i've tried adding the ProjectRed pickaxes and the MagicalCrops pickaxes but Veinminer isnt picking them up as a registered tool , any ideas? (MC 1.7.10 Forge 1205)
Hi, I was wondering if you might be able to shed some light on an issue that I am having. I have been attempting to use VeinMiner along with the DNS Techpack using the ATLauncher. The MCv1.6 versions worked fine, but with the update to 1.7.10, it seems something broke. I have updated VeinMiner to the latest version for 1.7.10 of minecraft, 0.17.10, as well as having tried the 0.20.0 version. Neither worked. I've tried all the different settings of VeinMiner from sneak, no sneak, keypress; have tried adding the tools and the blocks to the whitelist. I have tried disabling all mods that I could using the ATLauncher, and am left with the following:
Forge Multipart
Mekanism
Project Red
Minecraft Forge
bspkrsCore
CodeChickenCore
CodeChickenLib
LiteLoader
VeinMiner-1.7.10_0.20.0.jar
Is there any known issue between any of these mods or am I missing something else that I may have to do?
Can anyone help me out? I wanna configure Vein Miner so that it only mines out a 5 by 5 area infront of me, but I dont know how to tweak the 'Limit' section to do that. I'd use Tinker's Construct hammers, but Ive grown tired of that mod.
EDIT: To clarify what I mean, I want it to still break blocks forwards from my initial block, but outwards only in a five by five tunnel.

for the pack i've been working w/ (similar feel to ftb) i find having to leave it on default "when sneaking" + it's keybind (for me that's ~ ) and it depends on What tool your using . I've observed it wont accept Mekanism, ProjectE Redmatter/dark matter tools, Magical Crops picks, or ProjectRed's Gem Picks maybe this is a bug but, if you manually add the tools but they have a ID thats tooo long (example the Ruby pick from Project Red, "ProjRed|Exploration:projectred.exploration.pickaxeruby") it'll show up in that Config window's tool list as a pick but refuses to pull up it's item icon and will not "VeinMine".
if you want to test if it's working at all/not being blocked by a existing mod, use a vanilla pick or a Quartz pick or a tinker's pick. or remake the ATLauncher's instance of DNS Techpack within MultiMC5, and add only bare minimal to use veinminer, then start adding mods 1 by 1 that you suspect, if it all works fine till one's entered, then you got your solution, (though i doubt DNSTechpack's Pack devs have anything there to intentionally Disable veinminer like some packs Disable NEI's F7 Mob grid,

No, it can't be done, and it is not something I am going to do.

I tried to set up the ruby axe for project red,but it does not work. How do I do that???
I have tested the project red pickaxe with the latest build and it works on iron ore.

I have loaded up the latest DNS Techpack and tested an iron pickaxe (and a ruby pickaxe) on iron ore (beware fool's iron ore) when I remapped my hotkey (morph takes over the grave key) and it worked.

No. Only the server needs to have it to work. If you want bonus features, install the client as well.
I downloaded Sky factory through ATL and can't seem to get veinminer to activate. It also does not appear in "Controls" and none of the commands work. is there something i need to do to the config file?
I think it was mentioned in a previous post but ores from "denseores" won't get vein-mined. If someone has a working config that allows them to break alongside the normal ore, please post it!
It also appears that the Gravel Ore from Tinker's Construct d39 for 1.7.10 can no longer be vein mined. It was changed in d39 to require a shovel, so I removed them from the Pickaxe list, and added them to the shovel list, but they won't break together anymore. This is my config:

It seems like it's automatically readding them under the pickaxe. Perhaps that is why it's no longer working correctly?
EDIT:
I changed my config to disable autodetect of blocks for the pickaxe, and removed them from the pickaxe block list again, and it still does not work correctly. I've been using a regular old minecraft Iron shovel (which does successfully mine/break the block) but the chain reaction does not take place. The shovel works with regular gravel and clay, and the other blocks/tools all work fine.
I was trying out the Ex Aliquo's TCon "Hammered" modifier and it looks like Veinminer does not work with it. I tried the "Crooked" modifier and that seems to work.
OK, well, how does one, if possible, blacklist the mod from breaking Smooth Stone? Ive looked at the configs, and Im not 100 percent sure how to do it.
I cant get vein miner to work for me. I tried all of the modes. AUTO (which is a key binding that i choose, the default is the "GRAVE" key, SNEAK, NO_SNEAK. nothing seems to work for me. it only breaks 1 block at a time.
I have Forge version 7.10.25.1208 installed.
I have Vein Miner version 0.21.0 installed.

Did you scroll to the bottom of the config and change those two false options to true?
That's nice of you to ask DJ... mind telling those of us that don't have a day job in computer coding, a.) where to find this mysterious config file (all I'm finding is multiple sets of conditional configuration dot class files) b.)how to read the funky computer code the dot class files are displayed in when one opens them in notepad. and finally c.) which options we're supposed to be looking for to change from false to true? I know, I know... what is an every day joe shmoe noob even doing in here if we don't know how to write our own mods... but computer hackers aren't the only ones playing minecraft... something to keep in mind the next time you look down your nose at the n00bs asking for help in the forums. (i.e. instructions are king)
And why, yes, I am experiencing the same problem as the previous poster, and have been unsuccessfully looking for the answer to this very problem for the past four days. I'm a bit tense on the subject, and everyone else in the thread talking about how to further fiddle with the parameters in the mod to make it do funky things. Or answering something as simple as how to make the mod work in vague, half answers just like yours.

I assume you are using 1.7.10 from the version numbers involved.
Try:
Go to the mod list
Select VeinMiner
Click on "Config"
Click the button beside "Enable Veinminer" till it shows "Enable when sneaking"
Click "Done"
Go into a single player world
Get a vanilla axe
Find a vanilla tree
While sneaking, chop the wood of the tree with the axe.
That should work. If it doesn't something is wrong.
I apologize about my snarkiness. It's just frustrating seeing coders talk about all the neat things they can make any given mod do, and very rarely anyone addressing the issues of trouble shooting. And of course I finally get, not only a response, but from the developer themselves... and forge goes and breaks down on me.

You need to do one of these:
Use Java 7 instead of Java 8
Downgrade Java 8.
Update forge to a more recent version.
As for the Veinminer problem. Also have a look in the config gui to see the block limit and range. They may be 0, causing it not to work.

Yes it does damage the tool. 100% durability (and quite a chunk of hunger as well)

I have Forge version 7.10.25.1208 installed.
I have Vein Miner version 0.21.0 installed.
and nothing else at the moment.
.
Did you scroll to the bottom of the config and change those two false options to true?
And why, yes, I am experiencing the same problem as the previous poster, and have been unsuccessfully looking for the answer to this very problem for the past four days. I'm a bit tense on the subject, and everyone else in the thread talking about how to further fiddle with the parameters in the mod to make it do funky things. Or answering something as simple as how to make the mod work in vague, half answers just like yours.
I assume you are using 1.7.10 from the version numbers involved.
Try:
That should work. If it doesn't something is wrong.

You need to do one of these:
