That crash does occur in my mod's GUI but it happens entirely in vanilla code and my mod is barely involved.
The stack trace indicates it occurred when one of the hotbar keys was pressed while the mouse was hovering over slot #292 (which seems unusually high for a backpack), so unless you have a backpack with 260 slots I would assume slot #292 was added by another mod and would expect the crash would occur in any GUI modified by that mod.
This version will catch that exception and should prevent that crash.
When using a backpack in hand and clicking on a private check, i can open the chest.
I using a plugin maded by me to prevent non members of this region to interact with chests. I tryed to cancel the Sponge interactBlock events but no lucky, it fires the event but dont cancels to open the chest.
Using any other items from other mods and vanilla, always is cancelled, only with backpack i can open strangers others private chests

and on and on about every one minute or less, I would get the "Can't keep up" and serious lag in the game.. Literally blocks popping in and out that we had just mined. This is with Twilight Forest, Mystcraft, ZombieAwareness, Bibliocraft removed (above image).
As soon as I removed backpacks it completely cleared up. In fact I placed back ALL the other mods except backpacks...

If my mod is causing lag I would assume that its taking too long to save the backpack data.
It saves its data each time the WorldEvent.Save event occurs, as it doesn't take long to save the backpack data and as I usually only have a few dimensions I didn't notice that the WorldEvent.Save event fires for each dimension.
MystCraft adds a whole lot of extra dimensions and these extra dimensions cause more WorldEvent.Save events and would be causing my mod to save far too many times.
This version will only save the backpack data when it has actually changed and it should fix the lag problem.
If it does fix the problem let me know and I'll upload the new version to CurseForge

I would surmise this is affecting other mods other than Mystcraft as I removed it for troubleshooting and was still getting the lag every minute or so..

I'm excited to use the quantum chest, but I'm poor and don't have any ender's eye D:
I could edit the recipe but this not seems fair, maybe if I find a good substitute for enders eye.. (not so hard but not so easier)
Still using your mod faithfully. Thanks for keeping up the work on it, even older versions. I really miss your recipe editor. It's hard going from one of my 1.7.10 packs and using it, then jumping on a 1.12.2 and trying to use it wonder why it won't work, lol.
Would you please add an option to limit the number of backpacks to carry? Unlimited backpacks break balance.
I've added a "Restrict backpack creation" option to 3.5.5 which causes all 'new' backpacks to become duplicates of that player's bound backpack (this happens when the new backpack is first opened).
This essentially limits players to creating one backpack each, they can however share their backpacks with other players.
This backpack creation restriction can by bypassed using the '/backpack unbind' command, so you'll want to keep the "Allow backpack command" option off to prevent that from happening.
