are you planning on a back port or should i just enjoy it when i update to 1.6?
We're DEFINITELY not back-porting, but if you click on the Older Versions link (under the main download link), there is one 1.5.2 version in there. However, use it at your own risk. That was from way back before we even posted the thread, so there's likely tons of bugs and missing features. The IDs are also completely different between the 1.6.2 and 1.5.2 versions, so you probably won't be able to smoothly transfer your 1.5 world to 1.6 I highly recommend just updating to 1.6 since there's quite a lot that could go wrong with 1.5, but if you really want to try it, go ahead.
it looks like a great mod but until TE is 1.6 im stayin in the past... unless your machines will be able to cover it (once that section is out of course)
Actually, there's a good chance that there will be several machines in Extrapolated Technologies that have similar functions to Thermal Expansion (assuming that's the TE you're talking about). If you're interested, I've been slowly working on the features list for Extrapolated Technologies over the past week or so. There's not much there yet, but if you check back once in a while, you can see what we have planned for that section, whenever we get to making it. Additionally, there is a new utility block called the Melter that is being added to Extrapolated Ores next update, which should also help to cover that gap (I *think* Thermal Expansion has a melting device of some kind. I'm pretty rusty on my FTB).
Indeed there are actually! I just figured out how to use OreDictionary right before the last update, so I only had time to add the Boards from Extrapolated Decor before the release, but once we finish bug hunting (there've been a ton of bugs to fix, since we did a full recode after last update) I'm planning to add Copper, Tin, and any other common ores to the OreDict.
Awesome! The rest of the mod is really good but having the tin and copper not interchangable with metallurgy and forestry was kind of annoying. Glad to hear it's going to be fixed!
As far as releasing a patch for 1.6.4 goes, we're working on it. The current github version is all updated, but there are currently too many bugs to release it, so we're still working on that.
HOWEVER, another new thing on the thread that you may not have noticed is the new developmental builds download link. We're now handling our in-development versions similarly to how Mojang has been doing the weekly snapshots; we'll post a compiled version of the current github every week or so, which you are free to download and test. The versions are not finished by any means, and thus arent released as official releases, but by testing these versions and reporting bugs, you can significantly speed up the process of bugfixing for us so that we can crank out updates faster.
Finally, PLEASE comment on the thread if you have thoughts, comments, criticism, suggestions, questions, or anything else. The thread has been stuck at the bottom of the mod section for about two weeks now, which is not very encouraging for us to keep making updates. :/ Also, as much as I generally try to avoid shameless self promotion, if you happen to do mod reviews or other cool youtube stuff, doing a mod review or spotlight would be HUGELY appreciated. At the moment, there are only two publicly released mod spotlights on the mod, and one of them is in Spanish, so we need all the youtube and video help we can get. In return, we'll also add your reviews to the main post, so that we both get more publicity.
I'll post some updates on content for next version as soon as we finish crunching bugs and start being able to add stuff finally. Sorry about the complete lack of interesting screenshots and such.
Also, on another exciting note, some of you may remember this mod: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1240619-147smpforgebaked-goods-mod-beta-unique-food-in-minecraft/
Before we started working on Minestrappolation, SoBio was maintaining the Baked Goods mod. Obviously, it hasn't been updated since 1.4, when we started work on Minestrappolation. However, since we just realized we have an almost completely finished mod sitting right there, we are pleased to announce that Extrapolated Foods will be released with Extrapolated Mob Drops! The new segment will include most of the content included in the Baked Goods mod, as well as a bunch of new stuff from a sequel of sorts to the mod that was never released, which means the Mob Drops/Food Update will add a RIDICULOUS amount of content. If you're concerned about this delaying the next Extra Ores/Decor patch, don't be. We'll be releasing an update for those separately, as EMD will take quite a while to finish up.
Also, I updated the banner!
We'll update it in the main thread when Extrapolated Mob Drops is released.
Oops, lol, yeah I guess we DID forget to actually make it burn the items. This is why we have dev builds now!
Assuming you're asking us to add options in the config file to disable certain blocks and items (your question was a bit unclear), we can look into it for next update. We're already busy with quite a lot of bugfixing and such for Extrapolated Ores at the moment, though, so it may get delayed a patch or two, depending on how difficult it ends up being to add. Also, as for the Copper Ingots not being useful in other mods, consider that fixed for the next version. We figured out how to use OreDictionary just before we released the most recent patch, so we'll be adding support for commonly used items like Copper, Tin, and Bronze next patch.
Thank you!
Also, if you have ANY comments or questions whatsoever, PLEASE don't hesitate to post them. Since each comment helps to keep the thread closer to the top of the mods section, there is no such thing as an unwelcome comment, and we generally do our best to respond to each one. After all the work that's being put into this mod, I'd really hate for it to become just another lost mod floating at the murky depths of the mods section.
- Added a system to check if your mod is up to date.... can't really show it working in a screenshot but here is one anyway! The white will let you know if your mod is the latest version or not and the green is the MOTD that can change and will change pretty often so that you can get news without checking the forum post!
Once we finish those two, we'll be finalizing our next two segments, Extrapolated Mob Drops and Extrapolated Foods, and then moving on to Extrapolated Environment (unless the poll results drastically change within the next few weeks).
In other exciting update news, the Extrapolated Ores update this week will also host a new automated installer for the mods, which will allow you to pick and choose which segments to install without ever having to download multiple files, as well as an update checking system that will check for updates and give you the latest mod news upon logging into your worlds! We're getting all hyper-professional all up on this biz.
