
This progression doesn't exist for drones. One use for a drone would be to scout the world and find a stronghold, or even just some special biome (jungles for cocoa, for example, since you've already had to find deserts for circuit board cactus). But once you've been to the end, odds are you've already scouted enough of the world to not need a drone.
As for training wheels, I'd like to know if anyone has written a robot miner since that change.
This is not about my personal needs - I've just changed the excellent configs to my suit those - I'm more concerned that these two changes needlessly cut off functionality for most players; I'd love to hear a counter example of someone actually using drones and robot miners in a real survival game.
shark513: structure that rambling into a thought-through feature suggestion (and check if it's not already implemented / possible ;)) and we'll see. As it is, I don't really understand what you're saying.
WarwickAllison: I think that does boil down to personal preference, mostly. There is currently an issue open, regarding a peaceful mode recipe set, which would, from what I can tell, address most of the issue you take with the default recipes as well.
In light of that, I'd like to take the chance to get some general feedback on the recipes, if you have a moment. Keep in mind, that this is about the default recipe set, not the hardmode one (this is addressing anyone who only looked at the mod once, ages ago :P).
I installed the parts to build a robot for assembly in assembler.
How can automatically activate the button assembly robot?
This should make another robot or a computer with the program.
Tried such a program, but gives me an error.
local assembler = require("assembler")
assembler.start()
I've been using Google-translator
The assembler is a component, what you're trying to do is load a library called "assembler" and call a method on that.

Thank you, it works.

Have a look at the wiki. I also suggest reading some of the tutorials on the forums, they explain the difference and so on.

Close. It's from PEBKAC, which should be easier to google ;-)

There is a new problem. We have assembled a robot.
But how to activate it? How to make automatic pressing "Turn on"?
I've been using Google-translator
It's a component. I think the name is "assembler" and the method is "start()".

Download in first post or on Curse.
Oh, and if you have an addon for OpenComputers, there's a very easy to use API for the manual, so you can hook right into it.

3D prints light level seems to be ignored.
