2. You can already troll your friend. Use a Rift Signature to set up a rift really high up in Limbo and just convince your friend to go through. Even across different dimensions, the rifts will still link together. He'll come out, fall, and he won't take damage but won't know where the rift is to go back.
Limbo, that realm, is not somewhere you're SUPPOSED to go to.
Remember this kids. Do never EVER try to get to Limbo... First, you die, but it seems that you are not home. Then, A FRIGGIN` EYE in the sky. Then you see black things, and then they open their red eyes and then you go back to start, and there is no escape, and you are getting more and more afraid, and you can never leave, and then you DIE!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHa*cough cough* Ha...
Also, it'll be terrifying if monoliths sometimes, VERY rarely, spawn in the overworld.
1. Adventure door, unstable door with wood instead, tp to dimensional dungeon for fun(and creep).
2. Portal, made by unstable fabric in netherportayl shape, tp you to Limbo
Reason: I have a friend i,d like to troll using monoliths...
The unstable door already does both of these, really. Using it like a normal door will tend to send you to dungeons. Now, the rift this door leaves behind is different than most- it doesn't actually point anywhere at all, so trying to use it will end up sending you to limbo. Makes sense, right?
And I'm not quite sure what to do with unstable fabric yet- one issue with using it for anything valuable is that there is just so much of it. Though I'll come up with something.
*looks around forum* guess I'll get dimensional doors mod, been a while since I had that. *reads title* NEW MOB?!?!?! *downloading* XD
*checking mod* Ok, let's see this new mob. *spawns mob* What's the ender particles? *looks up and sees a giant eye* WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?!?!?! O.O *changes gamemodes and ends up in limbo with hundreds of "them"* ._. sup guys..........
Here's a suggestion. Since the TransDimensional Trapdoors are being phased out anyway, why not just repurpose them? They could lead to a new dimension - Nowhere. It would be just like a normal dimension, but completely white with the trapdoor at the bottom of the dimension-box. It could also be 1/2 the size of a normal dimension to keep people interested in the normal doors. I have more ideas for this concept if you're interested.
I actually have an idea for a "personal pocket" that I think will use the trapdoor. The idea is that no matter which trapdoor you enter, you will always enter the same pocket dimension that is unique to your username (and server, of course).
And SenseiKiwi, if only they knew about [REDACTED]. Anyway, I'm actually out of town this weekend, so I can't really work on too much. Next week though!!
I'm getting a crash every time I'm sent to Limbo. It says something about not being in the correct state. I didn't grab the log, but next time it happens I'll post it.
Are all of those redacted statements about one idea, or more than one?
Also,
SenseiKiwi, you and Steven
make a great team. Maybe you to could get a good stable update, allow time for ideas to pool an solidify within the community, and work on Grey Goo for a while.
Dim Doors, Grey Goo.... Does anyone else notice the tendency of Steven's mods to use alliteration?
It seems that when I have mcpc+ installed on my server, any time I die in a pocket dimension I don't end up in Limbo. I have tried to troubleshoot and checked other mods and plugin configs to see if something is making me spawn back at overworld spawn, but I have found nothing. If I remove mcpc+ then I will spawn in Limbo when I die in a pocket dim.
from my point of view, this mod in singleplayer is spectacular and very useful, but in multiplayer is not a good option, too many users who would use these "pocket dimensions" that end up damaging the server. the only exception is the limbo
the dimension of Limbo, (and its unique features) is truly spectacular, scary, true but also spectacular. if I had the necessary skills they would add some details that would make the perfect limbo:
1) mobs shadows, would be peaceful but would have the form of a player but completely dark and transparent, walk slowly, as if they felt tired and aimless, if one touches simply evaporate leaving a trail of smoke
2) mobs clones. mobs would like shadows, only be observed in them the names and colors of the players on a server, also because the same team lead with these, as beings are treated like shadows can not Dropped items. simply evaporate if you touch
3) would add one boss, this would be the reaper, this boss would attack not the players directly, first go killing all the shadows closest to him, if the player is closer to the reaper, it's your turn (malevolent laughter).
So my advice is that you separate the dimension of Limbo on a separate mod.
and pocket dimensions is a way to limit them. say you add a command to multiplayer in which the OP can decide a maximum of 20 pocket dimensions give an example.
steven,
could you please port the limbo generator to bukkit, only the shaping of the land. i like the way it works out. i want to use the shaping code to make a world like the overworld but with all those epic cliffs and some custom block populators. if you can get the shaping code into a bukkit chunk generator, i will be one happy person
(im crossing my fingers hoping you know how to use bukkit)
Can somebody help me? i was playing in a mod pack of the technic launcher called hexxic i start a new game and i found a dimmensional door i found a leaver in the pocket dimmension i pull the leaver and then everything exploded and a big square with an eye staringat me and then he teleportd me to a infinite fall in middle of nowhere and instead of a sun was the eye of the square it was pretty sacry so i delete the world...
I still don't know what that is and im still searching for a good device...

MCPC build 560 seems to behave with dying in pocket dimensions. I felt evil, therefore followed them into a pocket dimension, murdered them, and watched as all their items which had fallen disappear.

Hey, putting together a private modpack with the technic launcher, saw that you wanted to know where your mod was being distributed, thought I should notify you.
So, can I put the mod in a private server pack using the technic launcher?

Ill have to do some thinking about the suggestions, but for servers you can easily disable Iron Dim Door crafting to prevent people from spamming dimensions. And having lots of dims isnt really damaging to a server, not any more than exploring overworld terrain.
The user made schematics go in the custom dungeon folder that is generated in the same directory as the configuration file. The schematics that come with the mod are packaged inside the .zip archive.

This is why I make mods. So, it looks like you got killed by a trap in on of my dungeons and ended up in limbo. All you needed to do was find the reddish pools that collect in the lowest levels of limbo. Walking into one teleports you back to the overworld.

Looks great! One thing I would recommend is hiding the dispenser behind a piston, and putting it on a timer. You also forgot to tag the dungeon, but thats fine. I really like the style, too, definitely getting tossed in the OP after some tweaks.
Allow me to ask - is that Vanilla-blocks-only thing something that you guys forsee will be fixable in the future, or is it a permanent dead end in that regard?

sounds like you triggered a trap.
