In 1.12 testing, the backpacks exist in creative and seem to be usable, but the crafting recipes don't show up in JEI and don't produce anything if you try to craft them.
There was also something about the backpacks not getting the IDs they asked for, but I'm not yet sure if that's due to other mods I'm running.

It's working for me.
If there is a back button between your inventory and your backpack like in this screenshot:
then you're in the 'lightweight' backpack GUI (which can be used to access your backpack without closing your current interface, but can't be used to upgrade backpacks) and you will need to open the full backpack GUI by SHIFT+right-clicking on it or by 'using' the backpack from your hotbar.
Nobody here seems to have the same problem as mine with the new Backpack 1.12.
Your mod doesn't work for me in survival. But still work in creative as I can drag&drop your custom items and use it properly.
The game doesn't create the Dynamic_Recipes folder anymore. So I can't craft any of your items...
Did I miss something?
Your mod is a must and I love it anyway! Thank you!
Minecraft 1.12 has changed the recipe system to load recipes from JSON files, these changes should allow recipes to be edited 'natively' so the Dynamic Recipe system has been removed in 1.12 (it would also be extremely difficult get the Dynamic Recipe system to work with the new recipe system).
You should be able to craft backpacks using the default recipes, if you want to edit the recipes there's probably a 1.12 way to edit recipes using resource packs, but if there's not you'll need to open up this mod's jar as a zip archive and edit the json files in \assets\backpacks16840\recipes.
Loving this mod, and wanted to make a few suggestions.
#1 Compatibility with inventory tweaks. (Not sure if this is possible, but it would be awesome)
#2 Changing the GUI to work with the new crafting GUI.
#3 Making more expensive versions of the packs. (The materials needed seem very easy to come by.)
Feel free to tell me to go jump off a cliff!
Thanks!
#1 - Inventory Tweaks and Mouse Tweaks tend to crash when the number of slots in an interface changes. My mod has included the Inventory Tweaks API for almost 4 years now, explicitly to prevent the crashes caused by it trying to 'tweak' my interfaces.
It's possible it has improved in the last 4 years, so if I understand the API correctly this version should have Inventory Tweaks enabled.
#2 - Looks like that would be more hassle than its worth
#3 - I'm happy with the costs of the current default recipes, but if you want 'backpack tiers' you could add multiple backpack recipes, with the more expensive recipes crafting larger backpacks (initial backpack size can be set via NBT by setting "width" and "height"), you could also remove the recipe for the backpack pouch to prevent switching tiers.
Playing on a modded server, and when a player crafts a backpack restorer and puts it in their inventory the client crashes and they can not connect back to the server until I use an NBT editor to remove the backpack restorer from their player file.

So on the server console I see this:
It's the client that is crashing, so there should be a crash log on the client.
Does the crash occur when any player crafts a backpack restorer, or is it just happening for that one player?
The server log mentions Quality Tools is trying to look at one of my mod's gui components on the server, that might be a bug in Quality Tools or a problem with my mod's gui configuration. I'll have to have a look later.
No crash log is created on the client, the client goes the screen that you get when you get disconnected and there is a "Internal Server Error" message. This happens when any person tries to craft the backpack restorer. I can do more testing on my test server/client tomorrow before I push an update to a modpack.
EDIT: It does appear to be some interaction between Quality Tools and the Backpack mod, removing the Quality Tools mod from the server "resolves" the problem but we can't just remove that mod. One thing of note, in single player things are fine, even with Quality Tools.

Try this version, it may prevent that internal server error from occurring.
That fixes the issue! Any way to push that to Curse?
EDIT: Nevermind, still crashes. Seems I forgot to put the Quality Tools mod back on the server. Still get the same error on the server logs "Attempted to load class brad16840/common/gui/RestorerContainer$ScrollButton for invalid side SERVER"

If you hold down shift it will open your inventory instead of your backpack.
You could also press the "Swap Item In Hands" keybinding (defaults to "F") to equip a different item to your offhand slot.
pls pls tell me that 1.12 is in works.. i love your backpacks.

Okay. maybe this version will fix it.
Yes, that version does fix it.
