Great mod! I enjoy all of the sounds. My personal favorite is when you walk through Wild Grass. The Glass and Glowstone sounds sound very off though. It sounds like hollowed metallic wood. Maybe make it sound a bit more Glass-Like? (Like similar sounds to when you break glass)
I have a suggestion, because in real life you can't really hear your footsteps that loud because they aren't that loud if you're walking slowly etc. Also some materials should be softer and louder than the other for example Wool or carpet, you don't really hear anything.
So when you're walking its soft but then when you run it's louder.
I've been going around looking for awesome clientside mods for 1.6.2 and this one is fantastic. The depth and precision it adds to something as simple as foot steps is really surprising. Like you woulnd't expect that much could be done to foot steps, but you just haven't use this.
Basically as far as suggestions go, I'm in agreement with most people in that you need to add a volume adjust option somewhere. The noises for walking around are noticeably louder than other stuff, and even though you probably did that on purpose, there really should be an option for maximum personal choice.
Plus, this mod goes incredibly well with your MAtmos and they mind as well be one mod together. However, if MAtmos' volume is turned lower than usual, then the foot steps are just blatantly playing over other sounds.
Other than that little thing, this is awesome and I'll be using it for as long as it's available on current versions of Minecraft. Hope to see future updates and possibly other mods that you produce.
edit: There's volume adjustment available in the userconfig.cfg file in /mods/presencefootsteps
Unfortunately, despite how freakin' awesome this mod seems, I'm going to have to wait until all 62 (or at least the main ones) of my already installed mods from 1.5.2 to update before I go to 1.6.2

If one of those 62 Mods is RedPower, Don't count on playing 1.6.2
Why don't you make this into a resource pack and let creators use it to put in their resource packs??? that way people who dont have forge can enjoy it as well!!!
Please take this into concideration...
Thanks

It is a mod since it does way more than just replace existing sounds.
There seems to be a problem with modded blocks not making any sounds when stepped on. The mod is highlands mod which just adds new trees, leaves, wood blocks, and flowers, but when i just walk on the leaves or wood the game doesnt make any sounds(it makes the vanilla sounds very very low i could barley hear it). is it because this mod uses the id number for the block sound check or some other thing
Also when riding a horse it dosent make the sounds that is made when walking
This mod is simply amazing, so glad that it was ever made, but maybe there could be a few improvements to it.
Perhaps make the sounds for iron and gold blocks louder so you can hear them, and perhaps make a sound for walking on torches. And I think a nether wart sound should sound like a lower sound frequency of the sponge or cake.

I have a suggestion that would make this more compatible with mods.
Maybe if there's no value in the block map, you could make the mod automatically assign a sound based on the walk sound or material the block is set to (sound and material in the code)

Is anyone else having trouble installing this alongside the latest version of Forge, MAtmos, & MCPatcher? I followed the instructions, but it won't work.

I'm playing 1.5, not 1.4. I could give you a list of the mods I have if you want.

Hope you like it! If you do, I'd love to see it on the post =D
Thanks for a fantastic mod, and have an amazing day! =)
But there should be a Minecraft 1.5.2
