That method can be used if forge is installed. But currently 1.14 forge is not released yet
Edit: Btw, minecraftforum is going to close soon. So where should we continue this post?
Yeah I know 1.14.x forge doesn't exist but I thought I'd post that for anyone who MAY want it working for older version & you never know MAYBE they will release a 1.14.x forge eventually (see this)
I'm hoping Dromar noticed my post about 'public sharing a mediafire folder' & him posting a link here to it before forum becomes read only.(& as long as the post don't get deleted - maybe someone can do a repeat post of the address just in case it does)
That way anyone will see the post here & can pop there to see what versions are available
- alternatively maybe Dromar can get his mod on a curseforge page.. afaik THAT is still going to exist as normal
EDIT: Just in case Dromar's post gets deleted: Here's a list of all links I've found so far of his Mods all in one place
Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions :
How can we stay in touch once the minecraftforum.net is in read-only mode ?
It's quite legitimate : some of you asked for a new place where people can share ideas and technical problems about the XRay mod.
Sorry, but I let you find the best way (Discord ? a new forum ?, ...) to do this, I don't have time to invest myself in a solution.
Once found I will be glad to publish news in there.
Will I open source the code ?
Not in the short term.
I consider the mod is still the property of AmbientOcclusion : he designed it, built it, made a website (http://minecraftxray.net) for it and created this thread.
I don't know what happend to him (nothing terrible I hope) ; as you know he didn't reconnect since decembre 2017. Maybe he will come back one day.
I deobfuscated completely his last version because I thought this very useful mod deserved to be maintained, but in keeping with AO's design.
That's why I made very little changes (it was rather improvements or putting back the fly mode and the coords) and that's why the content of the website is still relevant.
It doesn't mean I will not take your proposals into account.
And I'll reconsider my position the day I stop maintaining the mod.
What about the compatibility with Forge and Fabric ?
Fabric : I'm still working on it, the XRay mod is based on the Mojang Launchwrapper library and fabric-loader includes a FabricTweaker class but this is not working as expected. Optifine is based on the launchwrapper too so I have to look at the OptiFabric source. I feel optimistic, thank you for your patience.

Have a nice day !
Thank You for all you have done and are doing, it is appreciated by many here
doesn't work for me, I did all good but when I launch it with java a error message appear
Some additional info may help...
Firstly, whats the Java error message ?
It may also help us to help you if we know what version Minecraft you are running, What version of the Xray mod you're using & are you using the official Minecraft launcher or some other launcher like MultiMC (or similar) ??
After reading most of these posts, I have realized the need for a new place where the community can ask questions, talk, and explore together once more. Many people have mentioned starting a discord server, but have expressed not knowing exactly how to do so.
I decided to make a Discord server where everyone is free to talk, but admins and, more importantly, the creator of this mod can keep us updated with news and the links of future mods.
.... Did you end up with a file called (assuming you downloaded the latest version) called 'xray-65-1142.jar.zip' or 'xray-65-1142.jar' ??
If you ended up with 'xray-65-1142.jar.zip' - just rename it & remove the '.zip' part at the end so that you end up with 'xray-65-1142.jar', then double left click it to start the installer
Different browsers seem to handle downloads slightly differently. (not sure if it's just Mediafire or not)
> Using Chrome seems to download the files 'as-is', so you end up with 'xray-65-1142.jar'
> Using Firefox seems to download the files and add '.zip' to the end, so you end up with 'xray-65-1142.jar.zip'
If however you are asking how to install it 'manually' because you are using a different launcher than the official launcher, then the first post of this thread has a spoiler for 'manual installation' for some of the more popular launchers (Forge, LiteLoader, Technic and ATLauncher).
If you're using Multimc then it's a little more complicated - that's why I did a video showing how to do it (note that it's for an older xray version so the 'patch file' needs some slight alteration to work with the version you may be using)
You have to look in the description for the copy/paste text.. there's only 2 listed but I think you can see the different so you can easily alter the text to match the version of this mod you're using
I'm running Linux BTW, but i dunno if that change a lot of things regarding installing the mod
First thing first, i've downloaded "xray-65-1142.jar"
Then, run it with "java -jar xray-65-1142.jar", select profil "1.14.2", click "Install"
Then I launch the minecraft launcher, go to "launch options", i have the "1.14.2-Xray" profil, selected version "release 1.14.2-XRay"
I launch the game by pressing "Play" with the Xray profil selected
A message then appear (see attachments)
"An unexpected issue occured and the game has crashed(...)"
In the logs i can see :

I want to use that kind of put the jar file into the mods folder.I put the XRay-47.jar file in the mods folder but the game does not load the jar file. The version I am using is 1.8.8 in the server.

If you're only want to drag & drop it into the mod folder - I assume you've already installed Forge ??
If you haven't installed Forge then you need to download the version from the website for the version you want (in your case 1.8.8)
Vanilla Minecraft cannot see anything in the mods folder without a little help
For almost all versions - You would usually need Forge, it's the most popular and longest running mod loader around, although they can be a little slow sometimes updating to the latest version. (IIRC due to massive code changes in 1.13 & 1.14 it's taken them longer to update this time around)
Before 'Forge' got updated, you would've needed 'Rift' for 1.13, & 'Fabric' for 1.14+ but these required mods specially written to work; (most) forge mods wouldn't work with these mod loaders
dont know if this is stated allready or not, but uhm, i cant install the mod atleast the one on page 179, but uh i cant install it into my 1.14.2 forge thing, and it also doesent load into forge when i launch it because i put the jar in my mods folder.
?? You install it & then you have keys to press to activate Xray or the Menu...
The default keys are 'x' for xray', 'c' for cave finder - iirc it's 'j' for xray selection menu
Have a check in your control menu to see what keys to use.. you may have a conflict with other controls that's stopping it from working & may have to change one or 2 of them

Hi again,
Good idea CannonFoddr :
You should find all the XRay mod versions I've built so far (and the next ones) here :
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/5v6x64zl4irqq/xray
is there any way we are able to keep in touch with you once the forums go down on the 16th?
Thanks for posting this DromarLeBanisseur!
Hi everybody !
For now I will give news of the XRay mod in this dedicated Twitter account : @DromarLe
And all the XRay versions can be found here : http://www.mediafire.com/folder/5v6x64zl4irqq/xray
Will I open source the code ?
Not in the short term.

What about the compatibility with Forge and Fabric ?
Forge : as you may know there's no 1.13 recommended build and the 1.14 is a WIP : https://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/topic/70205-before-114/ So I don't work on the Forge compatibility as of now.

Hi Oshydaka
You did well ; the problem is the version of your JRE ; must be Java 8 and not > 8.
The exception is coming from the Mojang library Launchwrapper 1.12 (source in https://github.com/Mojang/LegacyLauncher) ; this library was used originally by Ambient Occlusion and I do not plan to replace it because the code works well in Java 8 (the cast problem with Java 9 is exposed here : https://community.oracle.com/message/14700710#14700710).
Thanks mate !
I'll try with JRE 8 then
Edit :
Got it working
