I posted this selection of commonly FAQ's on Xray's Discord Help server (as a possible suggestion towards having a separate (read only) FAQ channel), & thought I'd include them here in case there's people who don't have Discord
=================================================================
Q: I downloaded the file but I end up with a '.ZIP' file
A: Some browsers tend to download jar files & add 'ZIP' to the end of the name e.g 'xray-66-1143.zip' or 'xray-66-1143.jar.zip'.
All you need to do is rename the file with 'jar' on the end - so 'xray-66-1143.zip' is renamed to 'xray-66-1143.jar'
Q: I've installed xray but pressing 'x' doesn't work, however pressing 'c' & 'j' does
A: Check your minecraft keyboard controls. It is probably a conflict between xray default keys that are conflicting with another section in controls. Scroll through to see if any keys are coloured red & change any conflicts to something else
Q: I've installed xray but certain blocks/no blocks show up when I open the GUI
A: Press 'x' to activate xray mode then open the gui sometimes cures the problem, otherwise close to game & restart it. Xray also only shows blocks that it has currently 'seen', so if a particular block is not on the list try crafting it or placing the block down so that xray can add it to the list
Q: Does xray work with Forge/Fabric/Rift/Optifine ??
A: Currently xray does NOT work with any type of other mod loader (Forge/Rift/Fabric) due to the way xray uses the default minecraft launcher code & mod loaders use their own custom launcher code.
The developer has mentioned he is looking into the possibility of a 'Fabric'version but there's been no indication on how long this could take
In the case of Optifine, it is possible to get both installed together but the method is dependant on the type of launcher you're using to start the game
Q: I installed xray but when i launch the game my mouse/keyboard will not respond
A: If you are using the standard MC launcher its been suggested to locate the XRay profile JSON file (e.g. %APPDATA%.minecraft\versions\1.14.3-XRay\1.14.3-XRay.json) and change "game": [ "--tweakClass", "net.minecraftxray.loader.XRayTweaker" ]
to "game": [ "--tweakClass", "net.minecraftxray.loader.XRayTweaker", "--noXrayGui" ]
There's no guarantee this will work but it's been suggested by the Developer as something to try to fix the problem
So this said to be a link to a preview or somethin similar for the 1.12 - 1.12.1 and yet I see nothing here
huh - what link to what preview ?
I assume you are trying to say you followed a link from some other site that claimed to link to a 1.12 or 1.12.1 version of the Xray mod & it led you here ??
If that is the case then searching this thread would've shown you that the current developer (Dromar) has set up a Mediafire folder that contains all the ones that he has developed - although there isn't a 1.12 or a 1.12.1 version there - there is a 1.12.2 version
Some people (Server moderator/Admins/Staff in particular) may think I'm doing the Devil's work when telling people how to get Xray working - lol
Some comments from players of the server I play on
@CannonFoddr YOU BECAME THE VERY THING YOU SWORE TO DESTROY!!!
@CannonFoddr I TRUSTED YOU
@CannonFoddr I'm telling wazzy
FYI - 'Wazzy' is the server admin
EDIT [11-Jul]: There's been some requests about if there's an Xray for 1.12.2 on Discord
FYI - The original developer [AmbientOcculsion] of Xray only did full release versions for 1.5.2 to 1.11(Links on first page) & the current Developer (Dromar) took over 'unofficial' versions from 1.13.1 to the current 1.14.3 (found at https://www.mediafire.com/folder/5v6x64zl4irqq/xray) meaning 1.12 to 1.12.2 were 'missed' offically.
There was an Beta version for 1.12 made by Ambient & unofficial versions by other people made for 1.12.1 & 1.12.2 however it seems the links in this thread are mostly broken.
There is some good news/bad news however if you want a 1.12.2 version
Good News: you can get one of the unoffical releases of Xray-58 from http://www.mediafire.com/file/6mjla957cp941da/XRay-58-vDLB.jar (FYI this is in fact Xray-57.jar [1.12.1] that was altered using Dromar's tip on how to add 1.12.2 support, so it MAY work on 1.12.1)
Bad news: It seem that with the latest Minecraft Launcher, the Xray installation code (by double clicking on it) doesn't seem to work correctly as it doesn't show any 1.12.2 profiles
There does seem to be a workaround
- IF you install Forge for 1.12.2 & then drop the Xray-58 into the /mod/ folder it seems to work
anyone know hot to change a json file i got no clue
I assume you're asking how to edit one (to add the '--NoGui' possible fix to it for example)
A JSON file is nothing more than a standard TXT file but with 'JSON' on the end instead of 'TXT'
You can usually use standard windows Notepad to open it although I usually use a program called 'Notepad++'.
You open it up in notepad (or whatever you prefer) & edit/alter it like any normal text document
- the only thing you need to worry about is that JSON file contents have a particular 'format' which requires text to be contained in opening/closing curly brackets '{' '}'.
This is one reason I use Notepad++ as it has the feature of highlighting pairs of curly brackets making it easy to see if you accidentally deleted one
Below is an example of a JSON file opened in notepad
One thing to note - Some JSON files don't show up as neatly as this.. for some reason they may have everything placed on one line & can be confusing to read
It's time for a Minecraft 1.14.3 version : 65-1143.
- Un-official, without permission of AO
- Only for version : 1.14.3
- Tested on vanilla
- Needs a JRE 8 (<9) for the installation
- Not compatible with Fabric (WIP)
- Not compatible with Forge (like OptiFine 1.14.2_HD_U_F1_pre15)
It's time for a new "last Optifine-compatible" version : 67-1144.
- Un-official, without permission of AO
- Only for version : 1.14.4
- Tested on vanilla
- Not compatible with Fabric (news are coming later)
- Not compatible with Forge (news are coming later)
I tried the 1.14.3 version on a Twitch app version of Minecraft but simply adding it to the Mods folder produces a message saying it's not a mod and will not load...

I don't know nothing about twitch app but the reason is because it's not a standard 'Drop-&-Play' mod like those used for Forge/Fabric/Rift mod loaders
If using the vanilla minecraft launcher you need to run the xray installer to create a special profile
To do this you just need to double-click the downloaded xray JAR file
click on the 'Install' option on the popup menu
Choose a name to call the new profile
Start up the vanilla launcher & in the dropdown box choose the Xray profile you decided to call it & then click the [play] button
I can only assume that the Twitch app will detect your installed minecraft game & there is/are options to tell Twitch which Minecraft profile you wish to use
Hello
I have a question
So I have Windows 10 Pro so I had some problems with MC and needed to change the path of it so for example I moved quite literally the whole game from %appdata% to C:/ProgramData.Minecraft but still have the %appdata% folder and the X-Ray keeps installing there and don't know how to make it install in the other folder.
Could I please get some help?

do i need to have forge 1.14.3 for it ? and do i need to put it in the mods folder or versions folder?
do i need to put this into the mods folder or versions, and do i need to have forge 1.14.3 downloaded?
Neither - as it says in the description
What you need to do is download it
Double click on the jar file
A pop-up window will show asking which 'profile' to use with Xray (in this case it'll be a vanilla 1.14.3 profile) - click the [Install] button
You will then be asked to name the new profile - Click on [OK]
You then start up the minecraft launcher & make sure the newly created profile is selected - click [Play]
& if everything went OK - the game will start up & if you look in your controls you should see a section called 'xray'
Keys are by default 'x' for xray, 'j' for xray GUI selection 'c' for cave finder
is a foge 1.14 version going to come out? and if it does do we have a rough eta?
Hi DromarLeBanisseur will version 1.14.3 work for 1.14.4 or is there a different download for that
Hi everybody !
It's time for a new "last Optifine-compatible" version : 67-1144.
