anyone figure out how to interact or open monoliths yet? so far there doesn't appear to be a way?
There is a way to interact with them by using eldrtich eyes. Aside from spawning guardian's, not much really happens.
Trust me, you can't open them yet. I've given it the once over with an NBT editor, and there isn't much there to toy with. You will just need to wait for full implementation.

Anyone know of a way to farm Sano? apart from beans.
healing potions. you can semi automate them with golems and at least 2 brewing stands, if you give them the raw materials. (hoppers should be able to feed nether wart amd glistering melons into the top slots, golems should be able to move water bottles and potions into one brewing stand for awkward potions, then into the second for healing potions, then into a chest). or you can use 3 golems/brewing stands and glostone for healing 2 potions.
though sano beans are really easy to breed. theyre just victus and ordo.
that sounds like a lot of work :/ I'm no good to automating things.
well. thats actually a really easy setup. there is probably a way to do it much more efficient. imo, manabeans are the best way to go for you. breeding up to sano should be fast, and after that its basically just like any other farm.
my next goal is to make lucrum and metallum, so i can mass produce gold with the metal transmutaion recipes, and start pech trading. then im gonna build a house out of gold blocks XD

Aside from healing potions, and beans, the best way is probably to set up a cake factory. You'll get a lot of other aspects with it, but cakes have 4 Sano apiece.
You may also get some from Three Meat Treat:

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
Technically intended, as nodes in tainted lands can turn into tainted nodes I believe
If he managed to get close enough to the node without being eaten, its not a hungry node. IT consumes blocks and entitys along with items, and im pretty sure that hungry nodes specifically dont spawn in structures that have nodes in them
I had a hungry node in a desert temple once. I thought a creeper had blown up inside the temple, until I came to fix it and got grabbed.

You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
I don't know any way of auto crafting with Thaumcraft.
You don't really need to, just make 16 cakes at a time, almost as per vanilla: Clear out your inventory as needed (a Travelling Trunk may help), tie up a cow next to an Arcane Table, grab three buckets and piles of eggs, wheat and sugar. Lay out the recipe in stacks on the table (that's why you're using an Arcane Table), and get to milking.
By the way, my mana-bean bug turned out to be a bit more general: If a mana bean is growing next to any other aspect, it can change aspect. If it's a compatible aspect, it can breed compound, but if not, it can simply be replaced by the other aspect (or vice versa).

I still think energizing a hungry node should do something cool. It doesn't have to be anything big, (though that'd be cool too), more of a cool reward or extra function for being able to successfully find, capture and energize the node.

Being able to harness that massive amount of vis is reward enough I would say.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
Being able to harness that massive amount of vis is reward enough I would say.
Except that they don't give much vis when energized. Only the square root of their aspect cap, which rarely tops 30 per aspect. I can find a better normal node than that in an hour, and that one won't try to kill me.

Haha I realised that just after I posted my comment. Thaumcraft was the crash inducer, the others were designed to be compatible with both 1.7.2 and 1.7.0.
It's hard updating 150 mods...

Oh and please visit my modelling page, you will not be dissapointed:
I used a semi-automatic brewer in vanilla. It includes droppers, hoppers and some redstone. The design is from Mumbo jumbo, if I recall correctly.
In other news: I think I am finally getting a grasp on the alechmical furnace! What seems to work for me is to set up the alembics and the pipes; cook the item in the furnace; wait for the alembics to fill; label the alembic; then place the jars.At least with this basic setup I am using:
I also made my Boots of Striding. That went without a hitch but something went wrong when I tried to make the Sword of the Zephyr. Is it maybe better to not place the pedestals on the corners of the 5 x 5 grid? It's the only thing I can think of that could've gone wrong, except maybe the placement of the warded jars containing the essentia. The thaumium sword I use in the recipe is brand new and unenchanted; I keep pedestals I don't use stored in a chest; I have four crystal clusters and three candles set up at the altar.
It's easier to give advice on an altar if you post a picture of it. Two things that I'm getting from your description, though.
What 5x5 grid are you talking about? The total area of the infusion altar + pedestals can be 17*17, if that's what you were thinking. ALWAYS have symetrical pedestals, even if you have an odd numbers of items (empty pedestals don't count agaisnt you as long as they have a twin, and one fill + one empty s better than one filled and no twin.) Also, you have an odd number of stabilizers.
In other news: I think I am finally getting a grasp on the alechmical furnace! What seems to work for me is to set up the alembics and the pipes; cook the item in the furnace; wait for the alembics to fill; label the alembic; then place the jars.At least with this basic setup I am using:
Yup, that's the basic idea. Label each alembic as it picks an aspect, then slap on a jar. The jar doesn't need to be labeled. Note that you don't actually have to run the pipes down to ground level, jars are perfectly happy hanging from their pipes in midair. (But hey, the tubes just got cheap, thanks Azanor!) Once you've got a little spare essentia of each aspect, make a phial of it, and stash the phials in a double-chest with your blank labels. Next time, you can pick which alembic you want to hold that aspect, and label it before-hand to make it so.

The Boots of the Traveler is usually a somewhat tougher infusion, but with that few stabilizers, you're depending heavily on luck anyway.
Keep spare ingredients on your hotbar, plus dirt for cleaning flux goo off the pedestals. (The only way to remove flux goo is to replace it with a block such as dirt.) Shift-right-click to place dirt over the pedestal instead of "in" it, and always clean off a fluxed pedestal (and replace the item) first, before you go on to mop up the floor. Don't place blocks between the altar posts until your infusion is done.
As someone else noted, 7 stabilizers can't be symmetrical, you want them in pairs. If you have an odd candle left over, leave it in storage until you make more. And you will want lots more candles when you get into tougher infusions. It's never too soon to start digging out your candle room beneath the altar.

I agree. Hoped they could be the requirement for the eldritch portal though. If vis sips in our world through nodes, then hungry nodes must be quite big holes in the barrier between the worlds, even so great it sucks stuff in to the other side.
Barrier between the worlds?
I haven't heard of anything similar:O
They're still a work in progress. I've heard you can use eldritch eyes on the altar though.

Aside from healing potions, and beans, the best way is probably to set up a cake factory. You'll get a lot of other aspects with it, but cakes have 4 Sano apiece.
You may also get some from Three Meat Treat:
Any 3 meat/fish nuggets + sugar + bowl
Is it normal that buffers can't take out essentia from the reservoirs? I've been trying for a couple of time now, and it is still not working...
yet, heavy is the burden of the wise ones, when no one understands a word of what they say.
So, I remember that we're all mad here, and it's ok..."

I had a hungry node in a desert temple once. I thought a creeper had blown up inside the temple, until I came to fix it and got grabbed.
To paraphrase Captain Tagon, never tell me what crashes your game as if it's something that'll crash everyone's game, especially when you have that many mods. Mine displays aspects in inventory just fine.
Check out the Addon Called Automagy! You can autocraft using golems in that add-on. Pretty cool!
Outside of Thaumcraft, Botania and Extra Utilities have simple autocrafting mechanics as well. ^^

Being able to harness that massive amount of vis is reward enough I would say.
Except that they don't give much vis when energized. Only the square root of their aspect cap, which rarely tops 30 per aspect. I can find a better normal node than that in an hour, and that one won't try to kill me.
It's hard updating 150 mods...
[quote]I also made my Boots of Striding.
Barrier between the worlds?
I haven't heard of anything similar:O
