I've mentioned that on here before. Unfortunately, Zelda Sword Skills doesn't create the full experience that Legend Gear did unless all you were looking for was the Zelda-esque content.
It's actually very sad that he does not release the Source-Code.
True, but the quality of the mod shows just how much work he had to have put into it to make it. After that kind of job, I would want to keep my trade secrets just that - a secret. The falling stars alone are something I know I won't be able to replicate for some time in 1.6.4, probably not until Forge has already moved to 1.8+. Someday, I may speak with NMcCoy via PM about sending me the SRC so I can update it and send him the finished product to dstribute, but I don't see that happening for some time, if at all.
Thought you all might be interested to know that I've completed a new project. It's not the thing I've been posting teaser screenshots of (that project is on the back burner for now, as I decided the scope was a bit too ambitious and I wanted to get something simpler completed first). Now that I've finished this, I am tentatively interested in getting back into Minecraft modding, but a lot of that depends on how much of an income my new game gets me and whether I can supplement that some other way. (I'm considering setting up a Patreon thing for mod releases that I do, for example.) Anyway, presented for your consideration:
Several years ago I made a reasonably popular game called Dragondot. I have finally made a worthy successor to the original, in Unity. This is my first game using that engine, and the first time I'm actually selling a game to the public (rather than licensing to a sponsor or releasing for free). You can play the demo and get the game here, or check out an early prerelease trailer .
For as long as i've played modded minecraft this formed the largest love of it all. hell I still play 1.5 for this. and this only. and modpacks like hexxit were so popular because of mods like this, and chocolatecraft and all them fun mods just mush together like PB&J! And I honestly hope you one day start to work on this again! there is NO mod I would rather see come back! Although I can't be mad at anything for wanting to set it aside. it isn't easy for dev's of any kind to make money doing that. the same goes for animators too for example. just don't just fall off the side of the earth like Eloraam did okay?
Does anyone know how to fix the bomb visual glitch? I want to harvest more bombs, but being unable to see them when I look at them make them almost impossible to do. I'm playing on the Hexxit version of MC.

Hello! A request? suggestion?
Not meant to be something naggy or whatever- but since this mod is so incredibly complex, have you considered releasing parts of this standalone rather than doing all of it?
Personally, I would love to have the falling stars (and only that). To me, that was really something special. Felt very oldschool RPG there.

ah, that glitch. it pissed me off SOO bad. if i remember correctly its to do with NEI's hilight tooltops option. disable that if its on ad it SHOULD fix the issue. was doing it with thaumcraft plants once
I actually recently encountered the Bomb Flower glitch on a Hexxit server. All of the flowers but one had a bomb visible on the top. The one with the invisible bomb still acted like it had a bomb on it, but it didn't display. My guess is that it's just client-server desynchronization. That kind of thing is usually fixed when mods update passed 1.5.2, so if this mod ever updates it will likely be fixed.
Soooo.... hypothetically speaking, if I were working on LegendGear 2 for MC 1.7.10, what are the things without which it just wouldn't be LegendGear? Assume that falling stars, emerald shards, and hearts are a given.
The incredibly radicool star pieces/blocks, for one thing, as well as the skybeam blocks and their respective torches (which I should have used way more than I did :<). For another thing, the medallions and their amulets were quite useful, and combining them with swords to make them project those effects was a VERY neat addition (sword-whooshy-windy-bits, and mod compatibility too!). Chained blocks were good, as well.
But really I'm so much of a sucker for looks, I really do like the star pieces and everything they were used for.
Agreed, the Fallen Stars were always my favorite part of the mod. I can't explain it, but when I'm playing Hexxit and I hear one of those fall to earth, I drop everything I'm doing to go snatch it. I don't actually use them, though. I just stockpile them.
Now, as to what NMcCoy said, the amulets were always a big part of it for me. They were so unique, and incredibly fun to mess around with in Creative mode, while still being useful in survival. And the Bomb Flowers, while obviously inspired by Zelda, were very well-implemented and creative. So many mods add bombs and quivers and such, but Legend Gear seemed to do justice to the Bomb Flower quite well.
And I've always wanted to ask, what's up with the slime sword? It's such an odd weapon...
Current state of the design right now: falling stars, hearts, emerald shards, boomerang are in; [fancy new thing] is added; caltrops are so much cooler now; much more of the crafting depends on stardust /starstone. Various simple trinkets return. Bombs have been replaced by a new thing for the moment, medallions are slated to be reworked in the nearish future as part of a new subsystem that I am still sorting out the details of. Starbeam torches and hookshot are on hold for now for technical/implementation reasons. There is much more to add, but I would like to get an initial beta release out by Friday of next week.

In my humble opinion, I would suggest not really worrying too much with what other mods have done. I know that this is to be a "Zelda" based mod, but boomerangs and hookshots have been done (Rather well too) by another mod. Obviously there's no harm in adding them but I think your time would be better spent on things.
Rather than those, I would go with other unique gadgets and whatnot that make zelda so special...for example the gloves that allow picking up mobs/etc or the mirror that allows escaping a dungeon. That spinning top thing from twilight princess could be interesting. Pots randomly spawning in villages.
i would also suggest utilizing the star dust more- perhaps a complete set of crafted blocks (stairs, door etc). Perhaps even using stardust to power or upgrade or recharge other artifacts (master sword, perhaps?)

The Legend of NMcCoy returns!
