Perhaps the vitium problem could be solved by making alchemy or such occasionally produce chunks of vitium? like an by-product that pops out sometimes.
And what it does? Pointing fingers? That's all? It does not teleport you to the biome, nor does it even guarantee that the said biome is actually there.
Neither it says how far the biome, considering it actually decided the biome is found.
And at least for 1.7.10 it has a bug in recipe which you have to fix with CraftTweaker.

I don't know that it's a problem... some things it makes absolute sense to gate behind Vitium. It does seem a little harsh to me to require it for essentia pipes, though.
Does anyone else think there should be a flux-free way to turn crystals into essentia? Given that they're so pure, you'd think it would be less messy.
I think it should be a machine past the essentia centrifuge. The player realizes that they’ve got a lot of crystals lying around that aren’t particularly useful since they’re mostly using essentia jars for things. So they devise an ‘essentia condenser’ that functions similarly to the essentia smelter, but is highly efficient at converting only crystals into essentia.
The catch is that it runs off Aura, and it takes a lot for large amounts of crystal, so if you’re not careful you’ll have problems with your ambient Vis levels. Thoughts?

Honestly it probably wouldn't even need high Vis cost as a balancing point - except for primals and Vitium (semi)naturally occurring, creating crystals already comes at the cost of 50% efficiency, which is already lower than even the base furnace, though without the byproducts.
so ive looked back to at least page 1982 and couldnt find an answer to this: i seem to be getting this crash whenever a pech spawns. can someone help me fix the issue?
Before I got around to overflowing a crucible far from home, I managed to open a rift close by. The weird thing is, the dioptra showed only a small bump of flux! And I hadn't done much alchemy at all, I must have cooked less than a stack of stuff.
Possibly this is working as intended? Maybe Azanor's intent is that you almost inevitably screw things up when you're starting out, and then have to learn how to fix it?
I wish I had moved my alchemy apparatus to the Nether like I was planning. I didn't expect it would be a problem so soon.
I've noticed on a Creative world that a rift doesn't mean instant taint, though. How long do I have to move?

Taint doesn't appear until a seed appears, and that requires flux to be around 100 points.
It's an incomplete feature. The rift is what actually spawns the Taint Seed, and there is currently no non-cheating way to get rid of the rift, until next update.
Perfect for finding this biome, and looting its contents. Definitely worth adding. I may use this.

I would say that before "solving" any "problems", we should see the entire mod content.
Nice! But it seems too cheap for what it does.
Quark has Pathfinder Maps, which you can get from cartographers. Mushroom and Ice Spikes maps are 5th-level trades of theirs.

Fair point. Maybe it's a bit more inefficient when it comes to the primal crystals, encouraging the use of the centrifuge for primal essentia?

I might check that out. Wonder what "interesting" means in this context?

Crash...
how to fix?
Make a report on the GitHub issues site: https://github.com/Azanor/thaumcraft-beta/issues
A quick update: An area near my house did indeed get tainted. Thankfully, I caught it really early and killed the seed with a bow from my back door.
And another note on getting Vitium from mycelium: Botania lets you create mycelium really easily.
The area next to my house keeps getting re-Tainted, even though I'm not doing anything to produce flux. What am I doing wrong? Or is it a bug?
It's an incomplete feature. The rift is what actually spawns the Taint Seed, and there is currently no non-cheating way to get rid of the rift, until next update.
You can try to stabilize the rift.
If my experience is still valid, that's not a good idea. I crashed my world by stabilizing a rift....
