No this is thaumcraft 5, as such there are no magic beans. Perhaps I may have accidentaly also looked at a node, but I think I avoided them.
It's a special kind of grass that spawns in Enchanted Forest biomes called "Ambient Grass" I believe. You can only summon it with cheats, can't get it normally. All it does is emit little shimmers that go up slowly and disappear.
I have little to no idea what peeps are talking about here.
I'm beginning to think TC5 had more new content than I thought, is it worth starting a new 1.8 game just to go through?
Is there a mod that gives a tool like the 'This for That' focus?
That's my main draw to this mod.

I don't care about passing the torch. I would like him to open up TC5 and have a group upkeep it for newer versions of Minecraft. I don't need new things because TC5 is no where near burned out for me. I doubt it would be for quite some time. I just don't want to be locked in an aging version of Minecraft for a single mod. Especially when every other mod is updating.

TC5 on 1.8.9 is awesome. The changes to alchemy and golems is well worth a look.

That liquid sources can be placed in the 'Stary Void' blocks in the Outer Lands, when they touch an air space and are in vacuum mode. This effectively destroys them and is the only way to do so. Outside of the maze the entire dimension is filled with them from the void to world height.
Shambling Husks can also spawn as baby and villager variants. They will attack and infect villagers, turning them into zombie villagers. Likewise Shambling Husk villagers can be cured to get a villager. This is the only way to get villagers into the Outer Lands as the portal can only transport player entities. While I have not encountered this, it is possible Shambling Husks can wear pumpkins on Halloween and can spawn as chicken jockey variant.
These little tidbits are very interesting! I might try to make a spooky hidden village in the starry void of the Outerlands on the server I play on just to confused people

I remember having played it when it just came out... it was fun but then the migrations began to 1.10/1.11 and 1.8.9 kinda became an abandoned version... I don't remember anything being particularly bad with 1.8.9 but TC5 from my memory only problem was almost EVERYTHING released flux which bothered my neurotic aversion to taint...

5 pure nodes solve all your problems, one node solves most of them. But I find the fact that players themselves can cause some flux(By just being there) annoying.
I created a superflat preset with the plains biome and the top surface being thaumcraft:grass_ambient. In the night, I could not find any shimmers. When I made a superflat preset with the magical forest biome (id 193) and left the surface as grass, shimmers did appear at night.
So I cannot confirm it. It's kinda sad, because it would have made allot of sense to me.
Also, I could obtain the item by mining it with a silk touch shovel.

If there is none mentioned in the first page of this thread, then no, because the only way it could be official is by being promoted on the mod's original thread itself, by Azanor himself.

If you're talking about the Wand Focus of Equal-Trade, there are plenty of mods that use a similar mechanic. Botania has the Wand of Shifting Crust which pretty much does that same thing, better in my opinion as you don't have to work so hard for it. Also I'm pretty sure another mod has the "Swapping Wand", ExtraUtilities I think?
Also, yes, this mod had a great run; thank you very much Azanor for all the hard work and dedication you put into this mod, we were lucky to even get it as far as 1.8. Thanks, and may your future be bright.
Is there any possible way to get my hands on the alpha now that Azanor has stopped working on it and doesn't have the option to pay for it on patreon anymore?
Since this mod isn't being updated anymore, does anyone know of a good alternative mod that's like Thaumcraft? Thaumcraft, imo, was by far the best magical/wizard mod I've played on MC. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any other good magic mod.
Or perhaps does anyone know how to make a port to newer version of MC? For instance, Botania didn't have any official release for 1.8.9, but someone made an unofficial Botania with a port for 1.8.9. Yes, it was allowed, they just needed to make/link some official statement about it. If you use Twitch app, you can find it under 1.8.9.

He's not giving up on it, it's just on hold until he has time to get back to it, read the first post before assuming the mod is dead
it says he could be missing for years... we could at least get some kind of unofficial 1.10 or 1.11 port so we can keep thaumcraft going with the same content..... I, like so many others, dont need new editions... just for it to be ported forward.

Not happening unless he open sources (which i'm hoping for, he could just go through a copyright patent in order to keep the work as his if he's so worried over it) or passes the torch to someone else.
