Is there a way to make this mod compatible with aquaculture? I want to be able to get a ton of goldfish/treasure chests but fishing is super boring.
Probably...when I get the time I'll grab the mod and see if fishing behaves the same way in AquaCulture as it does in regular Minecraft. If it does, I could make two quick options in the file for whether to use AquaCulture and for the ID of this "Iron Rod".
I believe there is an issue with the controls in the 1.6.2 version. I change my menu key button form the default B to F and it doesn't save it as F.. every time I restart minecraft it has been set back to B...?

I have noticed this as well. I'm not quite sure if it's something I'm forgetting on my end or Liteloader's end though, I'll ask about it.
There is however a temporary fix for this I added if you're interested. If you open the litemod file with an archiver like winrar or 7zip, open the file called litemod.json and there's a setting for the default autofish key. Change it to a keycode of your choice (find them here), and you should be good to go. I'll try to get this fixed asap.
Awesome mod! Love how simple it is and how smooth it works. Would this mod work with other mods, like say, Optifine???
It should be compatible with just about anything. Neither this mod nor liteloader edit any base minecraft classes, so the only incompatibilities would be mods that do anything to fishing mechanics. I use optifine with this and a few other mods and it's perfectly fine.
I get mixed results with this auto fisher. I get times of no fish for 10+ minutes and then it will catch one or two and then go 10+ minutes without fish. I'm not sure if this is the fisher or just how minecraft works.

The mod doesn't affect and has no control over when a fish actually "bites" (when the bobber goes under), it just reels when certain conditions are met that match that of when a fish does bite. According to the wiki there is a 1/500 chance every tick of catching a fish in clear weather with the water exposed to the sky.
Works great for me, a little slow compared to nodus auto fisher but very efficient and does not bug out as much. 900 fishing on my mcMMO server.
Not too sure how nodus tries (tried) to detect it but I imagine it would be very similar to how it's done here. What exactly do you mean by "slow"? That it waits too long before recasting or that you aren't catching fish as often? The wait time between recasting was put in place purposefully to look and feel more realistic, and I could easily add an config option for it if you wish. (It's currently 1.5 seconds)
Have you checked about aquaculture? That mod was the reason I wanted this one.
Working on it right now. I did manage to get it to work, but it might not be super accurate with AquaCulture stuff because the hook seems to behave just a bit differently than vanilla. From my testing it was still quite accurate and caught fish often. I'll upload it in a bit after I get a couple bugs ironed out.

Alright, this should do the trick: Autofish 0.3.1 for 1.6.2
Latest changes:
• Ability to add more IDs for fishing rods, for use with other mods which add new variations of the fishing rod
Note:
To add more IDs, go into the config file located in /mods/Autofish/. In order to get the new option to appear you may need to toggle an option in the GUI to kind of "reset" the properties, I'm working on this. Change the "extraRodIDs" option to a list of new IDs seperated by commas. For AquaCulture I did this, but the IDs may be different for you:
extraRodIDs=22257,22258,22259
After saving the config file you'll either need to reload the game or toggle an option in the GUI again to reload the file, then you should be good to go. Let me know how it works.
It doesn't seem to work for me. The regular fishing rod works just fine, I went into the Aquaculture config to get the ID's and when I put them in, nothing happens with the new rods.

I had the same issue. The IDs ingame weren't matching the ones in the config, not really sure why. Press F3+H ingame then open your inventory, it will show the true item IDs when you hover over them (ignore the number signs and the durability after the slash).
i did all that was told for the installer, i feel kinda stupid now X3
the mod wont even load in the client... and ideas?
If you wouldn't mind posting your log I could take a look. If you have the mod in your mods folder and the extension still as .litemod then you more than likely have a problem with Liteloader. Are you sure you're launching with the correct Profile/Version selected?

That fixed it. Thanks. Loving this mod so much now.
A bit slow, it misses all instant action fishing and sets you on a very long wait.
Could you elaborate? What wait time are you referring to? What do you mean by "instant action fishing"? The wait after catching a fish is only 1.5 seconds and I could make it configurable.
The fact is there is not much I could do to make it more accurate and still work online. Detecting when a fish is caught can't be perfect because the client doesn't actually know when you catch a fish (at least online). This mod, as well as every other autofisher I've seen, uses an extremely similar if not exact same method to figure out when a fish it biting, and that is by watching the hook's velocity for when it moves a certain way.
Possibly on the bright side, from what I've read there will be many changes in fishing mechanics when 1.7 comes, so I may be able to come up with a better method then.
