The Modern Armor Mod adds 7 new armor types: fiberglass, tough iron, bulletproof, fireproof, padded, bombproof, and scuba.
Fiberglass Armor: Probably the easiest armor to obtain. Protection levels are between leather and gold. Despite being made out of glass, fiberglass is reasonably durable (between gold and iron).
Tough Iron Armor: If you can't find any diamonds, this is the next best thing. It has the same durability as diamond and the protection levels are only slightly lower. Requires 3 times more iron than standard iron armor.
Bulletproof Armor: Default enchanted with Projectile Protection III. Otherwise, it has the same stats as gold, only more durable.
Fireproof Armor: Enchanted with Fire Protection V. Besides that, this armor has lower protection than leather, but reasonable durability. You won't get hurt if you're on fire, but I still wouldn't recommend swimming in lava lakes.
Padded Armor: This armor has the exact same stats as leather. But it's made out of silk, not leather. An equal alternative to killing cows (if you're against that).
The Bomb Suit: The armor of choice of professional creeper hunters. Enchanted with Blast Protection III, Projectile Protection II, and Fire Protection II. It has the same protection levels as iron and more durability.
Scuba Gear: A two piece armor set. The scuba helmet has the same stats as iron, but is enchanted with Aqua Affinity V (so you can mine underwater) and Respiration I. The scuba tank allows you to breathe underwater for over 1 minute (Respiration III). But it provides no protection at all.
Description Continued:
Besides armor, this mod also adds aesthetic blocks such as gypsum (found in gypsum ore), fiberglass, and tough iron. This mod also adds fire treated wood items including planks, stairs, and fences (made from wood and gypsum).
Gypsum Ore:
Gypsum ore is found under layer 50 and drops 3 - 6 gypsum crystals (unless mined with silk touch enchantment).
Gypsum Blocks:
Only aesthetic.
Fiberglass Block:
Only aesthetic.
Tough Iron Block:
Only aesthetic.
Fire Treated Wood Blocks:
They do not burn and are only a slight tinge different than regular wood.

Step 1: Install Minecraft Forge if it is not already installed. (go to the Minecraft Forge download page, find the proper version and click on "installer". Then, run the downloaded jar file.)
Step 2: Click on one of the links above and download the mod file (.zip).
Step 3: Drag the downloaded zip file into the "mods" folder in ".minecraft" (usually Computer/C:/Users/"user"/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/mods)
Step 4: In the Minecraft launcher, edit your profile settings to play Minecraft Forge instead of Minecraft.
Changelog
Update 1.1.0:Added Fire Treated Wood Slabs and Gypsum Slabs.
Bug Fixes: Gypsum blocks are now resistant to explosions. Also changed Gypsum block material to rock instead of iron (not a noticeable difference; just changes punching sounds and changes appearance on maps).
Update 1.0.1: Gave fiberglass armor more durability. Added limits to water breathing with the scuba tank. Added Respiration I enchantment to Scuba Helmet.

However, I have one little nit to pick. Fiberglass is known to be quite durable and efficient.
"An individual structural glass fiber is both stiff and strong in tension and compression—that is, along its axis. Although it might be assumed that the fiber is weak in compression, it is actually only the long aspect ratio of the fiber which makes it seem so; i.e., because a typical fiber is long and narrow, it buckles easily.[3] On the other hand, the glass fiber is weak in shear—that is, across its axis. Therefore if a collection of fibers can be arranged permanently in a preferred direction within a material, and if the fibers can be prevented from buckling in compression, then that material will become preferentially strong in that direction.
Furthermore, by laying multiple layers of fiber on top of one another, with each layer oriented in various preferred directions, the stiffness and strength properties of the overall material can be controlled in an efficient manner. In the case of fiberglass, it is the plastic matrix which permanently constrains the structural glass fibers to directions chosen by the designer. With chopped strand mat, this directionality is essentially an entire two dimensional plane; with woven fabrics or unidirectional layers, directionality of stiffness and strength can be more precisely controlled within the plane.
A fiberglass component is typically of a thin "shell" construction, sometimes filled on the inside with structural foam, as in the case of surfboards. The component may be of nearly arbitrary shape, limited only by the complexity and tolerances of the mold used for manufacturing the shell." - Wikipedia
It is additionally made of a resin of epoxy or vinyl, not from glass, as the name may imply. Otherwise, I really like the application of the mod, and how useful everything is.

I suppose I should have researched a bit more on the physical properties of fiberglass. I'll give fiberglass some more durability points in update 1.0.1. Maybe the same durability as gold but I don't think it should give more protection than a metal.

I noticed that when I was doing my research. However, adding synthesised plastic fibers would be impossible to implement. So I had to sacrifice scientific accuracy for simplicity.
Thanks a lot for the mod showcase! That just made my day. I'll edit it into the post if that's okay.
You pointed out that there were no gypsum slabs. I was initially going to add those, but for some reason, the code is rather bizarre for slabs. When I tried adding them, the textures wouldn't render and I would end up with 7 identical copies of the same slab. They also dropped lava particles when I mined them. When I have more coding experience, I'll try to add those back into the mod.

I dont mine the video to be added to the post. I will be waiting for the future updates, it got potential mate.
Not too bad of a mod. Could do with some more original ideas though, you need something really cool. An idea for a fiberclass armor: make it really, really durable, but also really, really crappy. Like, a full set would give you 2/10 protection.
Well, I resorted to bumping and I hate myself for it . The post got about 10 views in 2 days so I figured it wasn't going to get any replies anytime soon .
But it's not an entirely meaningless bump. Some possible items that I might add are flippers and maybe a parachute or something to prevent fall damage.
If you have any ideas that you'd like to see added, I'm willing to add them. So just tell me what in a reply!
Finally added slabs: Gypsum slabs, and all Fire Treated Wood slabs.
Also fixed a few bugs: Gypsum blocks are now resistant to explosions (that's normal). Changed Gypsum's material from iron to rock (This is not very noticeable. Materials just define the punching sounds and map color).

This mod got alot of potential

Due to popular request, fiberglass armor now has more durability (between gold and iron).
The Scuba tank now has a limited air supply (Respiration III enchantment).
The Scuba helmet now has Respiration I as well as the original Aqua Affinity V.
But it's not an entirely meaningless bump. Some possible items that I might add are flippers and maybe a parachute or something to prevent fall damage.

Thanks! I added it to the post.
Congrats and good luck on the new channel.
Thanks! Fantastic mod, by the way! I may use it if I do a single player let's play.
Cool. I'd like to see it.
Also. I've started working on adding slabs back in. I should be finished by today, or tomorrow. Definitely before the end of the weekend.
Another great showcase! I'll add that to the main post.
