Thank you for the work you put into this. While I would simply ignore all the detractors I also think that changing the textures would be beneficial, not because of any issues relating to other mods, but because its very hard to distinguish them apart from each other.
Keep up the good work and continue modding.

You probably have one of the older versions. The most recent textures are closer to what they will be when finished. I totally thank
88mooggles
for making the side texture of the barrels. Check them out if you haven't already.
I'm re-doing the crafting recipes for barrels! Give me ideas please! Right now, regular barrels are changed to 3 logs on top and bottom row, and 2 iron ingots in the middle row.
Like this:
XXX
Y Y
XXX
y = iron ingot
x = log
makes it incompatable with factorization barrels if someone wants to use those with this mod installed or maybe inpossible to craft these barrels with factorization installed
Why would someone have both installed? Only an idiot would do that.
what about wood planks or slabs instead of iron for the normal barrels and then have the iron on the sides for the ender barrell?
I don't think it really makes sense. Once I put in the new textures, they included iron 'struts' that goes though the middle. I want the recipe to make sense. It's sort of like real life barrels, you have wooden planks tied with a steal/iron band stretching across. Maybe I should change out the logs for planks. I don't want to make the recipe too cheep though.
Just to point out, I have added a config option for the regular barrel to use steal (you know, form rail craft)

I'm defiantly going with the ender-pears on the sides of the ender barrel.
New question: should I add any sort of compatibility with Factorization? Maybe someone wants to use my mod to replace Factorization's barrels but doesn't want to remove Factorization all together.
Maybe I should add a 'use dark iron' option to replace the ender pears with dark iron on the ender barrel.
EDIT: I added a config to replace the logs with half slabs. The recipe is a bit awkward but if that's how you want to play, you can change it in the config.
Just to make my stance clear, I don't have a problem with this mod, changing the textures would have probably avoided all this, but meh. My responce was to 88mooggles saying mod authors don't own their mod, and that all mods SHOULD be open source. But yes this is getting out of hand and I will shut up.
Wasn't directed specifically at you, just that, in general I think people need to stop focusing on the similarities.
As to recipes, I'd like to again suggest having more types of barrels.
Wooden Barrel (Works like current Barrels)
Wooden Drum (Holds liquids - other than lava - can be broken and moved without losing its contents)
Ender Barrel would be the Wooden Barrel, plus an Ender Chest (possibly could upgrade by just using an Ender Chest on it?).
Combining a Wooden Drum with a Cauldron would make an Iron Drum, capable of holding more liquids, and storing lava.
Combining either of those with a Nether Star would make a "Polychron Chest/Drum" (a polychron is a tesseract that isn't square)...essentially the current Quantum tier.
Version 1.2 getting released. You'll be able to configure the crafting recipes with the configuration file now. You'll also be able to change the names of the barrels.
I know the video i've released has the worst quality. anyone tell me if you were able to change the crafting recipes no problem. Also, could someone make a better video then mine on how to configure the custom crafting recipes?
I updated the source code download if anyone wants to see how I did the custom crafting config from that and learn how to use it because I, I'm the worst at making decent videos.

Too late.

If you want that crafting recipe, for the wooden barrel, it would be like this: "shaped;logWood;slabWood;logWood;item, ironIngot;block, chest;item, ironIngot;logWood;slabWood;logWood"
OoOoOoOps! This acually works: "shaped;logWood;slabWood;logWood;item,ingotIron;block,chest;item,ingotIron;logWood;slabWood;logWood"
Hope it worked for you!
FYI: I won't be doing the liquid barrel only because it will most likely take me 10 more hours to do that. Right now, I don't have the time to do that.
hi ,
when i look with NEI i see only Barrel and Ender Barrel , and when look Elder barrel used for craft i see :
obsidian / blaze rode / obsidian
diamond / Ender Barrel / diamond
obsidian / blaze rode / obsidian
and give me a Ender Barrel not a Quantum Barrel
test with the ver 1.2
edit :can you add in config a option for resize the icon on te barrel ? it a little too big i think

ps sorry my english is really bad
I'll take the resizing thing into consideration. It's defiantly possible. I fixed the bug and the new download should be up shortly. It hurts to see a bug like this. It could of been easily prevented if I paid more attention.

I second these ideas, especially the liquid container, great idea there. Just my 2 cents, when you have time of course.
There aint a damn thing wrong with copying a good idea when said idea comes bundled with a bunch of half baked ones. Thanks for the mod, Ive been wanting some barrels like these.
Well, if you ever find the time and the motivation to do liquid barrels in the future, let me know so I can sing their praises. I've been wanting someone to do them for ages so I can hop down to the Nether, and bring a few (in game) months' supply of lava back to my workshop.
I used The barrels Mod version 1.2 and Logistics Pipes 1.4.7-0.7.0.90.
When I connect a provider pipe with a barrel, number was not displayed correctly.
I want you to solve this problem.

Make sure you're running the latest version of buildcraft because in older versions, buildcraft used to do some strange item handling. I do have an idea up my sleeve if this keeps on happening.

I am using BuildCraft 3.4.3.So, I think that I do not have a problem in particular.
Keep up the good work and continue modding.
