thx so much for telling me how to fix the galaxy space dimensions ive been messing around with this mod all day its pretty sweet. i love how seamless it is
out of curiosity are the star gates chunk loaders?
Yes , it has to be . In mincraft terms its a fancy way to /tp . You dial and the other gate starts up , you walk through into a loaded 10 chunk square

hypothetically speaking, if i had a gate on lets say 10 planets and a corresponding gate on earth would it slow down my pc because minecraft is loading 10 chunks on 10 different planets plus the chunks i have loaded on earth?

No , your PC wont slow down , you're over thinking this . forget about the fancy animation . it's a simple /TP command and chunks are loaded only around a player all unoccupied chunks are unloaded . If it were a Spigot server with 10 maps with the multiverse plugin , a player would simply type , /mv tp world3 x y z ( or warp name ) and end up on that map at that warp , all this done in real time no lag with 50 players loged in , just no stargate model . Forge expands on a lot more things . Build the server and test it

Only gates with open connections load chunks, so it doesn't matter how many gates you have altogether, only how many you use at the same time.
Also, in multiplayer, a client only loads chunks for the dimension a player is in, so your PC won't be affected by gates being used by other players.

Ok. I was just wondering because I'm making a server soon. Love the mod btw, I've never heard about the show but this mod seriously is somthing to be amazed at. Very helpful for space Travel once you've been to a planet.

there was an option to allow generation of these portals in the game but its disabled to not conflict with certain mods? is there a list of those mods anywhere? or can someone tell me? i have a very well balanced set of mods going on and im still considering whether or not to turn it on but i would like to know what mods this feature is not compatible with.

From what I know & tested, a stargate spawns in every desert temple's lower level (loot room below gate room), and not in villages, jungle temples & etc. May be since the original Stargate movie was set in Abydos' gate temple, which coincidentally resembles a minecraft desert temple.
So that means that it may conflict with desert temple generation changing mod, and i'm not aure about anything else.

I can't remember exactly which mod it had problems with, but the way I'm currently doing it is a horrible hack that could potentially conflict with any mod that adds stuff to the world.
The best way is to try it and see if it works. (Back up your world first!). You can turn it on with the augmentStructures config option. You should find out fairly quickly if there's going to be an issue.

The best thing that can be done even when the structures are generated is just to test a new world with a set seed, to check if the structures generate correctly..
For what it's worth, the 1.7.10 Direwolf20 pack seems to give no discernible conflicts from having Stargate generation enabled. But trying to gate to a Mystcraft dimension consistently causes crashes for me, even though I can gate *out* of one without a problem.
Erm... How do I set the ccDHD up (with all its stuff)?
I'm not a big understander of ComputerCraft (& OpenComputers)..
Also, is SGCraft compitable with WarpDrive mod (the jumps and hyperspace things)?
All the instructions for setup are included in the OP in the ccDHD thread. Basically, all you need is gateLiaison installed at the gate and ccDHD installed on an advanced computer - start there, then worry about all the add-ons after you're familiar with the basic setup. If you have further questions, please feel free to post them in the ccDHD thread (I'd prefer not to use this thread for ccDHD support).
I'm not sure about compatibility with the WarpDrive mod - I'll have to leave that for someone else to answer.

Place a ComputerCraft interface block (from SGCraft) under the gate and then place a computer with a wireless modem next to (touching) the interface block, then install gateLiaison on the computer. You can find screen shots in the OP of the ccDHD thread.

Awsome!
Can you make a ComputerCraft equalivant? I have no idea of using OpenComputer lol
A basic tutorial for opencomputers'd be great.
This is amazing.
That's a sexy DHD program there, DarknessShadow54
@AdingoD - if you'd like a ComputerCraft DHD program, feel free to check out ccDHD. The link is in my signature.

Well, just one more question - what do u mean by installing it at the gate? the peripheral?
